Artist Chad Person wasn't about to sit idly by and wait for the coming robot-zombie apocalypse, so he dug up his Albuquerque, N.M., backyard and built himself a custom survival shelter.
Dubbed RECESS (Resource Exhaustion Crisis Evacuation Safety Shelter), Person's project isn't some wonky, conceptual-art stunt, but a genuine reaction to these uncertain times, just like the growing Prepper Movement.
"The short answer is fear. Just purely fear," says Person when Asylum asked him why he spends his weekends designing bulletproof doors. Person had recently achieved the adult trifecta of wife-baby-house and found his protective instincts kicking into high gear -- so he decided to replace the pool with something a bit more useful.
"After a little while of careful thought, it really made logical sense to turn it into a bunker where I could store water and resources and food and weapons," says Person.

Around here we call them things storm cellars. I have a storm cellar and then I have my TEOTWAWKI buildings. This guy just has an idea and a publicist.

Its a chinese copy of the remington 870.
When the patent expired they started “pumping” them out cheap.
Wouldn’t a used (surplus and dirt cheap) ocean cargo container with doors work just fine? bury it in the yard .. instant shelter.
My boy lays those huge “Anti Hank” mines LoL
Beagles ? You don’t like to sleep ?

DON’T TRY THAT AT YOUR HOME!
Tell your Liberal ‘friends’ to do that, but do realize that the soil loads will collapse the sides in most soil conditions.
And don’t even think of burying the roof underground.
Bookmarking for the ZPL when I get home from work.
Weigh a ton, but they shoot pretty sweet... or (koff, koff) so I have heard from ‘friends’.
I don't know but he has an autographed copy of Al Gore's book.
His largest mistake is that he told everybody about it. Unless he built a second shelter and this first shelter is a diversion. LOL
Tragically, a cat walked on top of the amateur-poured roof, causing it to cave in, and crushed Person instantly.
Ironically, the zombies outside of the shelter were unharmed.
Ummm, if our ever so loving tolerant liberal government decides to take away our guns and escort us to 'camps'... we'll have an alternative... a cheap easy alternative.
