Justice Dept. Gallup lawsuit came after Axelrod criticized pollsters
Daily Caller ^ | September 6, 2012 | Matthew Boyle

Internal emails between senior officials at The Gallup Organization, obtained by The Daily Caller, show senior Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod attempting to subtly intimidate the respected polling firm when its numbers were unfavorable to the president.

After Gallup declined to change its polling methodology, Obama’s Department of Justice hit it with an unrelated lawsuit that appears damning on its face.

TheDC is withholding the identities of the Gallup officials to protect them from potential retaliation from Obama’s campaign and his administration.

In April, Axelrod tweeted that a poll showing Mitt Romney with a 48-43 percent lead over Obama was “saddled with some methodological problems,” directing his Twitter followers to read a National Journal story criticizing Gallup polls showing a Romney lead.

In that National Journal piece, Ron Brownstein wrote that the polls showing Romney leading the president had “a sample that looks much more like the electorate in 2010 than the voting population that is likely to turn out in 2012.”

Internally, Gallup officials discussed via email how to respond Axelrod’s accusations. One suggested that it “seems like a pretty good time for a blog response,” and named a potential writer.

In response to that suggestion, another senior Gallup official wrote — in an email chain titled “Axelrod vs. Gallup” — that the White House “has asked” a senior Gallup staffer “to come over and explain our methodology too.”

The REAL polls cannot be allowed to get out until after another round of fundraising and another attempt to fill the Swiss bank accounts.

If Obama wins we will be seeing a lot more of this. Anybody not on board with him will be subject to attacks by the state.

So, in effect, the Obama Administration is extorting the pollsters to do their due Democrat diligence and ‘push’ the polls.....

Nothing to see here. Just the typical Leninesque and Stalinesque purges of political enemies.

Axelrod and company have an excellent understanding of the psychology they need to motivate their followers. To motivate the Liberal movement, they must create a sense that their win will be easy. If they imply they are behind, things will be difficult, and they may have to actually fight their way to victory, then the Libs will abandon Obama and he is even more toasted than he is now.

That is why he cares so much about what Gallup says, and feels they have to show Obama on top. Still, it’s mindblowing what despots all these pie in the sky jackasses become once they get a little bit of power.

All in the (Political) Family - Obama's Marxist Mentor and Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod ......"Obama sits in that Oval Office today thanks to four factors: the American voter, a scandalously biased media, a skillful election strategy charted by David Axelrod, and the careful nurturing of Valerie Jarrett.

And most remarkable, Axelrod's and Jarrett's backgrounds and mentors connect to Obama's background and mentor in a most intriguing way. It's a stunning story, hard to believe. Follow closely:".......

To me it shows the stupidity of democrats. Make the poll SOUND like obama is winning. When they KNOW he’s not.

Or it could be with the polls showing a huge lead it won’t be neccessary to count the vote. Hell, it won’t even be neccessary to to hold the election.

Likewise down south:

“..... Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez insisted on Wednesday that it is impossible for him to lose the Oct.7 election, saying that he enjoys a 15- to 20-point lead that his rival will not be able to overcome in the few weeks left before the vote.

Chávez, who hopes to be reelected for a new term after 14 years in power, also renewed his warning that the presidential candidate of the opposition, former governor of the state of Miranda, Henrique Capriles, plans to claim fraud on Election Day. He added that everyone in Venezuela already knows what the results will be.

“[Capriles] will no longer be able to surmount [the lead], even if he gets on a missile, or two, or 10. […] It is impossible for them to win the election.

“It is absolutely impossible, mathematically impossible,” the president said in a news conference.

“There is a consolidated gap no lower than 15 points,” he added.

Venezuelans will go to the polls for a presidential election that many consider crucial for the future of the country, amid promises by Chávez that he will use a new six-year mandate to finish building the foundation of his socialist revolution.

The president’s comments were made at a moment when some private polls show the two candidates in a very close race.

Capriles has said that it is he who has the lead, quoting numbers gathered by his campaign team.

“We have said it. We started an even race and now the numbers are starting to grow,” Capriles said in a recent news conference.”......

If polls consistently show Obama with a lead, it makes it easier for Al and Jessie to start the riots when he loses.

It’s cover. Pure and simple.

Update - The Daily Caller: “Weeks later, Justice Department still hasn’t served Gallup with lawsuit”

.......................”The senior Gallup official speculated that Holder’s DOJ may be aware that serving the complaint before November’s election would appear politically charged, particularly in light of internal Gallup emails which show senior officials concerned about intimidation attempts by Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod.

“They have 120 days to serve a complaint on us — so they might just hold off on service until the election passes,” the senior Gallup official said. “That way they prevent us from officially responding to their allegations, which might be damaging to the campaign.”

Gallup can’t ask a judge to dismiss the case until DOJ serves the company.

Holder spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler did not respond when asked by TheDC why the Justice Department has not yet served the complaint to Gallup.”
