Dancing With the Stars: Shock and Awe in the Ballroom (Free Republic blamed)
The Toronto Star ^ | Wednesday, November 17, 2010 | Debra Yeo

Posted on 11/17/2010 7:19:48 AM PST by kristinn

The Internet's been buzzing with talk about how members of the U.S. Tea Party movement have been getting out the vote for Bristol Palin on Dancing With the Stars.

The blog Jezebel had a post about it today, complete with quotes from conservative message boards about how Bristol's supporters were exploiting ABC's email voting system to cast multiple ballots for Sarah Palin's daughter.

Jezebel quoted one site, FreeRepublic.com, that urged its members to "make liberal heads explode" by voting for Bristol, "even though she is not the best dancer."

Well, my liberal head is kind of exploding right now because Bristol made the finals on DWTS at the expense of a far superior dancer, Brandy.

And if Bristol thinks she made it just on the quality of her dancing, that's about as believable as seeing Russia from her mother's house. Even if her presence in the final three isn't part of some right-wing voting conspiracy, Bristol's appeal to viewers isn't strictly about skill on the dancefloor.

Maybe it's her youth, what Len Goodman called her vulnerability or the fact she's not typical Hollywood, which is the argument she herself made on Monday's show. And there's no denying she's come a long way since Week 1, given that she had no previous dance experience.

But in my opinion, the three best dancers aren't in the finale and I'm bummed about that.

Bristol is not a very good dancer.

That’s OK, and she has a bit of baby fat to boot. She seems deliberate in her steps but Hey .. It’s a popularity contest, something the left revels in, until now.

If they want to change the rules, let ‘em.

I just found out today that I am part of a right wing conspiracy..why am I always the last one to find out these things LOL

Conspiracy, these people are MORONS..there is NO conspiracy here, we are voting for her, over and over and over again..These idiots just prove how come Obama won in 2008, they all voted for Kyle, Jennifer has her fan base, we voted for Bristol and no one voted for Brandy, there, how simple is that. I just solved the whole freakin mystery

Poor Bebra. Perhaps now she knows how most folks felt when Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize over those certainly more deserving!

Obama is not a very good president.

Non sequitur reply. This has nothing to do with Obama.

Barack Obama is not even ELIGIBLE to be president.

What does this have to do with Obama?

Bristol’s courage on DWTS will go a long way to positively influence young women in America.

One time I agitated Dr. Scarpetta and his DWTS groupies. Have you SEEN one of their weekly DWTS live threads?

Anyway - because I made fun of Bristol - his ping list was called down upon me and HOLY CRAP! I had to put on my flame proof dancing tights to fend them all off.

Anyway - I had a hell of a good time.

There were other dancers who were so much better, but were still eliminated.

Could it be Bristol has a following of her own? Regardless of her grace on the floor and/or her mother’s political views? One of the local broadcasters has been adamant about her disdain of Bristol, and one of the stars of a drag queen show here in Vegas even said he would wear a monkey suit if Bristol wasn’t eliminated the next night.

He wore the suit. Bristol is still there. What’s the problem?

Debra Yeo is suffering from a cranial-rectal inversion.

The lack of oxygen has clearly affected her critical thinking abilities.

Obama got elected to Law Review, State Senate and President US in rigged popularity contests, and Obama is unable to dance the dance of being eligible for office.

Many of the folks complaining about super-popular Bristol winning are Obama voters.

Oh good grief, that’s how these shows work. Every contestant usually has groups of people who rally for them. Heck, there are entire facebook groups dedicated to pimping your contestant of choice. For example, let’s say that Brandy is a member of PETA (not saying she is, just an example), then PETA members would rally to vote for her..

It is how the game is played.

How did Debra feel about the Goracle and President Zero winning Nobel Prizes? I was really bummed about that.
