Sarah Palin Appearance at Tea Party Rally in Iowa ‘No Longer Confirmed’
WSJ ^ | August 31, 2011 | Danny Yadron

Posted on 08/31/2011 8:11:56 AM PDT by markomalley

Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.

The person cited “continual lying” from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell of Delaware would also speak.

Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palin’s speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nation’s first nominating contest next year.

The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.

Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. It’s also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.

The former governor’s team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. O’Donnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. O’Donnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

The sad part is that none of them will admit it and just blend into the crowd when they are proven wrong.

This is classic psyops. All the military vets here should recognize it for what it is.

Come on guys! speak up! Am I wrong?

FR is clearly not a good barometer of national popularity. (see 2008)

my wife thinks she’s angling for next Arizona senate seat

Makes sense. More sense than POTUS.

Yeah, I felt really bad. I remember telling an acquaintence in October of 2008, “Don’t worry. Obama is so obviously an empty suit - or worse - that people will not vote him in. There simply are not that many stupid Americans.”

I had to apologize later. I draw a distinction between ignorant and stupid. At the time I was ignorant of the possibility that the pollsters are pretty good, over time, at what they do.

Now I have knowledge. If I still believed that, my position would no longer be described as ignorant. It would be described as stupid.

can I ask a question...and you seem to keep up a lot with this if you are screen capturing tweets...foreign to me

I recall the Palin and Bruce thing peripherally and Pissant’s comment best left as deer camp joke

but given Bruce adores Palin..which is fine and innocent enough

what are Palin’s views on homosexual marriage?

is Bruce anti homosexual marriage...a few are?

it’s an odd couple but fair enough...I know homosexuals down here in Dixie who are quiet and socially conservative and have their fun at home in their bedroom and don’t adopt kids and push their ways

frankly..my doubts are growing about Palin running...unless she wants Perry to deflate a bit

Well, since you are so deeply invested in Perry, I would expect you to read anything Palin as bad as possible. But you really should avoid exaggeration. Every candidate is trying to get people’s attention, but if Palin shows up at the Iowa state fair it’s “drama?” Not really. Just good retail politics. Besides, a little “drama” would naturally result from an honest person trying to work within a corrupt system. Her years in Alaska had some “drama” too, like incarcerating members of her own party for corruption. That kind of drama is a good thing.

And the reason this “frontal lobe” supporter likes Palin is the promise she holds to really shake up the system, which my “frontal lobe” tells me is essential if we are to survive this ugly episode in our history. Your guy will blend right into the woodwork. Seriously. I’m like Palin. I have no use for people who break promises. If Perry is the nominee, I will be deeply conflicted about voting for him. Deeply, seriously conflicted. Not so with Palin. Like the song says, “She’s .. easy to vote for.”

one of my pet peves here always has been freepers who do not read the whole freepin thread...

long ago I broke it down this way

a republican reads from the forward point of their post

conservatives read every post

liberals only read what they themselves wrote

commies hate that you can read

Connected circles in DFW are chattering that Palin is going to endorse Perry. I won’t be surprised if she does.

The biggest news is that we finally have people willing to admit that Christine O’Donnell is an idiot.

O'Donnell should be ashamed of herself...trying to coattail a book signing on to an event that will draw thousands due to the presence of Sarah Palin. As of now, this clusterf*ck has dragged O'Donnell out from under her rock, and Perry out from under his (if his operatives were behind this)...

Get a grip people. Palin is not the source of these problems.

That is absolutely correct. They're forgetting she's playing in their field, and acknoledged as such, without actually claiming so...... Brilliant!

She's going to surely be dodging bullits and sniper attacks now. Amazing to watch her....she reminds me of a military leader in a war zone.

Correction - you've been on this site for 10 years, 257 days longer than he has.

I had 2 “tickets” for this and was planning to attend. I ma going to wad them up and use them both to light my grill this weekend to do do Hamburgers. Typical IOWA Cluster****! This State is SO ****ING STUPID alot of the time!

Before I would get upset, I would consider the source....person close to Sarah but no name given....

I know the Tea Party Express Tour schedule and OFTEN the speakers get confirmed last minute, and often conflicts come up and speakers have to withdraw. Perfect example is the fact that Congresswoman Bachmann is going to speak at the TPX rally at 5PM in Des Moines and it was just announced hours ago.

Go to this thread to keep up with Tea Party Express Tour schedule and changes.

“14 months to the election and the chicken littles here act like it’s next week. Pathetic that “WAAAA!!!! IWANT IT NOWWWW!!! thinking has infected FR.

Considering the political attention span of the general public is about a week, the later she announces, the better. Let all the FR fair weather “supporters’ go carry Perry’s water now if they have so little faith IMO.”

Post of the thread.

It is very disappointing to see intelligent conservatives accept the crisis-every-day timeline of the enemy SissyBoySlapParty media.

Of course when the objective is to massage one’s ego by being “right” as opposed to putting the best conservative possible (which MAY be Sarah Palin),into the White House, logical and reason go out the window.

“I doubt she could beat Obama”

If the Stupid Party runs a halfway competent campaign (figure the odds) they could choose a pail of hyena diarrhea as their nominee and still beat Obama.

But, Hell, they don’t call them the Stupid Party for nothing.
