Vanity: Thursday, Bloody Thursday, The Day the Drudge Report Sold Out

Thursday, Bloody Thursday the Day the Drudge Report Sold Out

It may be the Drudge Report sold out a long time ago and I was just too blind to see it. No one has ever accused me of being the smartest guy in the room.

But if someone of the unwashed masses like myself has come to see that he has sold out, it must be quite clear to everyone.

On this day he is maliciously and brutally battering a Republican candidate for the presidency of the United States by the name of Newton Leroy Gingrich.

I have read the Drudge Report daily ever since he broke the Lewinsky story.

I have NEVER seen him attack anyone with the volume of coverage and with the venom that he has attacked this Gingrich fellow.

He has given President Obama a lot of coverage. That coverage was quite negative, but often it was rather humorous and he seemed to be tweaking him more than attacking him.

Make no mistake, he is not tweaking this Gingrich fellow, it is a constant and brutal battering.

They say the most brutal crimes are often acts of domestic violence.

This fellow Matt Drudge has always been a rather mysterious fellow even before dropping off the airwaves of the Fox News Channel and syndicated radio.

I have seen in those rare times that he has been interviewed that he has associated himself both with conservatism and quite curiously populism. I say quite curiously because today he has revealed himself to be anything but a populist.

He has fully revealed that on this quite bloody Thursday, that he is at heart an elitist who is more than willing to do the bidding of the so-called conservative elite who controls the Republican Party.

It is a quite sad day really. The MSM can be characterized as a media elite because it treats its audience as sheeple. That is what makes an elite, an elite, the elevation of those within the elite above the group at large.

The Drudge Report was not only a founding but leading member of what has been termed the New Media and a member to which most of us looked to as a most welcome alternative to the elitism of old media such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, broadcast news and cable news.

But on this Thursday, this quite bloody Thursday the Drudge Report has sold out by treating its readers as sheeple at what most surely must have been at the behest of the likes of Anne Coulter and all the other conservative media celebrities who so ruthlessly and desperately are attempting to prop up their hand selected sock puppet Mitt Romney by attempting to tear down as well as tear apart Newt Gingrich.

On this Thursday, this quite bloody Thursday, I can only say, et tu Matt.

This is as good a time as any to remind folks that there are ways to block the ads that the Sludge Report serves up in great quantities. Sludge survives on the ad revenue that comes through his site, and he multiplies that revenue by having his site refresh itself on a periodic basis (every few minutes). Every refresh delivers a new ad to your screen, and puts more money in his pocket.

Firefox ad ons like Adblock Plus, and tracking blocker Ghostery are recommended, as is the classic method of filling your hosts file with ad server and other dangerous and unfriendly domain names.

There are probably other worthwhile resources, but I haven't seen an ad on Sludge in years.

Since when does the posting of news equate to "attacking"?. What exactly did Drudge say that would lead you to such an apoplexy?

Since when are the written words of Bob Dole news? If Bob Dole had the mental and physical faculities at this stage of his long life to give a live interview and say in person to an on looking world what he wrote in his letter, that might be news. But I doubt if Bob Dole WROTE was attributed to him, signed it maybe. Just because somebody puts words in the mouth of true and decorated American hero like Bob Dole does not make them news. Leave the guy in peace, let him live out the rest of years in peace. Do not try to resurrect him and exploit him by publishing a letter in his name to prop a sock puppet like Romney.

Yep. Drudge and Freerepublic were the only sites I trusted for news online. Sadly, I sent an email to drudge today saying ‘goodbye’. I don’t understand how anyone could say Rush has turned as well. No way. Mark Levin and Rush are my favorite radio hosts and true conservatives.

Newt did not do as well on Monday because he was taken by surprise by how strongly Romney went on the attack. Newt will be more prepared tonight

He had better be. Nolo contendere + go-to-my-website is NOT effective.

