A new Quinnipiac University poll shows why Barack Obama has been so reluctant to talk about his health care plan this summer.
55% of voters say ObamaCare is a tax, while only 36% say it's not. That's a nearly 20% gap and a huge political liability.
Some of the specs:
a. Voters think Congress should repeal the law, 49%-43%.

Independents think ObamaCare is a tax by a huge 59%-22% margin. Interestingly, Hispanics think its a tax by 60%/29%, which is an even higher margin than among whites. Now heres the money stat: 27% of indies say itll make them less likely to vote for Obama, while only 9% say it will make them more likely. Major huge poll losses for Obama from this.
well the gods in the supreme court...deemed it a tax.
and as only congress can levy a tax...then congress can remove said tax.
Obama could have been screwed. But Mr. RomneyCARE
cannot attack ObamaCARE because he cannot, as its author.
On constitutional grounds, the sc ruling was a disaster. Politically speaking however, the ruling really screwed the Hussien and the jackasses. It is something that is recinating with the public and what the Romney campaign AND the PAC’s will religiously remind voters this fall.
now we know why Obama aint talking about this whatsoever.
It always was a tax. Obviously BO was lying, no news-flash there.
The Supreme Court said it.
I believe it.
It’s a tax.
The biggest tax in the history of the western world.
If stuff like this continued, Obama may have to resort to a tactic John Kerry used in 2004 — running on someone else’s record, not his own.
John Kerry had so little accomplishments during his Senate career that he claimed several senatorial accomplishes of Bob KerrEy as being his own accomplishments.
Obama, now that the SC has labeled Obamacare as a tax, is running from that. We have video/audio/text records of Obama claiming since 2009, that he would not raise taxes ‘one dime’, etc.
Obama cannot run on his economics/jobs records. He continues to claim he created 4.4 million jobs in 28 months. But on closer exam, that equates to an average of about 58,000 new jobs per WEEK, while new unemployment claims are running at 380,000 per WEEK. For each job Obama apparently created, 9 others lost their jobs. Note that the recent June job creation for the MONTH was only 80,000.
There is one nuanced difference between Obamacare and the Romneycare legislation - the Romneycare STOPPED at the state boundary. Obamacare seeps into every pore of the entire nation, Main Street to Wall Street, Gulf to the Great Lakes, coast to coast, border to border, from islands east of the mainland to far-flung sites accessible only through travel over international routes.
And since it STOPPED at the borders of one state, that state retains the power to modify, repeal, rescind, or exalt the application of the statutes as they now stand. It may well be that Massachuetts could end up rejecting the current law, and rewriting it totally and completely (though, being Massachuetts, that is highly unlikely). The same holds true for the current application of the seriously misnamed “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”, which attains neither of its stated goals to lower costs, or provide much protection for its victims, er, recipients.
He can, and he must.
Like it or not, Mr. Romney now holds the role as "leader of the opposition" to the Obama regime.
He should not shy away from his responsibility, regardless of how hypocritical it may seem.
We all wish that Romney didn't have that political "baggage" to begin with, but nonetheless, he has been selected to represent our positions and values against Obama and his political machine, so he must step up to the plate and fight for our side.
Conservatives must insist that Romney, as the presumptive nominee, supports and upholds our values, regardless of how difficult it may be for him personally.
He did yesterday in front of the NAACP. Unfortunately, some cannot see the truth through their own prejudices..
Don’t forget...John Kerry served in Viet Nam too.
DEATH PANELS are death panels.
Same for socialized medicine.
First, Mr. Romney is only the PRESUMED candidate
and he has demanded delegates BOW to him and RomneyCARE.
Second, Mr. RomneyCARE, author of death panels himself,
is not equipped to defend this important conservative issue.
“55% of voters say ObamaCare is a tax, while only 36% say it’s not.”
They are both correct. It can’t be a tax for the half that won’t be paying the tax.
Ya know, we really need to hammer this home to people in any way we can.Not just the mandate tax but how Obama LIED. All well and good to talk to other FReepers but we need to get this out to other folks who might still be caught in the Hope and Change BS. I’m a big fan of letters to the editor, getting on internet newspaper sites and making “comments” on articles, talking about it really loudly in supermarket lines... whatever we can. do. This is a winning issue. Not just the mandate tax but the other $500 billion in taxes imbedded in this bill. And the CBO revised the cost to $2.6 trillion (not $900 billion).

its does matter what people thinks when they go to vote, supreme court may call it a tax but if voters dont think it is, its null and void and thankfully it seems most voters think its a big ole tax.
Romney may be the standard bearer for your values, but he doesn’t even give a passing nod to mine.
