Michelle Obama wears Isaac Mizrahi to State of the Union

Yes, more important things came out of President Barack Obama's State of the Union address on Wednesday (Jan. 27) night than what his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, was wearing.

Still, Chris Matthews has the attention-grabbing, out-of-context statement "I forgot he was black" covered.

And the American citizens are full of responses to his 70-minute speech that ranged from everything to the economy to health care, national security to getting rid of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

So, back to secondary things: What was Michelle wearing? A tasteful aubergine dress with three-quarter-length sleeves from designer Isaac Mizrahi.  But not from his Target collection.

Pretty in Plumb

Though I don’t give a fig for Michelle 0bama, and I don’t think he is pretty at all with her new hair cut and her dress last night she looked nice...for a change.

I’ve seen worse but in my opinion, purple and eggplant are not a good match.

That pic is so totally photoshopped. She looked like a giant plum in that dress.

Was the entire outfit made of cowhide. Just asking.

No Michelle fan here...but I thought she looked nice last night. She must have fired her usual fashion consultant.

From what I read, not likely as one of the articles said this was not his target line i.e. dear leader’s lady is wearing a very expensive designer dress—I am wondering how much it cost given her liking of very expensive designer clothing—$675 shoes, $3000 coats, etc.

The days of off-the-rack JC Crew and Target are long gone—probably just a campaign ploy to make the “regular folks” vote for them.

Now she wears designer clothing and dines abroad on Wagu beef and lobster ;(

I like this far better than most of the other monstrosities she puts together.

I think it’s nice as well.

Not too bad. Fairly simple.

That is where she should wear a belt (a narrow one)!

Actually, I think Mizrahi no longer designs for Target. Just kidding around.

The pearls look a bit odd with the outfit, too white. A nice silver necklace or brooch, perhaps.

The belt is again, too high on the thorax. What’s wrong with being belted at her waistline?

All that aside, it’s not a terrible outfit. And many times that’s the best that can be said.
