He may be the president who governed during the Civil War, freeing the slaves, but under a new curriculum proposal for North Carolina high schools, U.S. history would begin years after President Lincoln, with the presidency of Rutherford B. Hayes in 1877.

It's about time they stopped wasting time on that Northern War of Agression and got about the serious business of things like Rutherford B. Hayes and NASCAR. Git r done.

The only people I blame for the decades long liberal agenda
are Conservatives and anyone else who respect American History.
The parents need to go in mass to school board meetings hold demonstrations, etc.

Better yet, pull the kid out of the NEA, Teacher’s Union
schools and put them in parochial or private schools.

I assume 1877 was chosen as marking the final end of Reconstruction (it actually ended sooner in some states). But it could be because of the death of Crazy Horse, or because that was the year that the two moons of Mars were discovered (Phobos and Deimos).

Without Helms there to keep an eye on them, the people of NC have gone over the abyss.

I remember once that EMK went into OH and ridiculed Rutherford B. Hayes, who tried to govern as a “moderate” and alienated all. Hayes was the first president to visit CA before it went over the cliff.

This is pure and simple.

Deny American children their heritage.

To enslave them though ignorance.

So, how many parents in NC will wake up?

How many parents will homeschool now?

Hmmm?

Are you wake America?

Coming to a state you live in.

Coming to a school district that you think is ‘safe’.

The reason is simple, to eliminate from the memory of our kids why our country was founded.

"Yet another sign of how much our education system has been hijacked! "

"Hijacked" implies it was done against the serf's wishes....Not so!

It was handed over (better yet, "surrendered") officially in 1966 without a whimper.

P.S. It isn't "our" education system...It is the government's education/indoctrination system. That is why we have had 30 years of morons being generated by marxist morons. (The final result can be seen at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.)

On the other hand, if we start US history in 1877, then slavery never happened in US history. So we can drop all mention of it and not allow comments like “legacy of slavery” to be used to justify poor performance.

Nothing happened prior to 1877. Please put that in your homeschooling lesson planner.

“Why 1877? Might want to look up the compromise of 1877 for the answer.”

What will happen to the kid who states that the Compromise ended Reconstruction and allowed Democrat racists to to rule unopposed in the South for almost a century?/s;)

“THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TEACH THEM ABOUT OUR REVOLUTIONARY WAR, DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE AND CONSTITUTION, OR THE CIVIL WAR.”

That is why all FReepers should maintain and expand our library of old history books.

Fahrenheit 451 was not fiction after all.

I’m pretty sure it’ll be spun as the Republicans abandoning blacks for political gain. Regardless, it allows U.S. history to begin with evil whites screwing over people of color.

They might as well quit teaching Pre-1877 US History. What they have been teaching currently is so perverted and wrong that they may as well quit. A quick look at any current HS history book will prove me right.
