Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: NY-9 is “a very difficult district for Democrats”
Hot Air ^ | Sep. 14, 2014 | NA

Democratic party leaders insisted the loss wasn’t a harbinger of things to come. “It’s a very difficult district for Democrats,” said Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, noting its Democratic margins there tend to be the second lowest of all the districts in New York City. House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio), dismissed that idea.

“This is a very seriously Democrat district,” Mr. Boehner said. “This is not a district that Republicans have any right to believe we could win.”

From now on, Chairman Washerwoman, DemocRATs are going to have a very rough time. Had they continued on unabated Washington, DC would take on an aura similar to Madrid in 1936 and after the right won the results would not be pretty.

Unlike Madrid, Obama doesn’t need the USSR as he’s got most of the nation’s communists either in his White Hut or in the Congress.

Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz is stupid and dishonest. And those are her good points.

Have you seen any comments from Pelosi?

No. Search Pelosi in the news function of Yahoo, Google, etc. It would be worth its own thread, I'm sure.

Weiner won 60%-40% against Weprin last time out. Hardly a “difficult” seat.

There is no singular reason for the Dems to have lost this particular seat, just a lot of bungling of a lot of things with various constituencies in addition to general malaise and a desire for change.

Well Deb, if NY-9 was a very difficult district for democrats, I foresee 435 very difficult districts for democrats in 2012. Get ready for the mother of all landslides for the republican party.

“It’s a very difficult district for Democrats,”

That what Red Auerbach used to say about the Boston Celtics playing in the Boston Garden......nobody bought that either.

”It took the entire Democratic Executive Committee to come up with this one”...

The margin is 'only' two to one instead of three or four to one, right?.

It's 3:1 in the NY9CD, but she's right about the citywide figures. The city's average is only about 15 % GOP, and the lion's share is in Staten Island. That said many are just nominal rats because, if you need a favor from someone in gubmint, you better be a rat.

Weiner won 60%-40% against Turner last time out. Weprin retains his sinecure as an assemblyman. After this debacle, maybe he'll get a serious challenger.

Wasserman Schultz actually told the truth, although in a convoluted way. The Dems, running Weiner in 2010, got "only" 60% of the vote in the 9th District, which really was their next to lowest percentage of all the congressional districts in NYC.

She could also have made the equally lame excuse that the turnout was low, so the vote didn't really reflect the views of all people in the district. Or she could have paraphrased what her fellow 'Rat congresscritter Henry Waxman had to say: Jews were voting Republican selfishly to protect their wealth from Obama.

She may want to see how difficult her district is to win?

A party committee chairman has to face the press the day after a loss and put the best face on things. It’s in the job description. That often leads them to say mockable things.

That said, this is seriously stupid. There is a whole staff full of people at the DCCC who are supposed to help the chairman craft the message. And this is the best they can do?

Perhaps she was quoted correctly but she was heard to say going forward from here.

One issue not discussed AFAIK, is the impending loss of 2 seats in NY, due to the 2010 census. Odds are good that if the dems are controlling the process, this district may be dropped.
