Help Romney Beat Obama Without Donating Money
September 19, 2012 | Ziva

Posted on 09/19/2012 12:44:11 PM PDT by Ziva

No matter where you live in the USA, without donating money, you can make a difference in this election by going to http://www.mittromney.com/call-home-landing.

I live in New York, a hopelessly blue state. There is very little I can do locally to help Romney. However, they have an excellent phone-from-home system this year, much better than other phone banks I've done before. It uses a combination of a regular phone for making the calls and a website where you enter the responses online. They select the phone calls for you, so they have me calling New Hampshire rather than New York.

Your phone number never appears to your caller because the phone bank company calls YOU at home and then connects all calls. They make an in-state caller ID appear on each call. I actually use my Skype phone number on my cell phone (costs me no cell phone minutes) because I have a great headset for my cell phone.

I started making phone calls from home for Romney. It is easy, well-supported, and free. A very brief script appears on your PC, and you answer the few questions with dropdown boxes. It is important to start now so they can target the right people for the campaign. You can get started at http://www.mittromney.com/call-home-landing.

They will direct your calls to the states where they need the most help, so don't worry about calling out-of-state. There are no long-distance charges because the system calls you first to enable you to make the calls to others.

I sat on my hands last election and didn't work because I didn't like McCain. (Of course, I voted.) Even though Romney was not my first choice, we know now that another Obama win would be disasterous. Please pass this on to all your political friends. The calls made now help identify voters who can be moved to vote for Romney.

My goal is to make at least 10,000 calls. That comes out to about 200 calls a day which can be done in less than three hours. They really make it quick and easy. I do not want to be partly responsible for Obama getting reelected.

No one should feel that if he or she can make just 100 calls, it is not worth the effort. EVERY effort helps and WILL make a difference. If you can call only one hour a week, then you WILL have done your part.

I do want to remind you of the the reality of phone-banking. Depending on the time of day, half the calls may be to answering machines. It is just the price of doing business this way, and not a failure at all. It is noted, and we move on. I actually read and post election information on websites and FaceBook while I wait for a phone to be answered.

Some people have told me they are not comfortable discussing politics. Phone bank workers do not engage in discussions about the candidates or the issues. All you have to do is read the short script on your screen.

Some people will be hostile or rude, may hang up brusquely, or try to engage you in time-wasting arguments. Do not be discouraged by these calls. They do not bother me a bit. I just move on. We are looking for all Romney voters AND undecideds who can be moved by the campaign. The phone calls also help build the volunteer team for the state we are calling.

If you are worried about rejection or the very rare rudeness, I suggest this is a great experience for you to get used to it. Remember, if the caller is rude or rejecting, IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU. It is a reflection of their own problems and concerns.

There is a place for notes for each call. If the person is a Romney voter, I ask if they need help getting to the poll or need an absentee ballot and put that information in the note field. If an undecided voter tells me what campaign issue is important to him, I note that as well. You do not have to do it, but any information you can glean from a potential voter can be worth noting.

Your important work will identify for the campaign all undecided voters that can be influenced with campaign materials, and all Romney voters for a get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort at the end of the campaign.

Many of us are suffering in this bad economy and can donate little money to this campaign. If you do have the money to donate, please do. However, my point is that we all can donate some time to help, and it is as good as money to a campaign.

If you are in red or purple state, then I hope you get involved with the local Romney campaign. You can still use spare time at home to make phone calls.

If you are in a blue state, then please join me in doing what you can from home with phone calls.

Next, please pass this on to your friends everywhere. Let's create an army of workers bigger than the unions do for the Democrats. And please let me know personally If this helped you get started working on the campaign, please let me know personally at RomneyVolunteers2012@gmail.com.

What guides me is a saying from Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers): "It is not your job to complete the task, but neither can you desist from it."

I appreciate your lack of enthusiasm for Romney. Romney was not my first or second or third choice in the primaries. I felt the same way about McCain last time. The result was Obama.

I have a question for you. Do you think things will get better or worse in a second term of Obama, when he no longer cares about being re-elected? We already heard him tell the Putin that he would have more "flexibility" after the election. You know that Obama has done a lot of damage by ruling by executive orders, and he will do even more damage in a second term. No one seems to be able to stop him.

I'll bet you agree much more with Romney on the economy, national security and foreign policy. I'll bet you agree with about 0% of Obama's actions.

The best IS the enemy of the good. While I despised McCain, Romney is not McCain. Our economy and energy resources are on the verge of disaster, and Obama will only make them worse. Romney will improve them.

I have fought RINOs (in my home state) for years. As Mark Levin says, the time to fight RINOs is in primaries. Afterwards, we do need to pull together even though it hurts.

