Palin Takes On PETA
National Review (the Corner) ^ | 12/5/2010 | Katrina Trinko

Posted on 12/06/2010 5:06:45 AM PST by Servant of the Cross

Up tonight on TLC’s Sarah Palin’s Alaska: the former governor is waging war on “anti-hunting hypocrisy.”

“See how we fill our freezers and feed our families with home-grown tundra-roaming Alaskan wild game,” wrote Palin on Facebook. “And, PETA, please remember: Alaskans eat, therefore we hunt.”

She also indicated that the episode would showcase the potential for oil drilling in Alaska’s Article National Wildlife Refuge. “You’ll also see us hunting at the edge of ANWR,” Palin promised, “where you can see the uninhabited lands that warehouse billions of barrels of American energy supplies underground just waiting for the political will to allow responsible resource development.”

And for anyone who considers hunting “controversial,” Palin had this message: “Unless you’ve never worn leather shoes, sat upon a leather couch or eaten a piece of meat, save your condemnation of tonight’s episode.”

He may have moved the scope when he fell down. Sarah’s first shot out of the other rifle downed the big Buck.

Last night’s episode was really a good one. I REALLY like her Dad, his home was awesome, the collection of animal skulls was pretty amazing.

My favorite part though...she missed 5 shots with the one rifle (the 7mm Magnum?) and finaly got one with the other one. My (democrat) gentleman friend, who doesn’t care for Palin, was counting the missed shots and getting a chuckle. I said I’ll bet the sight is off (I had a 7mm Magnum...and could never get the scope to work right, I just counted on the hood sight). Anyway, she made a $5 bet with her Dad and Becker that the sight was off. When her Dad fired the rifle later, and missed high on several shots, the same as Sarah, and she WON that $5!!!...and I sat there nice and smug..and my gentleman friend was quiet. :-).

I *think* slowly but surely he is seeing the light and not the media created image that the Left would like him to see. It’s an ongoing conversation...film at 11.

More than likely, they hit it on something while loading the plane. It should have been checked at the first stop before flying into the hunting area. Not only does it make the future president look like a bad shot, (which I’m sure she is not), but it would be very dangerous in the event of a bear or wolf attack.

10 minutes into Sara Palin's acceptance speech at the 2008 GOP Convention

I recall her suddenly stopping her speech, facing the audience and giving the brief hocky-mom comments. I thought that rather strange. Then, she continued on, without missing a beat.

Why the pause? That was when the teleprompter broke. She used the hocky-mom comments to gather her thoughts. She didn't panic.

After she finished her speech, the media commentators mentioned that the teleprompter had broken down.

==

The irony now, two years later, is that The One can hardly even make normal political comments without a teleprompter. Sarah Palin basically have her acceptance speech at the GOP Convention, broadcast to multi-millions, without the teleprompter.

Notice the contrast: 7:36 minutes of Obama without being able to refer to his teleprompter

I understand your position, being a “senior” myself, but going on a hunt without checking the rifle’s zero in camp is not prudent. At least the shots were clean misses, what if Sarah had gut shot the caribou in front of an audience of libs?

Sarah’s father fell and THAT knocked the rifle’s scope out of true.

Considering all the ‘hype’ about next week’s show since it took place, I’m betting it’ll be a whole lotta nuthin’.

I love Sarah, and I enjoyed last night’s show, but I will not be tuning in to see next week’s episode because the attention addict Gosselin will be on.

I know it’s corny, but I didn’t see where anyone else said it, so: PETA Is people eating tasty animals.

Most libs wouldn’t even know what a “gut” shot was. They’ll just be horrified that she killed an animal at all. I know the hunters are out on this thread but for us sissies on the east coast, this episode was amazing. I was fascinated and moved by the episode.

Palin’s Dad is a cool guy, but I just wish he had sighted in his rifle. Good thing he hunting buddy had sighted in his, or Sarah wouldn't have gotten anything.

It was a shame that her dad didn’t check the zero on his before the hunt.

He probably did, but if you recall, he took a sharp fall on the way out, and that is what likely knocked the scope off zero.

I think the point of the episode was to introduce Chuck Heath as Sarah’s father and show what a heckuva man he is...

However,we were shocked that the Palin’s would agree to have Gosselin on the show.

She likely had no choice---remember that Discovery/TLC is her employer, and the execs probably wanted to do a crossover episode to try and revive Gosselin's struggling show. Ever-positive Sarah is just making the most of it.

The first time I saw this bumper sticker I chuckled, and still laugh at it. Just had some venison stew last night, crock pot style.

I have had my ‘square offs’ with others in here regarding Palin’s qualifications for President, but there is one thing I do admire about her, she doesn’t give a tinker’s damn about what others think is acceptable.

The same fru fru libs that were horrified at her wacking that halibut are the ones who will be eating it at $50 a plate with a sprig of parsley.

Almost a certainty.

Most scope mounts aren’t able to take a real knocking about without losing the zero. Many scopes aren’t able to keep zero themselves, (never mind the mounts) if subjected to a shock.

Mounts and scopes that maintain their zero despite being dropped cost more than most rack-grade sporting rifles. Figure north of $1K for the glass, a few hundred for the mounts for a truly tough setup.

I’ll explain the obvious to you.Hollywood is trying marginalize and trivialize Palin by having this mammal on the show.

What mammal are you talking about? Your statement doesn’t even make sense much less “explain the obvious.”
