(By Google Translation from French to English so diction off a bit:)--("Oups... Je ne me souviens plus": l'incroyable gaffe de Rick Perry")
"At the last night debate between the Republican candidates, the Governor of Texas was a great moment of solitude. Which virtually eliminates him from the nomination contest.
We already knew: the debates are not the strong suit of Rick Perry. These early performances have also cost him his status as favorite in the Republican nomination. But Wednesday night, the governor of Texas has hit the rock bottom. It was a great moment of solitude during a debate organized by the CNBC financial news channel. A embarrassing minute feeds into every conversation. And will hit tomorrow in all the American press.
What happened? Asked about his solutions to reduce government spending, Rick Perry announced that he wants to close three departments. "The Department of Education, Commerce," he lists before a pause. "What is the third already?" He was askede. After long seconds during which he tried to escape. But nothing worked. He did remember. And concluded with an "Oops" that certainly puts an end to all his hopes of the White House. Fifteen minutes later, the escaped word comes back to him, "In fact it was the Department of Energy." But too late ...
"It was an embarrassing moment," admitted Rick Perry, after the debate ended in front of many cameras. "Fortunately I was wearing my boots tonight because I stepped in it, he said. But I still insist two departments we need to delete. Obama has never mentioned unseul". But when a reporter asked if his campaign can survive this blunder, his communications director intervened and puts an end to the (short) question and answer session.
With this incredible episode, Herman Cain is the case take a back seat to the topic of the today, at least. The question on sexual harassment charges against the businessman had been asked by Baritorimo Maria, the star presenter and moderator of the debate and CNBC. This has triggered jeers of 1,400 spectators present at Oakland University.
"The American people deserve better than to see individuals as in the public square on the basis of unfounded accusations, said Herman Cain. I attach more importance to moncomportement and my integrity as the rest. For each person spreading false accusations, there are probably thousands who will say that these actions do not fit me. " Then, sustained applause in the hall ... but the case may still continue in the coming days.
All this ultimately benefits Mitt Romney, considered the most likely opponent Barack Obama for the presidency in November 2012. The former governor of Massachusetts is always above the lot during the debate, even if it has not been particularly impressive on Wednesday night. He has also been challenged by Jon Huntsman over his willingness to attack China in the WTO (World Trade Organization), accusing it of manipulating its currency.
After Michele Bachman, Rick Perry and Herman Cain, his next rival might be called Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House of Representatives. His speech Wednesday night appears to have been received by Republican voters, which should boost its recent breakthrough in the polls.
But all those seeking information on the economic agenda of Republican candidates will be ironed. No response to the many questions on the crisis in Italy, no solution to the housing crisis and the problem of student loans. Few concrete on the health system reform to replace Obama as all candidates want to repeal it. Next time ... Maybe.
I hate that I'm so cynical. But the average American couldn't care less about what Perry did in Texas, and most also blame the current economy on Bush.
Perry's performance during the infamous 53 seconds destroyed any hope his campaign had.
That's the reality. The sooner Perry realizes this the better. He needs to drop out, as his supporters will only help Romney get the nomination at this point.
” My choice is Newt. I know his flaws, and I know theyll get listed again and again, but right now hes my choice. “
He may be your choice , but there is no way in hell Newt could beat Obama . Personally speaking , I don’t trust him . But let’s say Newt gets the nod . A fat old white man who has been around for decades and is carrying tons of baggage vs. a younger , dynamic black man named Barack Obama . Considering the state of mind of the electorate in general , who wins ? Let’s get real .
Oh, please. Enough of Perry. He’s had his moment in the sun. Can even claim to have made a US presidential run. If he had any class he would withdraw from the national scene and return to Texas.
It's not just one such incident, it's a whole string of them.
I was willing to give Perry a chance. But if Perry can't handle GOP debates, how is he going to handle going up against Obama? I think Perry would be OK as president, but you have to get there first. I agree debating skill is not a prerequisite to govern, but it is a vital skill for winning the election, and especially as the GOP nominee goes into the hostile arena of the general election.
Newt will shred Obama in the debates.
Newt is adequately conservative (for me to accept him as my candidate) and adequately experienced (for the electorate to accept him as presidential) and...
Newt will shred Obama in the debates.
And more than that, Newt will shred the MEDIA in the the ONGOING DEBATE in America which is:
The Media, the DNC and the Left
vs.
Conservatives and Average Americans
That’s an ongoing debate and the media, the DNC and the left currently get to debate their side unopposed 99.9% of the time.
Newt is the ONLY candidate I see who will step up and make a change in the rules of THAT debate.
