I’m not voting for Romney, but I think that conservatives can disagree on this in good faith.

Is it not possible that this has opened the door for Newt? Must we assume that it's all over and Mitt will now waltz in as the chosen one? To me, this is what resistance is all about. Fight for Newt until the last vote is counted and he is officially out (or he drops out).

Once that happens, I will not vote for Barack Hussein Obama in the general, and I will vote. The destroyer of nations must not be allowed for another term.

Back in 1997 I found Free Republic and was amazed to see a website free of doctored news and promoted free speech in the protection of our embattled Constitution. I signed on in December 5, 1997.

Thanks to you, FR was the first with real news, not propaganda. I thank you for your dedication.

I have a gut feeling that we will be in a civil war within the next few years. When it comes to progressive Marxist advancements due to political correctness, we have been dealt a near mortal blow by the left and now words will not prevent further enslavement of free people, only action will.

It’s a given that the GOP can’t be fixed for the “fixers” are in control of it. We must try a peaceful means to take back our heritage and freedoms by the tools given us (voting) but that does not seem to be working any longer because we have gone the way of the Roman Empire with bread and circuses being the only thing the people want.

Hang in there, I (and we) are fully behind you.

I don’t like Romney; I disagree with a lot of what he has done, but he’s not Obama. I still am a Sarah Palin fan. I pray that she returns somehow and rids us of this debate.

You write that if we disagree with you we can find a new home on the Internet. That’s good for your ego. You can spout off as you wish, because its your forum. But I cannot find a new country. That’s the bigger issue; it is bigger than you. We have a defined choice: Obama or the Republican nominee.

We have a true marxist as president; one who is destroying the economy, our international character and the liberties we have. Obama is wildly pro abortion and you’re picking fights with other patriots who want to remove Obama at any cost! You are ignoring the real enemy; you know, the one whose preacher said “God Damn America.” If you are not fighting Obama with alll your soul, what does that make you?

It makes you one of Obama’s most powerful tools.

Choosing the greater evil is not the path I’ll take.

It's just time! We have to fight this incessant GOP/RNC rino infested party. If we keep voting for rinos because they are the lessor of two evils we will always be doing it encouraging more rinos!

Thanks for making this forum available to all of us and remaining steadfast in conservative values.

Jim are an outstanding American!

Don’t sugarcoat it, Jim, tell us how you really feel.

Honestly, I’m not putting a dime into my home until after November. I am 3 steps away from becoming ex-pat. I cannot watch this country go down the tubes to these idiots. My life has been a eroding case of shambles the last 4 years...like I’m screaming about the freight train to the friends and family standing on the tracks...yet they are content to watch like deer in the headlights. It is costing me in terms of health both physically and emotionally. Yet, I can’t give up. Not without a fight.

To: Jim Robinson; All

Preach on brother!

Free Republic is the home of the Revolution to end “establishment Republican rule.” Conservatives of many stripes have been consistently ignored by the “insiders” that wanted our vote, but never our opinion or values. This has ended. IF the GOP wants to have any possibility of salvaging our support....the need to shut up and start listening....plus follow through and do what we tell them to do. We ARE the BASE. Loose your base, and the party folds. A good start would be for the GOP to have an open convention and pick another candidate than Romney. Someone at least somewhat acceptable to all sides. However, that candidate needs to be picked by the base, not party insiders or country club republicans.

Thank you for saying it. I think most of us here know it is better to keep up the fight than to surrender to the GOP-e. They need to learn that only a conservative candidate can win and maybe then they will stop forcing these “moderate” candidates on us.

I’ll be voting third party this november.

Jim,

I agree wholeheartedly with your premise. WE have been screwed over long enough by the RINOs.

However, I find that I cannot not vote for president. It seems to me that the majority of the country simply has to be against Obama. I like the vote solid Republican down-ticket of your plan. I've always done that anyway.

It seems that it would send a message to both the RINOS and the enemies of America that if Obama does return to the White House, that at least he do it with a minority of the popular vote.

So I guess my question to you is what 3rd party or candidate would you recommend? I'm trying to make up my mind, and your opinion would be welcome.

It is a certainty that either Barack Obama or his Republican challenger (presumably, Mitt Romney) will take the oath of office next January--for four years.

I am not at all certain that this republic can withstand another four years of Barack Obama--especially since he will not be running for a third term in office, and will therefore be entirely uninhibited in his desire to move America considerably to the left.

In the end, therefore, I would much prefer to vote for the better of two imperfect candidates (and Barack Obama is so vastly imperfect as to be utterly objectionable, in my opinion), rather than to fly the flag of Philosophical Purity, while going down gloriously, in flames.

The so-called "Buckley Rule" (named after the late William F. Buckley Jr.) seems appropriate here: One would be well advised to vote for the rightmost candidate sho has a reasonable chance of winning...

I have no problem not voting or doing a write-in and letting the GOP go down in flames with RINO Romney. But I am worried that that the race-baiting, social-justice-freebies Marxist will get to probably appoint two more Supreme Court Justices. Then we are all hosed forever... I’m still not sure what the hell to do. I want the GOP to burn to the ground due to their treatment of Sarah Palin. We need a game plan... we’re rudderless.

Mr. Robinson,

I have followed the “discussion” on this thread for the last two days. I have seen the vituperation thrown about freely and with abandon by many of your followers against those posters who have the temerity to voice a non- Politburo opinion about what to do in the next election. Yeah, I said Politburo. For a bunch of so-called Conservatives, you do Stalin proud. Conform or exile? Not much of a choice, but with this thread, you made it easy.

First , you, Mr. Robinson, issue a pronunciamento, early on that no one using your site [even if they pay for the privilege] could post any articles favorable to Romney. I thought that a bit odd, for a site where ideas are to be exchanged, but I filed it away, and went about my business.

Then you started calling your Jihad, and things became much clearer. I’ve seen at least one of your minions refer to people who have viewpoints differing from his [and I’m one] “cowards”. As a combat veteran of Viet Nam [and of a stretch on the DMZ in Korea] I resent that aspersion. I’ve seen a great deal of yelling, but not a lot of rationality. And if the price of trying to save the Republic requires me to abandon you and your acoloytes, so be it. If I wanted to a Lemming, I’d move to the sub-Artic.

So, please accept my resignation from Free Republic. I leave with mixed emotions. Joy and Ecstacy.

Damn right Jim.

You can expect the paid staffers and supporters of Romney now be coming on here and saying” I wasn’t really for him but obama is worse and we have to unite”

Must be so easy to pretend a guy is a republican let alone a conservative but then again it seems many from where he is from have a different view to what being a republican is all about.
For instance down here I’ve met many from the north east who will support Romney, have no problem with the homosexual / cross dressing agenda because in their ignorant words” they know some and they are nice”

Once they move down here those who had thought have themselves as a republican found out that they are looked as as Dems down here.
Just because they care about their own pockets does not make them a republican let alone a conservative.
