*** Condi for VP?
Dont bet on it: Well, we learned last night that the Drudge Report -- with its close ties to the Romney campaign -- still has the power to change the subject, at least for several hours. Its provocative headline: Romney narrows VP choices; Condi emerges as front-runner.
But if you believe that Rice (who has never held elective office, who is closely tied to George W. Bushs unpopular foreign-policy decisions, and who supports abortion rights) is going to be Romneys VP pick, we have some oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you.
In fact, this tweet from prominent conservative Erick Erickson should settle things for everyone: Multiple assurances from Team Romney tonight that Condi is not happening for Veep.
Meanwhile, a fundraising pitch from Romney Campaign Manager Matt Rhoades seemed to suggest that Romneys VP choice isnt happening soon. Sometime between now and the Republican convention, Mitt will be announcing his choice for VP, Rhoades writes.

Team etch-a-sketch polling on pro-abort Rice as we freep!!!
Romney is a risk-averse guy, and bringing on Rice, with her connections to the Bush Administration, is fraught with risk .. with very little reward. Ain't gonna happen. It's a smokescreen... fairly well-played, actually.
I have the greatest of admiration for Dr. Rice, even knowing what some of her political positions are, and I admit that I looked forward to her taking on Hillary Clinton in 2008, but, in retrospect, she’s not a politician, and she’s not the one that Romney needs to shore up his right wing.
Gov Susana Martinez is the better choice.
Brings in many Hispanic voters.
Helps with women voters.
She is conservative.
She is popular as governor with very good approval ratings.
She gives the ticket good geographical, philosophical & gender balance.

Maybe Romney should pick Al Sharpton, Jessee Sr, J. Wright, or Howdy Dowdy. The Lamestream media will crucify him.
If he picks Condi, he is done. Obama etal are hoping.
That's as simple as it gets.
I suspect Mitt needs an entirely new professional staff ~ but no one of any talent is going to work for this guy after he gets rid of these people.
Condi voted for Brock Obama in 08
I hope not. I like her less than I like Willard.
And it would give him a shot at New Mexico’s electoral votes.
Rubio remains his best choice, but I can see him thinking he could trade hispanic votes if he got a higher percentage of female votes.
The problem with Maritinez, of course, is that she’s a first term governor.
Rubio gives him Florida and more Hispanics.
His problem now is that Obama is at 247 EV’s according to Rasmussen, and that means just 23 more and he’s at the magic 270. Florida and just about any two of the remaining states would be doomsday for Romney.
He’s on a tightrope electorally right now. He needs to peel some of those leaning states away from Obama to change the scenario: Michigan or PA need to go back into play.
Is this a political tactic design to pull in disaffected Obama supporters and otherwise independent Democrats?
It was a publicity stunt...by Drudge and probably by Romney too. Keep everyone interested and talking about you. And WAY more people are interested in the “beauty contest” aspects (who will he choose, who can we talk about) than about the policy issues.

Martinez has said repeatedly she will not accept a VP slot.
I believe she strongly means this as she is one of the only living family members of her sister who is handicapped (I forget just what) and in Las Cruces, NM. Gov. Martinez has said she couldn’t move her sister from where she is nor could she leave her behind to move to DC.
I tend to believe her as she’s one of the more honest politicians I’ve seen here in NM.
..."First there was Condoleeza Rice, a classic RINO. Her tenure was marred by the fact that she brought to the White House some of most misguided anticonservative liberals - both Republican and Democrat. She and the president failed to understand the strategic principle of government that picking the wrong people results in the wrong policies." ...
Actually the two might be better matched than most people think.
Mitt is at best a sorry mush on abortion. So’s she.
