Posted on 11/02/2011 1:12:28 PM PDT by Perdogg

Was the recent attack on Herman Cain’s presidential campaign a professional hit job? Absolutely, says Herman Cain. And he says he knows just where to look for the guy who did it: At 815 Slaters Lane in Alexandria, Virginia, a low-slung former warehouse in the shadow of a coal plant.

1) Perry is already toast, has been for weeks, and

2) Since when does running for President mean you are no longer allowed an opinion? Cain can say he thinks it to be true without facts all day long.

If it’s true, is it still a smear?

Good point. I thought of that, too. The actual hire date doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I agree.

“Nope this is a Romney operation. I’d bet on it but Herman won’t say so because he’s really running for the number two spot on the ticket of the only candidate in the race he says he respects. Mitt Romney.”

It is in Cain’s interest to paint the revealing of the sexual harassment settlements as a political hit run by his rivals. That way, the revelation can backfire on whatever rival campaign allegedly “leaked” the story.

So give Caim some credit - he knew this was going to come out. I distinctly remember him cautioning everyone as his numbers rose as the 9-9-9 plan became the center of attention, that he had a target on his back now, and that if something did not come out, “people would make something up”. So, the Cain campaign was ready for this and is spinning this as a hit job on Cain - with Cain the victim.

There were too many people who were involved in the situation, lawyers, the accusers, the accusers friends and family, employees at the National Restaurant Association, for this not to come out.

I think it was Monday. Monday he wasn’t aware of a settlement because he just turned the allegation over to the board and never heard anything about it again. Tuesday it was a hand gesture taken out of context that was settled behind closed doors and no one was supposed to talk about it. Today’s another day with another woman. I’m really disappointed.

That is a complete load of crap. You Perrybots have been mounting hit and run raids for months...now your boy may have started the GOP civil war.

I vote that the Democrats did it.

Cain was beginning to worry them and a major Dem fantasy is that all conservative Republicans are bluenose racists who would run in horror from some sex maniac minority candidate who is fond of harassing women.

Plus, think of all the experience they got with this sort of thing during the Clinton years.

"There are many RINOs and leftists who want to see Cain fail right now...and they will be pouring on the steam. We will have to decide if there’s anything to it...but right now, I believe Herman Cain and trust him and those who vouch or him. I will not buy into the attacks without a lot more evidence and smoking guns than what we have seen. Right now, it smells like what I believe it is...a smear job by scheming pols to bring down a decent man who is surprising them all with his campaign."

Totally agree. bttt

BagCamAddict: Cain told his strategy guy (the guy now working for Perry) about this in 2003. The article says Cain does not regret telling him because your strategy guy needs to know everything in order to do his job....
But if Cain told the strategy guy about it in 2003, surely he told Mark Block about it in 2011. So what's up with Cain and the campaign claiming they had to wrack their brains? Or are we talking about different incidents?

Why, why was Cain not prepped to handle this when it inevitably came out?

If Perry or Romney didn't pull this sick stunt now, then Obama's mobsters would be glad to do it at the most hurtful time next year.

Outside the beltway is a good thing. Amateur hour against the vicious Marxist crew is not.

Shullbit, the emotion, or should I say idolization or adoration, is all on the side of you Perrywinkles.

My support for Cain comes from my personally knowing the man and from my 5 years of listening to him on WSB Atlanta.

Mrs. C, AKA Baghdad Betty has turned me off on Perry so much that I couldn’t support him over Romney, that’s how bad you people are.

I'm tired of him running his damn mouth WITHOUT any facts to back his empty words up with. And if I recall, it was Cain who attempted to smear Rick Perry over a word on a rock that Perry had nothing to do with.

I hope all the gaffes and inconsistencies will be noticed by voters in the primaries so we pick a candidate for the general election who can not only win, but will get something done. It would be a shame to lose this opportunity to roll back liberalism. Perry is the man for the job.

I would agree with your post#201 except for one thing:

Cain does appear to have at least a mild case of diarrhea of the mouth.

If it turns out he made this accusation based on nothing but “feelings”... wow. Double wow. Triple wow.

You’re probably right about Perry, though. Even if this blows up in Cain’s face, it doesn’t necessarily bring Perry back to life. The 4th possibility that I didn’t list is: they are both toast. And that is a possibility going forward.

I vote that the Democrats did it.

It's a year too early for them. Perry can't last more than a couple of months...if that.

Pushing the story? I don’t care if Cain is a womanizer or a lech. I disagree with him on policy and will continue to work to promote my candidate’s superiority to him.

This story has its own legs. If Cain is mostly clean, most people won’t care. If Cain is dirty on this one, he’s gonna tank. Cain’s an amateur trying to play in the big leagues. “They’re picking on me ‘cause I’m black” might play with the base, but nowhere else. He’s got to work on his game. It stinks.

BTW. If this was a story about Romney or Perry, Cainbots would puking on themselves in giddy glee. Guaranteed.

Damn right! Anybody that voted for Bill Clinton is NOT to be trusted.

Is that a fact? I hadn't heard about that.

Oh good grief, look at the Clintonian antics in the Oval Office and at the gay play by Barack Obama, and they want to lynch “Uncle Tom” for, at worst, saying something fresh? (If it was even that bad.) It sounds like the way the infamous downriver masters would behave towards their slaves.
