Rubio’s Take on DREAM ‘by Fiat’
National Review ^

Posted on 06/18/2012 10:01:52 AM PDT by Windy City Conservative

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida tells National Review Online that President Obama’s executive order on immigration is part of a “growing consensus” in American politics about the children of illegal immigrants, but he is troubled by the president’s lawmaking “by fiat.”

“There is a growing sentiment in America about these kids,” Rubio says. “If you were four years old when your parents brought you here illegally, and you have grown up here your whole life and don’t even speak Spanish, and you are your high school’s valedictorian, you have a lot to contribute to our future. It kind of feels weird to deport you.”

Rubio acknowledges that his position on illegal immigration will not please every member of his party. But he believes that he can still be an opponent of illegal immigration while working to help the children of illegal immigrants to avoid deportation. Immigration is “not a black and white issue,” he says. “It’s a complicated issue. Complicated issues require careful solutions. On one hand, we want to help these kids, but we also do not want to do anything to encourage illegal immigration.”

If you can manage to actually suppress turnout, yeah, the little barry bastard commie will finish off the Republic.

What Rubio said is probably factual, too many Americans are tugged by the heartstrings to welcome an invasion of illegals propped up by their children. But in not taking the hardline position, folks like you use the issue as a wedge to suppress turnout and foster hatred of Milt Rominy.

What Rubio mouthed is probably factual, but it doesn't make him a candidate for the veep position because he is no better than the current oval orifice occupant, lacking in experience for the job at hand.

BTW, don't you agree with Rube that it is not the authority of the pres_ _ent to grant amnesty by fiat, end around fraud through the Just Us department run by the thug HOlder?

Dunno ‘bout that, but he sure is handing ammo to the “There is not a dime’s worth of difference...” beliefs that some of us hold...

We should expect now a million or more valedictorians roaming around without risk of deportation. What a plus for American society [/sarc].

Someone needs to point out that kids ALWAYS suffer from the bad decisions of their parents.

Most criminals’ kids don’t have anything when Dad/Mom get taken away to jail. When an embezzler is caught, all of sudden all the assets are gone and the rest of the family moves from the Hamptons to a tenement in the Bronx.

Life isn’t fair. It isn’t my job to make life fair. My life wasn’t fair. It is my job to deal with the cards I was dealt as best as I can (which I have doe and quite well). My gratitude is in supporting charities that I think do the most good for the most people and in being a good citizen.

Don’t put the unfairness of the world as a yoke on the American people. Breaking the law should never be rewarded.

And Rubio is off my Christmas Card (and future support) list.

Barack Obama is really smart.

He’s managed to take an unconstitutional move, and by doing so turn conservatives against the republican candidates.

He’s caused a split on our side by doing something illegal, making it easier for him to win.

We really are the stupid party. Or at least, some of us are.

And I don’t mean Rubio.

Notice he uses the straw dog ‘deport’ as all who promote amnesty do.

The relevant issues are :

1) Work visas (as Obama is giving them) with high unemployment
2) Entitlement to government handouts as with legal immigrants.
3) Path to citizenship and a vote as in Rubio's plan.

If Rubio addressed his position on those I might take him seriously; but those are not 'feel good' topics.

Here we go again, NEVER be honest about how corrupt our candidates are. Just let them screw our nation into the dirt, so the Democrats won’t get the credit.

Just damn! Will we never learn?

If Romney wants Conservative support, he damn well better change his spots.

I will never vote for a McCain or a Romney. As far as I am concerned the Republican party is dead to me. We can try to enhance the Conservative position in the House and the Senate, but the White House is lost to Conservatives this year no matter what.

You need to accept reality.

You are wrong you Cuban Marxist.

Go back to your parents’ homeland and go work for the Castro bothers.

By the way, I read here on FR a few weeks ago or less he has made political exaggerations/lies about his personal life to make himself look like something special.

Sorry, I did not save the post. Maybe somebody did and would like to share it again.

OK, OK, Senator Rubio, I get it.

Let's make a deal.

Every illegal mestizo who is both a high school valedictorian (legitimately appointed) AND who can, by oral examination, convince a panel appointed from the faculty of CalTech and MIT that they "have a lot to contribute to our future" can stay, as long as you support deportation within three months for all the others.

Deal?

And you spittle that I need to accept reality? ... You have posed the refutation to your own assertions! If there is nothing to be done about the choice of Rominy or little bastard commie, then why not vote for the removal of the commie while voting for as many real conservatives as you can find on your ballot? I mean, this holier than thou approach is a suicide pact, or a lust to use all the prepper stuff you’ve stored up.

You can definitely say that again. Some of our folks would rather see Obama win than vote for Romney--they are the most clueless folks in the world if they truly believe there is no difference between Obama and Romney or if they believe that a second Obama term wouldn't be catastrophic.

Romney has never been my choice, but compared to Obama, he is Ronald Reagan on steroids.

No surprise that “Anchor Baby” Rubio talks like a Democrat on this. “Growing consensus”? What the hell is that? A minority opinion that you hope will be the majority someday maybe, but that’s not the same as a law.

“3) Path to citizenship and a vote as in Rubio’s plan.”

Rubio’s plan would *not* provide a path to citizenship (nor a vote, of course), which is why Obama and the Democrats are doing everything possible to keep Rubio’s bill from getting to the floor, including the preemptive strike of issuing an unconstitutional executive order that leaves open the possibility of a path to citizenship.

"You need to accept reality."

Looks like you are the one who needs to accept "reality." Reality is Romney IS going to be the Republican candidate and he would be, in every way, better for America than a second term Obama would be.

Those who throw temper tantrums, such as yours, are generally those who are farthest from reality.
