Free Republic's Rino Free America Project
December 3, 2009 | several

Posted on 12/02/2009 10:31:56 PM PST by Freedom2specul8

Recently Jim Robinson posted two threads declaring Free Republic’s determination to see Conservatives elected and ousting Rino's from government. Jim and a great many Freepers believe that we need to take back control. But the RNC is not hearing us. Activism is called for NOW. 2010 is nearing and we need Conservative candidates to run. The time is ripe and people are ready for another 1994 type election. But we need to make the RNC hear us loud and clear.

This is the Rino Free America Project. Get involved. Make them listen. Write a letter and MAIL it.

Republican National Committee
310 First Street
Washington, D.C. 20003

To Whom it May Concern,

I am a (member/visitor/friend) of FreeRepublic.com, a non-commercial Conservative website which is "...a political discussion forum and independent grassroots conservative activist group supported by donations from our readers and participants...." (freerepublic.com). I watched the Presidential election with interest. I have watched local, state and federal elections with interest. I have been extremely disappointed with the candidates you have selected to represent Republicans. I have grown weary of candidates who have chosen to ignore conservative ideals, principles and values. Conservatives want strong candidates who are not afraid to stand against liberal agendas, democrats, and the liberal media. Unless I see a commitment by your Republican representatives to protect and defend conservative principles, and actual evidence (legislation and behaviour) that there is change, I will not send in donations nor will I vote for your candidates. I have no desire to support a political party who does not reflect the core values of Conservatives.

I would like to quote the founder of FreeRepublic.com, all of which can be found here http://www.freerepublic.com/home.htm:

"...In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.

Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops ... and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty..."

After reading what your website says (http://www.gop.com/index.php/learn/what_we_believe/), it is very clear that you don't pick candidates who support or defend your belief system let alone the Conservative belief system. As a result, I believe the Republican Party has left the conservatives. There has been growing evidence that many elected officials are not true Conservatives. Instead, we tend to call them RINO's. RINO's are defined as "Republicans In Name Only". I believe the majority if not all Republican candidates and elected officials are RINO's because of their actions and votes in congress.

I believe that you are aware of what a RINO is because after completing a quick search on your gop.com website, I noticed quite a few references to RINO's in the search results. I view RINOs as Republicans who claim to be Conservatives, but use their postition to promote, defend and protect liberal ideas, goals, agendas and legislation. While observing past campaigns, I noticed that your candidates use action phrases, slogans and key words that appeal to conservatives, but after they are elected they fail to promote, defend and protect the Conservative platform. You have compromised without a fight for far too long. This is completely unacceptable.

In conclusion, I declare the following:

And will not be supported by Conservatives.

Sincerely,

Name
Addresss / State

We have been frustrated and angry at the way we have been treated by the political elite in this country. They have ignored us, belittled us, overlooked us, and singled Conservatives out for their special brand of contempt. It is bad enough when liberals and Democrats do it, but the betrayal of our Constitution, Conservative values and morals at the hands of the party we built and supported for many years has been the ultmate blow to Conservatives.

ARE YOU SICK TO DEATH OF HEARING THAT THE PARTY YOU ONCE TRUSTED TO UPHOLD CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES IS A BIG TENT THAT ADMITS ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN NOTHING IF THEY DECIDE TO WEAR AN 'R' AFTER THEIR NAME??? TELL THEM ABOUT IT!

Write a letter, (it will only take a few minutes of your time) and SEND IT! Not an email. Not a fax. Not a phone call. We want to flood their headquarters with letters they can't ignore. Have your friends and family send as many letters as they can. The value of ONE handwritten letter with words inscribed from the heart, is worth more than ten voices screaming at the top of their lungs. Let them know you are serious.

No more contributions to the RNC (not one cent) If they insist on supporting RINOs who don't adhere to core Conservative principles and values. Tell them in your own words that you will support individual candidates of YOUR choosing on their own merits, and not the party hacks they want to jam down our throats like Dede Scozzafava and Arlen Specter. Tell them why they have reason to fear us. They won't if one or two letters trickle in. We need thousands. DO IT TODAY OR TOMORROW, BUT DO IT!!!

It doesn’t work that way. You are on our thread that was approved by Jim Robinson before it was posted. He read every word.

Good lord, the histrionics coming from you. Have you ever considered auditioning for a soap opera?

If you do not want the RNC to have your Freeper handle, don’t give to them.

If you’re so paranoid you don’t want them to know your real name or address, don’t give it to them.

Better yet, don’t send a letter at all.

Well you have a false premise. The RNC is hearing us and does not care and actually believes that conservatives are to radical for the party.

