A CBS News/New York Times poll taken from September 10th-15th (both before and after the most recent debate) shows Rick Perry with a 7-point edge (23 to 16 percent) over Mitt Romney among registered voters who intend to vote in a Republican primary or caucus.

Among the roughly half (49 percent) of Republican primary voters "who support the Tea Party movement," Perry has by far the highest net favorability rating (+53 percent),

Of note, Sarah Palin's net favorability rating is only +12 percent among Tea Party-supporting Republicans.

Looks like most tea party Republicans have some common sense too and recognize that Perry is the most conservative electable Republican.

This one thing I thought you would find interesting. I just don’t want you to get your hopes up quite yet. We still have a LONG primary season that has not even begun yet. Not one vote has been cast. Relax. If Perry is supposed to be our candidate he will be.....however, I really really really hope that Palin will be the next President of the United States.

About the same time in the last election cycle here is where the GOP presidential contenders stood:

GIULIANI 34%

THOMPSON 23%

MCCAIN 16%

ROMNEY 9%

When Romney invokes the Magic Underpants this will change.

BOW DOWN before the underpants!

Link to actual poll results:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/docs/2011/NYT_CBS_Republicans_0916.pdf

From the poll results statement:

“Sarah Palin receives her highest unfavorable rating (62%) in this poll since CBS News began asking about her in 2008. And for the first time, more Republicans now view her unfavorably than favorably.”

On page 4-5 of the poll:

View of Palin:

Among all registered voters: 20% fav, 62% unfav
Among Republican voters: 36% fave, 39% unfav
Among tea party: 44% fav, 32% unfav.

Being the piñata at the last debate doesn’t seemed to have damaged him too much.

He can expect more tag-teaming at future debates, as the front leader.

Perry has my vote so far, but things can change. Romney doesn’t talk about tort reform or have any meaningful history of attempting to tackle the subject.

“About the same time in the last election cycle here is where the GOP presidential contenders stood:

GIULIANI 34%

Now:

“Rick Perry 23%
Mitt Romney 16
Newt Gingrich 7
Michele Bachmann 7”

I guess that means, by your “logic” that Gingrich or Bachmann will be the GOP nominee and how do you think they would do against Obama?

From the article:

“Of note, Sarah Palin’s net favorability rating is only +12 percent among Tea Party-supporting Republicans.”

Of note 35% of those polled expressed no preference at all, a number 50% more than Perry’s total of 23%.

This is far from over. Wonder why CBS decided not to post the results of the horserace numbers with Palin included. Perhaps they wouldn’t fit with their chosen headline.

Yesterday's Rasmussen poll had your boy Perry down by seven to Bamy.

One of these days you will learn about the reliability of polls this far from an election.

however, I really really really hope that Palin will be the next President of the United States.

She's not running. She won't be the next President of the United States.

While I wouldn't trust a CBS/NY Times poll for much, compared to most of the other Republicans, Palin's numbers are simply atrocious.

In this and other polls Palin actually manages to even be viewed more negatively than positively among Republicans. And in this particular poll a majority of Republicans do not even want to see her be a major national political figure.

If Palin had just kept her job as Governor and stayed away from fluff Reality TV and spotlight hogging media appearances she might have been able to compete this time around. Which is why it's obvious she isn't running in 2012. Unless she is just getting horrible political advice, she had to know the path she's chosen would preclude her from a campaign this time around.

By all means, let's believe everything state-controlled media tells us and allow them to pick our candidate again and again and again and...

Governor Palin is the turd in the Perry punch bowl. So I'm sure most of his supporters view her “favorably”. /s

You can't be serious. From February 2011 to August 2011 according to CNN her favorability rating increased. It has only been the last month since she has been shining the light on the Republican pretend conservatives have these alleged "negatives" begun to increase.
