The pastor at the centre of the Koran-burning row has challenged a New York Imam to call off the building of a mosque at Ground Zero.Pastor Terry Jones and his colleague Pastor K A Paul read out their telephone number live on television and said the Imam has just two hours to respond.
Sky News' US correspondent Robert Nisbet, who was at the news conference, said: "This is absolutely extraordinary.
"It appear that the pastor has reconsidered his earlier deal over the New York mosque."

Who is going to insure it?
I don't agree - I think that the past day or so has done Jones some good.......but I must say I would not be part of his congregation.
I just don’t think it will happen. I think there are people (unions, etc.) who will make sure it doesn’t happen.

Jones has ignited a host of copycat whackjobs all threatening to burn a Koran from the nutjob preacher in Topeka,Ks who pickets military funerals to some other nutjob in Wyoming threatening to burn a Koran on the Wyoming capitol steps.I guess Jerry Springer wouldn’t give them their 15 minutes.
Frankly, I don’t care what the Muslims do. They’ll go crazy no matter what.
I was opposed to this minister’s action because I thought it was, as Ann Coulter put it, unkind.
But I don’t think we should let ourselves be threatened, and if that’s what the Muslims want to do, then we have to fight back.
The bottom line is that the Muslims are holding us hostage demanding we scrap our Constitutional rights to suit them.
If he were lied to by this guy once (presumably, according to his version of events), why is he supposedly going to believe him THIS time (assuming there was indeed a first time)?

No, wait, it's all off. It now appears as if the Muslims lied. What a shock. So now we have a deadline for the Imam to call Pastor Jones and 'talk'. Frankly, like many FReepers, I'm getting bored with this whole thing. Like you, I'm sick and tired of endless Muslim 'rage' and their demands for American society to conform to their wishes, which are ridiculous. I certainly don't need another lecture about showing 'tolerance' toward Islam when America has over 2,000 mosques, Manhattan has 100 mosques and our elected officials, up to the president, jump ten feet whenever a Muslim says 'boo!'
Although I remain skeptical of the actual benefit to be derived from burning Korans I'm mighty weary of the thinly-veiled threats from Muslims about the consequences of that act, as if Americans are supposed to cringe with fear. No way, Abdul. This isn't Europe. Just because America made a gigantic error in electing a radical socialist as our president, we're going to fix that and in the meantime, if you don't like the way we live in OUR country, go back to the sand pit you came from.

Yes, I’m afraid that’s the truth. Sadly, I think the Muslims have got a lot of supporters in this country, at least among the press and the left (that is, our “leaders”). It’s going to be really interesting to see how this shakes out.
I wonder what those 3000 plus souls would think...

That’s how I’m feeling too. I wasn’t in favor of the whole thing, but I’m sorry, I am just sick and tired of letting the Muslims push us around.
I know we should turn the other cheek, and we can do that by not responding to them with the evil they wish to inflict on us (in other words, we won’t go and blow up their civilian buildings or marketplaces or behead their journalists). But we have to stand firm on our basic principles and it looks as if the moment has arrived to “just say no” to Islam.
Why isn’t this getting more coverage? Did the press get scared?
