I've got an idea...why don't you spend the next eight hours searching the internet for a "reputable research report"...then get back to me with the information...

In the meantime, I'll continue to converse with the adults.

What do motorcycles have to do with Jesus?

I used to feel the same way until I had an accident on one.

Nice. Petroleum is used in virtually every part of that scooter. 25% of all oil use is non-fuel in nature.

It’s surprisingly cheap- about seven bills for a brand-new Hero Honda Dawn (Standard type) off the showroom floor. It’s a LOT lighter than what I ride, but it’s only for a couple of weeks or so. New buys me some reliability. Bike, rather than riding the rails, buys me spontaneity and fun. My friend is talking about going with, so no communications or guidance problems. Plus, he seriously knows people.

This is starting to sound like an idea.

You’re the aging noisemaker who suggested that making a nuisance on the road is safer.

I assume you have a reason for believing what you claim, or do just accept what all the other mid-life geezers say at face value?

Or do people who pay a premium for “noise vibration and harshness” also lack judgment or other matters of reasoning?

I’ll await the evidence for your absurd claim.

(How am I doing at being only half as much of an annoyance that you Harley boomers are? ;-)

Well, ya better be ready to meet Jesus if your’re counting on the loud pipes to save your life, at least here in Il right now (heat index 110 F). Everybody is driving around with the a/c on, and probably listening to something on the radio, OR yapping/texting on their cell phones.

To better warn those ahead, the loud pipes need to be aimed forward, and maybe one aimed up at the rider(s) to let them enjoy the sound too.

The above rider wearing a red shirt and riding the pink scooter is more like it. I know the black leather makes the riders look B-B-B-BAD, but it helps get them d-d-d-dead.

I’ve riden mostly with dark jackets, but almost always with a white helmet, and nearly all of my riding was rural, with little traffic to deal with.

City biking and wearing black.......you’re probably safer to go fight the Taliban.

BTW, my white hair is only long enough to cover the bald spot, per my wife’s instructions.

I don't need a "reputable research report"...I ride.

Now be a good metrosexual pansy and go away.

Woof! Woof!

I love it to death. I got a deal on it- I used a tool that mines Craigslist (http://www.craiglook.com) to find one within a reasonable distance that I could afford. I’m in NOVA in the DC area and found one in Knoxville, TN. I flew down there, liked what I saw, bought it, rode it home.

Never going to give it up- going to ride in to work tomorrow. Rain or shine.

Yeah, I'm in Missouri, but drove up to Northern Illinois to buy my Triumph (off Ebay).

Love the Triple.

I pulled the carbs off the Yamaha TW200 and XT250
bikes as they wouldn’t respond to the throttle.
After cleaning and a new battery on the TW200,
both bikes run fine. Just in time for fine weather
and another trip out of town so they can sit unused
another season.

I hope to have the Kendon trailer this weekend.
That raises the prospects for a visit home and
maybe a retrieval of the Roadster or the Roadliner
for use in August. The Roadliner only has 1664
miles on the odometer. The Roadster has around
7700 now. It had 7500 when purchased on June 4th.

45 miles on a charge. It's 35 miles one way to work in San Diego. In Idaho, it would be a 53 mile trip to work. Not good enough.

Heck yeah, and you just know the transistor radio sized battery will poop out right when it’s needed to pull yourself through a corner rather than go sprawling on the pavement.

Speed Triple?

I’ve definitely developed a thing for Triumphs.

I thought that was the one you rode home from SLC in the snow but that must have been the Yamaha.
