You know, I've been staying in a lot of hotels lately, been doing a little traveling, and hotels are like a lot of other businesses, they just run scared of any regulatory agency. Nobody stands up to regulatory agency, and you can understand it. So you walk in and you turn on the lamp and you know that it's a compact fluorescent. You know because it's inferior light. You know because it's small and tiny. You know because it isn't going to be sufficient. The Democrat led federal government is taking us backwards. The enemy of the Democrat Party is progress. In three weeks and one day, illegal to buy an incandescent light bulb. And you know what that means, when the 100-watt incandescent light bulbs are outlawed only criminals will have them. That means me. I will be a criminal. (interruption) Well, you can have them but you can't sell them, but they're still gonna be gunning for you. At some point it's gonna be illegal to have them. But if you can't sell them -- (interruption) well, if I use one in proximity to a turtle? Yeah, then it could be jail time.

You can also go to www.alibaba.com and find 100 watt bulb suppliers from places like Red China, India and even Poland IIRC.
I was an electrician years ago, and porch light bulbs even then didn't last as long where people let the door slam. We'd put rough service bulbs (thicker filament) in, and that would usually cure the problem. Or, just don't let the door slam. Same goes for any fixtures in the house that ate bulbs. Ran across a few bulb eating fixtures that were on the same circuit with a fridge or freezer with a motor that was about to go.
You can still buy a 125 watt and 250 watt heat lamp in red or white. The 125 would probably work well for the pump house application. I have a 125 white clamped to my headboard and use it for reading and warmth when I read in bed where the room is 60 degrees.

I put them in a bag with the cat sh*t. If anyone wants to dig through it and see if there is any contraband in there, more power to them.
Well count me in as well. The last round of 100’s I bought did not last but a few weeks. Very unusual as they normally have last over a year in the same fixtures.
I think it is the result that they know their at the end of the line for the bulbs, so quality is no longer a high priority issue.
hmmmm....would be a cute idea if it had been 0bama who had signed this mess into law, but it was George Bush and the bulbs should be sent to him in Texas.
I’ve noticed that you can’t use a CFL in a dust to dawn device. Only incandescent bulbs work. I tried both and every time the CFL didn’t come on when the sensor was covered up to trigger it. When using incandescent bulbs, the sensor worked every time. This, to me, is a big problem not only because CFLs don’t work in my dust to dawn receptacle but the size of the CFL (that puts out the same light intensity as the incandescent) is too tall to fit into the lamp that is attached to the house. Even if I chose to just use a CFL in my outside lamp, I would have to buy and install and larger lamp so it would fit. To make it go off and on when it gets light or dark, I would have to also buy a timer device for it. The government sure knows how to screw up every thing it touches.

Good for Perry. I bet lots of people will be either crossing the border to but them in Texas or calling a toll free number to mail order them. Texas should open a huge vacant warehouse or build a factory that mass produces incandescent bulbs. Think of the number of new employees that would bring to Texas as well as income. Not to mention “in you face Obama stance”. Love it.!!!!!!!
We have a similar made in Michigan law languishing in Lansing. The problem is that you have to get other states to agree to violate the federal law to ship materials intended to make the bulb. I think its primarily tungsten that we can’t produce here.
Also there’s the problem that the state would almost have to subsidize a factory that only produced for Michigan.
Personally I want multiple states to get together and openly violate the law.
If it’s cold enough that your heatpump is running and you have need of light, using incandescents in the home is a net energy saver. 100% of the power put into the incandescent is being utilized whereas that portion of the power going to heat, if sent to a heat pump, will be reduced by some (fairly large) percentage due to pumping and ductwork losses.
You forgot they took away our toilets too........
Some people, including myself, use incandescent bulbs to keep water pipes from freezing in storage sheds, etc that are not attached to the main house. Try to do that with a CFL.

First, your state should buy as many incandescent bulbs they can in the next 3 weeks. Then stock them in a warehouse. Ship them to stores for them to sell during the ban.
Second, they can get around the feds by selling them to people who come to your state from other states. They can also sell them via mail order.