I used to be a moderator for a group against illegal aliens and we were furious over the stance the RNC took on it all our members asked for their donations back lol and everyone told them how mad they were and would not donate. They literally had to close some offices.

I am still mad about that actually and until I see a candidate who stands for the things I think are important no more $$ and we moved last year so I won’t give them any info either.

Didn’t think of it that way. If they received say “thousands” of letters of former supporters, who are demanding change, would they still ignore us? If that’s TRUE, than I will never vote repub again.

This really argues for a strong national conservative party. You will not drive RINOs out of the republican party.

A strong conservative party would become one of two major parties with I estimate 33-40% of the voters and relegating the GOP-RINOs to third place and eventually ignominy. A strong conservative party, espousing the values described here, could vie for independent votes in election years and capture a national majority.

That’s a rather simplistic view.

A lot of good conservatives lost in 2008. They didn’t lose because they were conservative, but they lost.

The problem with trying to make a political party “my way or the highway” is that nobody thinks alike, and the more things you put on the list, the fewer people will agree with your position on all of them.

You have things on this list that conservatives disagree with, depending on their ‘flavor’ of conservatism. But beyond that, not everybody who is “conservative” is conservative on every issue.

The attempt to define “conservative” by a list of issues is hard enough. To then limit yourself to people who are the same as you on those issues will guarantee you a minority party of no consequence, kind of like the libertarian and constitution parties today.

In countries where they do parties like this, they have dozens of parties, they all win a few seats, and then they make “coalitions”, where the members of the coalition don’t agree on everything but decide to “get along”.

In our country, we’ve decided to do “coalition-building” at the party level. That necessitates parties that have some leeway, both in degree and application.

SO not only does the pro-life movement allow for different “meanings” of pro-life when endorsing candidates, but the republican party includes fiscally conservative, limited-government libertarian types who don’t agree with the pro-life position.

As a website, Free Republic can certainly factionalize — we are already only a small portion of the republican party. But if the party exists to create a ruling majority, it has to be a bigger tent than could exist under the guidelines specified here.

Now, these are great guidelines for deciding who to vote for in a republican primary. The way you eliminate those you disagree with is at the ballot box, not by imposing a purity test.

We lost elections because the Rinos in Washington backed big government. We won in 94 because of the Contract with America. People WANT smaller government and less taxes. Either the RNC goes there, or we all lose.

Oddly, we did NOT purge the Virginia Republican committee of moderates (and in fact dumped a solidly conservative leader), but we managed to win election with 3 solidly conservative candidates, because that’s who we chose in the convention.

If you have local committees that pick candidates, you have to stack them with conservatives. But otherwise, you are better off not applying litmus tests to your local committee membership, because that factionalizes your worker base, making it harder to help candidates win election.

Just in the interest of disclosure, I dropped out of our local republican committee last year, before the election, and do not intend to re-join.

I certainly have enough problems in my day to day life
without courting outright animousity and who-knows-
what-all-else from getting my name on a list for
millionaire-RINOs and billionaire-RINOs and their friends &
supporters to plot and plan over.

Paranoia works against your First Amendment rights.
They know this and exploit it.

If YOU don't stand up and be heard, others will yell louder
and continue to CONTROL the RNC:

Use your First Amendment rights NOW, or you'll be forced to exercise your Second Amendment rights later.

You are right hennie. We need a way to secure ourseloves against retribution before we do this.

In other words , a plan “ X” rather han plan B.We need to be ready to litigate and demonstrate any retribution on ANY freeper.

This takes things to a whole new level, but I am ready to do so. We just have to be smart and organized about it.

We need a FREEPER parallel organization to take care of such things nationally. A “Don’t Tread on me “ function.

Oh, I’ve written letters. I’m one of those here who does not give any money to the RNC, or the RSCC, or the RCCC.

I donate to specific candidates.

However, my reasons for not donating would not be assauged if the RNC adopted a purity list such as posted here.

What I would like to see is for them to get more local input in recruitment, to NOT support candidates in primaries (even incumbents), and to adopt a set of principles (and even issues, and it could be like your list) that are the “official” majority position of the RNC that would be used by the leadership when responding to things the democrats do.

So, I want the Republicans to be the conservative party, and to espouse a list like what you have made, but NOT to kick out potential candidates simply for not adhering to the list.

The local committee can apply the litmus test appropriate for the local electorate. The people who are purists can be independents, and can send letters telling each party what the party needs to nominate to get their vote.

It's not a purity list. See post 70. It's called a Party Platform. The RNC has one. It's not unreasonable to ask them to support and believe it.

Letter writers do not need to use ours. It was meant as a guide. People can write their own. Don’t tell them they’re a member of FR. Simple.
