Not only did Putin respect W, but also he genuinely liked him. On W’s birthday this year, Putin sent him a personally written note wishing him a happy birthday and fondly remembering his time at the ranch in Crawford.
It caused a bit of a tizzy because it was right before a visit with Obama (or something like that) and Obama felt slighted. I don’t remember the exact details of that part of it.

Wish we had a guy like Putin on our side, I am envious of the Russians.

Trust? Or is it that they know the consequences of failure?

Don't you think that by trying to eradicate terrorism in Chechnya you are going to eradicate the civilian population of Chechnya? If they're not civilized, they're not civilians.

Agreed. I want my president looking out for the U.S. If he can find a compromise that works well for others too, then fine. If he can’t, America comes FIRST!

Vlad is the penultimate product of the system that trained him and the system he once served. An utterly ruthless , soul-less apparatchik who’d literally kill his own mother if ordered to do so. If Putin were president of the US and had the backing of Congress and confidence of the military, Islam would be spoken of only in the past tense. Where the rest of us might be, well, that’s a different story.

Pooty Poot plays for keeps
Oh, I'm sure Obama will play for keeps too. Only it will be against U.S. citizens, not enemies of this country.

One only has to remember back to the 70’s and the simple fact that the Palestinians did not mess with the Russians but once in Lebanon. Something about body parts(members of the kidnappers families) being returned to the Palestinians in bags and the sudden release of the Russian hostages.
We might not like them or their politics, but you have to admire how they deal with crap like the Palestinians and other muslims terrorists.

I like W. I just do. I’m not crazy about some of his fiscal policies, but I like his character. And I really like Laura.

Well... Putin really is not the most evil leader in the world. I’d put, say, the president of Iran as a contender for that category. He can’t do much now, but wait.

I wouldn’t envy them TOO much knowing what they have to put up with internally. The Iron Curtain is gone, but the population is largely ailing and elderly with one of the most shocking abortion rates on the planet. (I don’t think China beats them at that per capita.)

Putin can certainly pull the wool over obammy’s eyes, but he did it to Bush too, remember, with that “looked in his soul” delusion.

Both Putin and Obama get away with just about anything they want to because both have a state run media that will let them get away with it. It's not suppose to work that way in this country but that's the state of affairs now days.
