Newsweek editor Jon Meacham says Newsweek having Obama on the cover numerous times and thorough coverage of him is not to blame for the magazine's downfall. Transcript below:
JON MEACHAM, EDITOR, NEWSWEEK: Im not pointing fingers, Im not whining. This is the life weve chosen.
HOWARD KURTZ, HOST: Right.
MEACHAM: I believe in this magazine and Im going to do everything I possibly can and so is everybody at Newsweek to find a future.
KURTZ: But as you move more toward opinion, I believe that Newsweek came to be seen as more liberal, you started running more liberal columnists. Ive lost track of the number of Barack Obama covers, Michelle Obama covers, could that have limited your appeal in the marketplace?
MEACHAM: I dont think so because again it is not a readership issue and no advertiser, to my knowledge, ever pitched up and said, you know, Im not going to advertise because you put the first African-American president in history on the cover or that we were too liberal.

PING!
They just can’t figure it out.
“But as you move more toward opinion...”
#####
Opinion?
Opinion!
More like open and ongoing, unapologetic, anti-American, lying Communist propaganda.
Maybe it was that “IS YOUR BABY RACIST?” story.
MSM is far left and now there are other sources to get the facts.
Fox was made by the Bush/Gore post-election mess. Fox was the only source reporting what was actually taking place.
Buh bye Newspink!

Angry Journalists Refuse to Review Anti-Obama Book
newsbusters ^ | May 8, 2010 | Lachlan Markay
One of the worst ways that the lack of ideological diversity in America’s newsrooms shows forth is in the media’s treatment of sensational accusations against the current president.
Oftentimes, explosive allegations against presidents are either untrue or drastically overstated: George W. Bush deliberately lying to get the U.S. to war so he can cash in or deliberately ignoring Hurricaine Katrina due to his hatred of black people (a la Kanye West), Bill Clinton’s supposed involvment in the drug trade, so on and so forth.
Journalists do the public a service by rebutting absurd conspiracy theories and wacko charges. In recent memory, though, they have taken a much greater zeal toward stamping out allegations against Democrats, particularly President Obama, a stark contrast to the kidglove or even promotional attitude they took toward books by liberal authors alleging all sorts of anti-Bush absurdities.
World Net Daily-affiliated author Aaron Klein recently discovered this when he sent his new book, “The Manchurian President,” to members of the media he hoped would review it. He got some very angry responses. Here are some of the more colorful ones:
“Never, ever contact me again,” wrote Time Magazine senior writer Jeffrey Kluger.
Newsweek deputy editor Rana Foroohar quipped,”This is sensational rubbish that is of no interest to any legitimate publication.”
“Absolute crap,” replied Evelyn Leopold, a Huffington Post contributor who served for 17 years as U.N. bureau chief for Reuters until recently.
Nancy Gibbs, editor-at-large for Newsweek, fired, “Remove me from your list.”
David Knowles, AOL’s political writer, responded, “seriously, get a life.”
Ben Wyskida, publicity director for The Nation, claimed Klein’s book is “so offensive” and “so far afield.”

Interesting. They profess satisfaction with their circulation, but take their editorial cues from the advertisers.
Newsweek's circulation has dropped to under 2 million.
Newsweeks circulation was 3.14 million in the first half of 2000. By the second half of 2009, that dropped to 1.97 million.
We benefit either way. If they straighten up and fly right, society benefits. If they don't, they go under, or Rupert Murdoch buys them at a bargain basement price.
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
“....because the magazine already sucked big time!”
I didn't know the president of America wasn't American!
Will the last person at Newsweak please shut off the fluorescent lights, empty the recycle bin, and set the programmable thermostat to “away”? Thanks.
Newsweak hurt by Tea Party.
Newsweek is Tiger Beat for Obamabots
They’re right. They couldn’t resurrect the dead.
A liberal posing as a journalist, working for a liberal TV network.....interviewing another liberal hack posing as a reporter of a commie rag that pretends to be a “news” mag.
Wow.
Here’s my prediction. Their parent company is desperate to dump them. Face it...Newsweek doesn’t turn any profit at all...and probably needs an infusion of sorts every month or two to survive.
The Newsweek folks will get pushed off to the first folks to buy them. Murdock of Fox enterprises? Yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if he walks...offers $150 million...and then brings in a brand new staff. Course, half the folks there will leave immediately and find no real employment. Within eight months...Newsweek is then turning a profit and talking of growth. Time looks over and tries to figure out where they screwed up.
