NC governor recommends suspending democracy to focus on jobs

As a way to solve the national debt crisis, North Carolina Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue recommends suspending Congressional elections for the next couple of years.

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover,” Perdue said at a rotary club event in Cary, North Carolina, according to the Raleigh News and Observer. “I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”

Perdue said she thinks that temporarily halting elections would allow members of Congress to focus on the economy. “You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things,” Perdue said.

North Carolina Republicans immediately scoffed at Perdue’s proposal, pointing out to her that elections hold politicians accountable for their actions. “Now is a time when politicians need to be held accountable more than ever,” North Carolina GOP spokesman Rob Lockwood said in an email to The Daily Caller. “To suspend an election would be removing the surest mechanism that citizens have to hold politicians accountable: The right to vote.”

In the Civil War, the North held its regularly scheduled elections and it was probably one of the proudest moments in constitutional democracy—not just in the US, but in the world. How we have fallen.

I see a lot of comments here about the governor being deranged, delusional, dumb, etc. Never underestimate your opponent. This is the sentiment of many leftists. The libs I work work keep talking about Republicans going to prison. Perdue’s comment was undoubtedly a trial balloon. Now others can start saying this and generate even more nationwide support from leftists.

The governor is guilt of sedition, not treason. Remember that the Constitution provides a very narrow definition of treason, and mere advocacy of the overthrow of the government does not meet that definition.

How many people said that suspending elections would definitively be on the table after four years of Obama?

Your comments against women reflect poorly on the quality of discussion on this board. Are you a troll sent to make FR look bad.

First question: pretty sure there is no relation to the chicken empire.

Second question: damned yankees who have moved to North Carolina to escape liberal states with no jobs and then vote the same stuff on us. Also, teachers union drone — NC technically doesn’t have unionized teachers but they are still organized about the same way.

My comments were not "against women". My comments were against a certain type of "women" in politics and positions of power. Comments based upon a history of having to fend off such lunatic leftist women on city councils, school boards, water districts, state legislatures, etc. Leftist nutcase women who all have what I described in common. These women have no other goal in life but to take away my rights and the rights of others and replace it with their thumbs. The only things that these leftist hags can find to give them a tingle is their lust for power, their pursuit of power and their sick desire to squash anyone that does not bow to them.

They are the ones that hug the trees, castrate the minds of young males, promote the deaths of the unborn, transfer the wealth of the producers to the unproductive and do whatever else they can to take away freedoms. You used the word "discussion". No such word applies to these "women". They have no ability to modify their ways.

I will not be generous to them and I will describe them as I have seen them time and time again. You may not like the description. You may think it crass or troll like but I really don't care.

MKM, I have had a busy week and am just catching up on pings.

I gotta tell you though, I LOVE your comment. Awesome!

Sugar Dumplin removing all doubt, in case anyone still had any, that she is dumber than a box of rocks and redder than NC clay.

They ALREADY tell the electorate to go fsck themselves and enact things they know are directly opposed by the majority of their constituents. (See Obama"care". See TARP, etc.) Maybe elections should be changed to every year vs. every two, and add public flogging of the incumbent if he lloses. They sure don't mind flogging us.

The interesting thing is that most conservative women within the same age group do not have this issue.

Well, they were more sane in the first place.

I just heard of this today and even coming from a Progressive Marxists this comment is really hard to digest.

She speaks like the female version of the Forrest Gump - but the content of her speech sounds like something from a despot like Chairman Mao.

It all sounds like Fascism to me, and I am sure that there will be many of in in this Country that will defend our Right to Vote.

She might want to take a quick look at how Americans responded to King George when he messed with their Rights to be represented.
