Grassfire email: "Healthcare Bill May Go Nuclear"
Grassfire Nation [alert@grassfire.net] ^ | Sat 12/5/2009 | Steve Elliott

Posted on 12/05/2009 6:42:26 AM PST by plsjr

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is warning that the "nuclear option" is being considered by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass ObamaCare...

This means only 50 votes would be needed to pass a healthcare takeover bill that would tax Americans to the tune of $500 billion, while gutting Medicare $464 billion.

Grassley, and others believe the current plan on the table would lead to "rationed care, shuttered hospitals, overburdened doctors and waste."

No doubt feeling the pressure to punch ObamaCare through before Christmas, Reid is now demanding lawmakers work on Sunday...

Reid's quick-step signals a shift for Grassfire.

We can't wait to rally 750,000 citizen signers before hand- delivering your petitions to key Senate offices.

That's why we've literally started the countdown clock-- counting down to midnight Wednesday night as potentially the last opportunity for grassroots citizens to have their petition opposing ObamaCare hand-delivered before the vote!

674,346 citizens have already signed our petition-- meaning we are roughly 75,000 petitions shy of our three-quarters -of-a-million goal.

Earlier this week, we were more than 110,000 from our goal!

So your efforts are paying off.

But we need to do more. That's why I'm urging EVERY member of our team who has already signed our petition to forward this alert to 35-40 friends urging them to sign the petition and have it HAND-DELIVERED to their Senators starting next Thursday.

Go here now to sign:

http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?u=23467&PID=22955334

Because of such an overwhelming amount of petitions, we had to give our special courier up to three days to deliver our petitions... But EVERY petition will be delivered---at a critical time when Reid and his cronies are using whatever trick they can to secure support for this horrifying bill...

Like Reid, Grassfire Nation has started our own countdown clock to midnight Wednesday.

Your efforts right now are critical to our success. We are depending on our amazing team to help us reach our goal to maximize our impact starting next week!

Thanks in advance for taking action.

Steve Elliott Grassfire Nation

P.S. We're doing all we can to rally critically needed extra support for our petition--including the launching of an actual countdown clock on Drudge!

There are two ways of avoiding the 60 seat senate rule/vote :

1) Budget reconciliation
2) Change the rules, as Dem Alan Greyson called for. With 50 Senators plus Biden.

I just don't see either. #1 has too many limitations, #2 may have been headed off by the Gang of 14 moderates that we conservatives cursed(over judges 2006).

In fact this is a great test, if Dems do change the rules, RINOS were wrong, if they don't the RINOs are heroes. (I actually was very angry at Gang of 14, but they may have been right and us wrong.)

I thought some Dims want to change that date—his brilliant critics from the left, who can’t get the goodies dispensed fast enough.

Let them do the nuclear option. They will all die from the radiation poisoning that results from that stupid decision.

Health-care reform bills continue to benefit illegal aliens
3. December 2009 05:13

Amendments Expected to Target Issue

Assurances that the two health-care reform bills would not benefit illegal aliens are not accurate. A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies examines in detail the immigration-related provisions of both the House-passed HR 3962 and the bill now being debated in the Senate, HR 3590. The report concludes that the bills, in their current form, would indeed give illegal aliens access to taxpayer-funded health care well beyond emergency medical treatment.

The report, “Immigration-Related Provisions of Senate and House Health Reform Bills,” is authored by CIS Fellow James R. Edwards, Jr. It is online at http://cis.org/immigration-related-health-provisions.

Key findings include:

* HR 3962 ensures illegal alien access to the exchange and public option. HR 3590 states illegal immigrants are excluded from these.
* Both bills ostensibly bar illegal aliens from receiving the premium subsidy, and both bills use some form of eligibility verification for the subsidy.
* Both bills expand Medicaid eligibility. Both bills lack verification requirements based on citizenship or immigrant status. Both contain serious loopholes to enroll illegal aliens easily into Medicaid. HR 3962 automatically covers anchor babies.
* The eligibility verification process in each bill falls woefully short of protecting taxpayer liability to cover or subsidize people living unlawfully in the United States. Both the House and Senate bills’ verification processes will encourage large-scale fraud and abuse.
* The Senate bill exempts illegal aliens from the mandate that everyone have health insurance or else face a tax penalty. This perverse exemption treats illegal aliens better than the bill treats American citizens.

I hope Grassley doesn’t seriously believe this petition will make a microgram of difference to what Reid does.

I guess the silver lining is that if they change the rules to pass it, we’ll only need 50 votes to repeal it in 2010.

Which -12nobama will then veto and we won't have the 3/4 majority to override the veto.

I really, really hate to admit this, but it appears that if this is passed, we are screwed.

However, we can mightily express our dissatisfaction by voting out the RATS and all the RINOS in 2010.

It takes 2/3 to override a veto -- still unreachable.

However, control of either house could make it impossible to fund the programs involved in implementing the legislation.

Any bill that appropriates money for an Obamacare activity should be DOA.

All those who want this to pass:

Do nothing...

... or better yet, grouse about how stupid the U.S. Citizenry is, how we're not going to make any difference, sew doubt and despair and keep some of us who still care about our once great nation from having the heart and will to act...

... I'm sure your new masters will thank you if/when you are successful.

Those of us who have faith will keep doing what we can against the evil.

Yes, but it’s still good to register with all our might our opposition to this monstrosity. It’s good for us and all those who will join us to speak out in every way possible.

“Even stupid Dems know that, for them, it’s curtains in 2010-—unless massive voter fraud takes place. They need to buy votes and must get billions into the hands of their operatives-—ACORN, SEIU, immigrant groups, and others.”

If the tea party folk want to do something constructive, they need to monitor all of the polling places in the country next year.

Thanks for correcting my mistake. If there was a bill to defund existing programs, -14nobama could veto that. But if were new funds (ie, a budget item) the Repubs could leave it out. I suppose that would work.

There's no evidence - none whatsoever - based on elections that this Congress isn't doing EXACTLY what the People want them to do. I hope the People are happy with their stupidity.

Jim, it ain't exactly stupidity. It's far worse. It's apathetic stupidity. The votes that would have assured Obama's defeat, and that of his cohorts, never showed at the polls. In fact, they NEVER do.

With a 50-55%% turnout or less, in key states, Obama was elected by about 26% of the potential vote. Now the folks who didn't vote, want to change the outcome; that is they wish to escape the consequences of their stupidity.

Good luck to us all.

>>>>A stealth play for Communism? Not too darn stealthy in my opinion.<<<<

Well that is in the sense that 0bama NEVER has acknowledged or admitted what he really believes in, he just talks in great aggregate concepts like HOPE, CHANGE, etc.

He’s (as Paul Begala put it) a relatively unknown State Representative from Illinois so America really has no clue what he really wants or how he fells it must be achieved.

Stealth in that way.

“The Liberal Totalitarians have every intent to obtain their Ends by way of Force.”

Tell us which “force” they’ll use to enforce their dictates.

Will it be fat welfare mommas, bed-wetting college kids or 50 IQ rappers who can’t hold a glock staight?

I’m getting real tired of the drama queens here on FR.

Give me the names of king obuma’s combat commanders. Tell me where king obuma’s troops trained. Tell me how many divisions king obuma has.

The only facts we have is that obuma the ghetto thug attacks the military, hates the miltary and has insulted every veteran in America. Even Hitler had enough brains to embrace the military and get the soldiers on his side.

So you tell me where and how obuma will obtain the “ends by way of force.”

Your words. Not mine.
