I wonder how he would deal with a President Sarah Palin and how she would deal with him?

They would deal with each other very well. Say what you will about Bush, but Putin respected him and I think he would respect Sarah as well.

Great point! Sarah would be neither intimidated nor awed by Putin, but I’m sure she can understand why he is the darling of the Right.

If they're not civilized, they're not civilians.

I just may steal that for a tagline some day...

Putin is a snake and remorseless, but that does not mean that he is wrong in the way he deals with Muslim terrorists.

I suspect there are a lot of Muslim terrorists that are emigrating to Detroit to get far away from Putin's grasp. You don't see them hanging around Russian grade schools or Moscow movie theaters.

Putin offered the French reporter the opportunity to fully understand Islam, the reporter needed a Daniel Pearl experience.

The thing that Putin has going for his is that he is in no way a nutcase. Think of all the other dictators (sure, Putin is nominally a prime minister but we know who runs things)and (except for hu jintao) the whole crew of them are a good few nuts short of a party mix.

Putin is a pro. Evil, but a pro.

Now, now, Bush said nothing about whether he saw sulphurous fires there!

Putin can certainly pull the wool over obammy’s eyes, but he did it to Bush too, remember, with that “looked in his soul” delusion.

When I look back at that comment I think Bush was referring to the fact that in Putin, Bush knew the kind of person with which Bush was dealing, and dealt accordingly.

I'm pretty certain that Bush didn't mean that Putin was some kind of angel.

Sort of how Bush sounded after 911 — before the left neutered him — I liked the cowboy Bush and the cowboy Reagan style.

“Not only did Putin respect W, but also he genuinely liked him. “

When Putin was at Crawford, I would bet that Putin and Bush had a very frank discussion, without translators, since Putin is very fluent in English. Putin may still be a bit of a Chekist thug, but he is also very intelligent, and saw it unwise to underestimate Bush.

No President can please all the people all the time. I accept that....

I admire President Bush and Laura and always will. We were fortunate to have had them when we did.

Gore or Kerry? *gag*

President Bush had a load to carry and he never complained. (maybe he should have kicked the media and others) ,but he never did.

Most importantly he loved this country and our military.

Spot on. Rottweilers can be impressive when you hold the leash, or terrible when you don’t.

Yep. Obama’s a thug. I expect nothing from him that benefits America.

He can’t. 0b0z0 must be scared shitless of Putin! Putin may perform a second root circumcision on him, that of course, if he finds anything to operate on! LOL

"Not only did Putin respect W, but also he genuinely liked him. On W’s birthday this year, Putin sent him a personally written note wishing him a happy birthday and fondly remembering his time at the ranch in Crawford.

Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin praised the hospitality and openness of U.S. former President George W. Bush in a telegramme sent hours before meeting his successor Barack Obama.

"During the last years we have been working on strengthening Russia-U.S. cooperation. Although there were differences between our countries, I always valued your openness and sincerity," Putin said, congratulating Bush on his 63rd birthday on July 6.

"With special warmth I recall your hospitality in the Crawford ranch and your family estate in Kennebunkport," Putin wrote, referring to their 2007 meeting at the Bush family vacation home when the two leaders went fishing and ate lobster."

The Democrats of a few decades back might have been thugs too but they were, by gosh, AMERICA’S thugs. All other world leaders knew to whom they had pledged. There was no playing against those he had at home.

About Bummer...?!? He made a “born again” confession at Brokeback (er, I mean Saddleback) but does not show as much interest in the main teachings of the faith as Carter or even Clinton. Swore to America but looks like he’s at least equally partial to Kenya, actually tries to sell America down the tubes wherever he goes. This is NOT a sustainable system, to put it in the greenies’ words.

Wish we had a guy like Putin on our side, I am envious of the Russians.

Good heavens! I don't blame you for reaching that point after 10 months.

I'm afraid the worst is still to come.

I'm just hearing on FNC that the "president" is "still" getting reports on the panty bomb AND through the weekend! We'll have another Afghanistan-long-thoughtful decision coming.

I guess 0b0z0 will send troops to train al Qaeda how to do things right next time!

"I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straight forward and trustworthy and we had a very good dialogue.

"I was able to get a sense of his soul.

"He's a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country and I appreciate very much the frank dialogue and that's the beginning of a very constructive relationship," Mr Bush said.
