RINOs behind defeat of Tea Party candidates (Vanity)

Posted on 11/04/2010 9:18:47 AM PDT by JimWayne

Don't blame the Democrats for the defeat of Christine O'Doneell and Sharon Angle. The RINOs have worked hard and worked WITH the Dims to make sure that the Tea Party candidates would not win.

In Delaware, it was Karl Rove who opposed O'Donnell. In Nevada, it was a state level RINO who supported the Democrat. In Alaska, RINOs have done everything to prevent Joe Miller from winning. You can be sure that Ken Buck must have been done in by RINOs like Karl Rove.

A suggestion to hit back at them - deny RINOs the right to post on FR. If anyone brings up the claim that it is better to support a "winnable" anti-life and pro-spending candidate instead of a Tea Party candidate, how about showing zero tolerance and kicking them out instantly even if they have been around for 10 years. Surely, GOP officials use FR to their benefit. Why not pay back in their own coin? If they don't support us, why should we support them?

There are a lot of things FR is.
There are a lot of things FR is not.
One thing FR is NOT is boring. If all the dissenters were banned it would be about as interesting as a box of rocks.

vBut saying her issues are “platitudes” are nothing but your opinion,

To clarify - her issues are far, FAR from platitudes to ME. But coming out of her mouth, that's what they sounded like. Mainly because she failed to follow up on them or back them up with a plan and/or further ideas. That's what I meant.

Now you say she gave good interviews to Greta et. al. Admittedly, I don't watch Greta, nor much TV really, so I'll withdraw my statement.

However, if we all pretend that every single conservative candidate is 100% wonderful, we're in for a wake up call. Some are not great. Some are great. Some are middling. Some focus on fiscal issue (Yay!), some focus on social issues (Yawn) - and half the people on FR would switch my parenthetical Yay and Yawn.

Which is FINE. The OP is suggesting any minor differences of opinion is fodder for a banning. It's as if he wasn't around when FR was a BushBot site... and then a McCainBot site... Oh yeah, looking at his start date, perhaps he wasn't.

But currently, not a powerhouse.

Oh, OK thanks.

Could you list the "powerhouse" conservative websites that are more effective than FR?

Angle’s campaign was not terrible. She ran a pretty good campaign and led the polls or was tied almost throughout. She stayed on message and did well in debates. This comes out to GOTV and voting shenanigans. There are certainly things she could have done better, and she probably wouldn’t have been my choice in the primary, but she did not blow it. Reid’s machine just took care of business.

O’Donnell was not a great candidate, but was not that terrible. She was right on the issues and was able to unseat one of the most powerful people in Delaware politics in the primary. If she had a unified party in the state and out of DC, she would have had a chance. Frankly, it was unlikely to be successful even if she had those things, but it would have been a different race. At least Castle didn’t join Kirk in the Senate to cause more liberal republicans.

Revenge? That’s sure to be useful. Let’s show anyone who disagrees with us, or you, how mature adults solve conflict. We get revenge on them.

Let me tell a story. Years ago on FR there was a thread about a story involving assault weapons. I honestly had never thought much about why it would be a bad idea to make certain kinds of guns illegal. I innocently asked WHY would anyone even want to own an AK-47.

Hah! What a thread. I was laughed at, humiliated, called every name in the book and troll was the nicest one!

I continued to ask questions- even though it wasn’t much fun- because I really wanted to understand. Eventually some serious FReepers came to the thread and began to answer my questions and explain the issues at stake. At the end - I had been educated by some very smart, well-informed freepers - they were willing to be patient with me.

Another thing I’ve learned- debating with people who disagree with me sharpens my skills and forces me to really think about my values and principles.

You're twisting my message. When I suggested revenge, it was to get back at those who helped the defeat of the Tea Party candidates, not those who expressed an opinion on various topics. I was very specific - do not allow the supporters of the backstabbers.

Go watch her concession speech, for her most recent. She came off like a complete child. Go to her first debate I watched. Awful. The childish smiling, the facial expressions. Not leadership.

I really don’t want the only “debates” on FR to be Catholics vs. Protestants vs. Mormons.

Nothing would drive me away faster.

It was not an “ad” per say - It was the press release that RNC put out about creating a TV ad in which they were looking for “hicky” looking actors - The DNC ran with this stupid press release and made issue of it throughout WV.