That’s why I’m supporting Newt.
I understand and respect your disagreement with all this. I’m just saying what I think.
And I’ll tell you, it feels good to support a candidate who I don’t feel defensive about. I know what people are going to say about Newt in advance and I’ve already thought it through myself and it makes me ok with the critics.
I know there are critics. I’m ok with that.
He's a politician. He will slither his way into a cabinet position in a Romney administration. Can anybody say Secretary of the Interior?!?
Romney wins if the unelectable Perry splits off a good chunk of the conservative vote. So he'll stumble along, the money will dry up, staffers will jump ship, but he'll "fight the good fight" and ensure his supporters give Romney the nomination in exchange for the Interior post.
I was willing to give Perry a chance. But if Perry can't handle GOP debates, how is he going to handle going up against Obama? I think Perry would be OK as president, but you have to get there first. I agree debating skill is not a prerequisite to govern, but it is a vital skill for winning the election, and especially as the GOP nominee goes into the hostile arena of the general election.I think I've been saying pretty much the same thing for weeks now.
Are you plagiarizing me? Don't make me have to call Gloria AllWhore on you!
I will direct this to you, because I know you are a Perry fan. I am truly sorry about what happened to Perry last night at the debate. I would not wish that upon any of the candidates. That kind of thing happens to all of us and I do hope people put it into perspective.
I like Perry and some of the nasty comments about him on this forum are sick trolls. We are all on the same side when the primaries are over.
THE FOLLOWING IS A NOTE TO AXELROD, DUmmies, PAID blog operatives from Media Matters communists:
Obama will lose, there is no divide and conquer theory that will re elect your revolting Obama.Even if you and David Gregory get Cain's name off the ballot (Obama's number one famous trick which is how he got started in politics; that MSM never reported on)WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN! We still got back up in Newt or hell even Perry gaffed is better than the POS Obama.Romney is just a brillo cream commercial.LETS MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR:No matter what OBAMA WILL LOSE.
Romney wins if the unelectable Perry splits off a good chunk of the conservative vote.I don't think Perry is going to be splitting off much of anything after last night.
You know what I think last night was? I think it was Perry's sub-conscious rising up and saying "You can take this job and shove it!"
I don't think Perry ever wanted to do this. I think he was talked into for the best of reasons, as a Christian, as a conservative, as a patriot, but I don't think in his heart of hearts he wants to have to deal with all this sh!t, and that's what happened last night. His inner Perry rebelled.
lol thanks needed the laugh
U R Welcome
:)
And I really wouldn't care if they chose to remain in the dark about their candidate, except many of these same partisans are the same posters on FR who are bashing Cain with this liberal sexual harassment hatchet job. I guess since Perry can't climb up to Cain's level, they must think that they are accomplishing something by trying to rectify that gap by joining liberals in trying to drag Cain down to the level Perry has reached due to his own failings. It's pathetic if you ask me, but unfortunately all-too-typical.
Was it that big a deal when Obama said he'd been to "all 57 states" and had a few more to go?
I'm not a Rick Perry fan. I liked him at first, cheered him when he said Ben Bernanke would be "treated pretty rough" down in Texas and frankly I do like alot of what he has to say. But he's not my preferred candidate.
Having said what we have here is the lamestream media once again showing its bias in favor of one political party (Democrats) and against the other political party (Republicans.)
They're doing all they can to promote Romney and run everyone else off. Currently they're working on Herman Cain and Rick Perry. They've already destroyed Michelle Bachman (well, she mostly did that herself.) Once Gingrich's star starts to rise as it is now, they'll start on him.
Huntsman and Paul aren't serious contenders, they don't have to worry about them.
One last thing: As I said, I'm not a Perry fan. I like the guy, but he's not my candidate. Honestly I cringed for the guy last night when this happened. I probably lose my train of thought 5 times a day if not more. I call "bullsh*t!" on what the lamestream media is trying to do to Perry for this one incident. The media should be ashamed of itself for doing Obama's bidding.
Our country is going to hell in a handbasket, and the media is too stupid to figure out they're nothing more than Obama's useful idiots.
What's happening here is just pathetic.
Good post, agreed accept the media knows exactly what they are doing.
Or how many states there are.
The only problem is that you have to have fair treatment by the media. The state run media would never report anything negative about 0 bummer.
I like the guy, but he is not at all impressive as a communicator and that’s pretty much a requirement for the job.
So why is it (and stories just like it) all over FR?
I forget things all the time. I thought he recovered nicely on the rest of the questions he answered last night.
