Is that a crosshair he put on himself? Ironically, I think the symbol is actually a Surveyor's mark, which is what Sarah used on her map.
Given the context the book cover is trying to convey, the symbol really ought to be a crosshair, but I guess they still can't tell the difference.

In this picture, he’s apparently pretending to portray a “deer in the headlights” with that glassy-eyed stare and the antlers above his head. It looks like a comic book cover.
If this is his attempt to make Palin look ridiculous, the joke’s on him.