>>There was a lot of nasty stuff said about Christine here on FR.<<

I agree and was dismayed to see the lack of support. The problem is that many don’t understand that anything other then full support after a candidate is chosen in the primaries is defeating the purposes we are working for.

Just like with Rove these people have self interest over common good. They may even be right in their analysis but don’t understand the damage done at that particular time. They haven’t realized the truth of “if you can’t say anything positive you should just shut up”. If they refuse to understand you just have to realize you just can’t fix stupid.

NO, There are many roads in life. We must make the case that the conservative road is the correct course.
Restricting free ideas is a Liberal tactic. We must not become them!

*rolls eyes*

I’m sure I would be a RINO in your eyes. Cut spending, shrink the Government, get out of people’s bedrooms.

How difficult is that?

“There were a lot of freepers who spent a lot of time tearing down Christine”

Freepers? I didn’t see any of that. she is beloved by a lot of conservatives, including myself.
The people tearing COD down were the MSM and the left.

Some Republicans were frustrated that she let herself be a target, and wanted someone more ‘electable’. Well, they needed to hold their tongue then, and people trying to run them off now - for the crime of speaking their minds - needs to calm down. Stop the ripping down approach.

dont make it worse by attacking others, like ...
“Mormonism is a cult. ....” ... apropos nothing at all.

“Others think it ok to just rip and tear at people who are threatening.”

Which is what the “we should take revenge” essay is trying to do. Rip and tear at people. Not the best way to go forward.

“Apparently you think that’s ok.”

Wrong. You’d make a terrible psychic.

My feet are still aching from 12 hours standing and working polls Tuesday. A lot was done by a lot of people on the conservative and Republican side to make a lot of people win. Many of our favorite conservative candidates didn’t make it. Many did. Quit whining and blasting other Republicans and focus on the positive that was done on Tuesday, and build on it.

None, it’s just that 10 years ago there weren’t anywhere near as many. So FR’s power was more, because Conservatives weren’t all over the place. Conservatives are spread out a lot more now. “Powerhouse” is a really strong word. I just don’t think that “powerhouse” applies to FR right now. I’m not saying that there’s a more powerful Conservative site. I’m saying that I don’t think that any specific Conservative site is a “powerhouse”.

Restricting free ideas is a Liberal tactic.

You are twisting my words too. Expressing an idea is one thing, actively supporting a RINO and indulging in propaganda for them during election season is wholly another ball game. My suggestion is to go after the second category of people who worked to make it tough for Tea Party candidates to win. The elections are over, but we can still identify the propagandists for the RINOs.

Well put, I am new as a member but have read FR for years as part of my news reading. I am 47 and would consider myself conservative on the lines of my original congressman Dan Lungren -a friend of the family- when he was a congressman here in the Long beach area. As someone new I am little apprehensive now to post, a little worried I could be banned. I have posted before that COD was a poor candidate and was fearful that she -not Rubio,Ayotte,Johnson- would become the narrative for conservative views and I felt like she was doing more damage than anything else to our cause.

I don’t feel I have to prove my conservative credentials to anyone as I walk the walk but i would hope some good natured differences would be tolerated.

You missed a lot of really nasty things said about Christine by freepers (let’s call them trolls) in the days before the election. They were tearing down Christine. Freepers.

No, the election is over, and we’re doing analysis. And a conclusion is that Freepers tearing down Christine - who was a Conservative, if nothing else - did not help Christine. And they should go.

Apparently tearing down candidates was ok. I think I’ll tear down Romney, and I think I might be as nasty about it as freepers were to Christine. Maybe nastier. Romney is not the nominee. Romney is not conservative.

If it’s ok to tear down a conservative nominee here, it should be encouraged to tear down a not conservative, not nominee. Did you hear that Romney believes that Jesus visited the US? That’s CRAZY. Romney is CRAZY. I don’t think that Americans will vote for a CRAZY person. That’s a perfectly acceptable position that I’m taking. How many wives does Romney have? 1, that we know of. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

No, I think that some people should build on the future. Good suggestion for those who aren’t unhappy with what Rove and the rest of the neocons did.

But I think I’m going to attack Rove and Romney and the neocons. They attacked Conservatives, and they need to be destroyed. Because if they’re still around, they’ll tear down what we build. Crush them. Rove is more the enemy than the Democrats. We have traitors, and we need to get rid of them.