I remember that I sold it ebay and got more than half of what I paid for it

I sold mine for $200...exactly what I had to pay for a Dish Network/Microsoft WebTV/satellite combo. I was even able to transfer the WebTV Plus account into the new box. (an earlier competitor to Tivo in that it had a whopping 8 gig hard drive and allowed me to record 6 hours of TV.....the same as a VHS tape at the slowest speed!)

Actually....the coolest box I have ever owned (and a massive consumer failure, of course).

Once graphics and video started to get heavy and the l-o-n-g threads on FR could no longer be loaded (The famous "Deep In The Hurtgen Forest" threads and aftermaths), I finally broke down and bought a real desktop PC.

I apologize if I was unclear in my statement. So I’ll try again, what exactly was it that DRUDGE SAID that set you off?

Is this Drudge’s homosexual lifestyle finally coming to the fore? I’m serious. I have always enjoyed his site and take on current events. But it is beyond despicable that he has launched all these one-sided slanderous attacks against Newt. There has to be something going on to make a supposed conservative like Matt hate Newt so much.

Newt’s Contract With America was genius. I do not dislike the guy, but his public and private lives are spotted. Santorum is the most conservative man left on the field, and he doesn’t have the negatives.

Romney is no hand-picked puppet. He is what he is, but I don’t see the big love by “the establishment” for Romney - the exception being the endorsement by McCain. That’s almost enough for me to discount him entirely.

I'm curious, I just clicked on the link you provided and what was the topic of the article just above the one you're wetting your pants over?....LOL!

Good grief...........

And before you get your panties in a wad and suffer a cerebral aneurism, let me remind you that DRUDGE is merely a conduit of news articles, just as FreeRepublic.com is.......

what exactly was it that DRUDGE SAID that set you off?

Are you trying to make you trying to an intellectual debating point with a silly semantic argument?

Matt Drudge be like a Sphinx dude,I never him speak, since his radio show went off the air.

Reading be a skill dude. I know he does not speak on his website. I NEVER wrote that Drudge SAID anything.

I did say that Drudge attacked Newt but attacks are not limited to the spoken or written words of the attacker.

The Drudge Report does not give voice to the words of Matt Drudge but it gives a voice to what is on the mind of Matt Drudge by who and what he chooses to link to.

Drudge has gone on the attack by letting what is on the mind of others do the attacking for him.

The most powerful person on any newspaper is not the person who speaks or writes the words called the reporters, it is the editor who decides which words will be placed on the front page.

The Drudge Report is the biggest front page on the internet and that makes Matt the most powerful editor on the internet and his power does not come from his words but the choices he makes about the words of others and if he chooses to use them on his front page.

Exactly. I’m not crazy about Newt either but he will definitely get my vote. Drudge has been the lone voice out there always highlighting obama’s negatives. The party is obviously split between moderates and conservatives. It’s wrong to trash drudge and other republicans because they don’t agree with us on everything and every candidate.

Hey Homie, there are times in one's life when they should keep their mouths shut lest they offer confirmation to their readers that they truly are stupid......

No problemo, dude. If I had any readers, as you seem to think I do, I am sure they cannot hear a word coming out of my mouth, because unlike yourself I have not only mastered the skill of silent reading with my mouth closed, I have also mastered the skill of typing with mouth closed as well.

At your service, my kind Mr. Tabasco.

In updating the site, he reportedly monitors multiple television news channels and a number of websites on several computers in his home office. By early 2009, Drudge earned millions of dollars a year, travelled extensively (Israel, Las Vegas, Geneva), had moved to another property in Miami and become reclusive, communicating regularly only with a select group that included Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Andrew Breitbart.[29]^ Sherman, Gabriel. "Underground Man". www.tnr.com. http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.html?id=33037aaf-848f-4b79-8a75-34d6c793457e&p=2. Retrieved 2009-04-22. "One source relays that, these days, the only media figures he talks to regularly are a select group that includes Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Andrew Breitbart ....Drudge now lives at another property in Miami."