Never has the need been greater to eliminate this scourge Obama that has infected our land. As Mark Levin says, "this country cannot endure four more years of Obama."

Your vote is certainly important, of course. I just will not be responsible for another Obama win this time due to complacency, a fit of pique, or accepting nothing but the perfect candidate to earn my toil.

There are many kinds of people. Plenty of people do not mind the calls, and they do help the campaign. If people don’t want to respond, I note that and they will not be called again.

So much for the Do Not Call list. The law exempts campaign calls.

I have a message on my landlne directing callers not to leave a message. But these automated calls leave a message anyway.

I’d get rid of the landline phone since I use my cell mostly, but the transmitter for monitoring my pacemaker only works with a landline.

who is left in America .... would even pick up for a strange number, or no number at all.

Elderly people. I have a horrible time not getting my dad to answer every time the phone rings ... he thinks if it rings, it should be answered. I usually keep a cordless phone with me and when I see 'unknown', 'unavailable', and pretty much any area code starting with an '8', I pickup & hangup on the first ring to cut it off. If it looks like something we might need to get, I tell him not to answer & let it ring over to the answering machine .... generally it's a hangup. Annoying isn't the word for it.

You and Alaska are under a mis-apprehesion. I want Marxists out of the Ametrican governmnet; I could give a flying F*CK about win or lose: THAT is what is wrong about politics.

Unfortunately, too many folks like y’all find that the ends justify the means which is EXACTLY what your words (”do you want Romney to win or not”) mean.

I’m working diligently for the downticket, the conservatives who maintain a stand. Romney is simply a slower set of steps to weenie Euro-socialism. I am confident that my activities will give conservatives the House and Senate. I’ll vote for Romney but I don’t think many conservatives are willing to pimp him to total strangers...we just aren’t that happy with Romney and his record of big government nany-statism.

Your psuedo-nobleism in “calling” me out as lazy is pitiful. That ain’t politics, that soft intimidation.

Peace out, brah.

What we do are NOT automated calls. We actually do NOT leave any phone message.

See my post 26. I’ll discuss Romney with my co-workers, family and friends and I’ll tell the truth. I won’t pimp him to total strangers over the phone. I feel no guilt over not being enthusiastic for Romney...he should be able to defend himself and his candidacy.

Lack of enthusiasm in the campaign does not translate to a vote for Obamugabe. Some folks need to get a grip.

Just pinging you to a philosophical discussion that you may be interested in.

To pimp or not to pimp...that is the question. Wether ‘tis nobler to prove your persoanl Republican worth or suffer the slings and arrows of political situational ethics.

What to do...what to do!

“Plenty of people do not mind the calls, and they do help the campaign”

Obama BS!

If what you stated is true, tell us all why so many TRIED to solve this problem by enrolling on the Do Not Call list!

Just because you want something to be true does not make it so.

In 2010 I got so annoyed by all the GOP calls (my TV has to be on to see the Caller ID, I finally called the local GOP headquarters and asked them, outside of physical violence, how do I stop my own party from harassing me?

I gave the name of every democrat I would vote for if I received one more of their calls. It worked and the calls stopped except for one judge who I called and threatened him with a charge of harassment then I voted for his opponent.

Don’t project your love of phone calls on to the rest of us.

The only ones I did not mind were on election day was someone calling to see if anyone needed a ride.

Besides you are just reinforcing the notion that politicians can exempt themselves from laws they pass for all the peons. We should NEVER allow them to do that

Umm... No, that's not what it means.

Politics is about compromise. It always has been; always will be. Sometimes the degree of compromise is distasteful, uncomfortable or downright ugly.

Given our options, Romney is clearly the best choice for president. At this stage in the race, that's ALL that matters. Period.

All the whining about true conservatives and RINOs is for the primaries, which are over, in case you missed it.

I am firmly in the "Do whatever I can to get the most conservative candidate to win."

On the other hand, if Obama is reelected, will it matter one whit whether Romney is a RINO???

"Obama BS"
Yeah, that is why the Romney campaign wants it. But you know better, I see.

Wurlitzer, don't project your hatred of phone calls on to the rest of us. It works for some, not for others. It is probably a cost-effective way of identifying some voters.

I can only imagine the cost of going door-to-door to find the voters, but I'm sure it is also being done. Will you travel to a swing state to go door-to-door?

Every campaign needs to take multiple approaches to reaching voters. It is nothing personal, Wurlitzer. Just say you don't take these calls. You do not need to discourage other people from doing something constructive to end the Obama regime.

“Wurlitzer, don’t project your hatred of phone calls on to the rest of us”

My hatred and MILLIONS of Americans who have the same opinion of essentially political telemarketers, PROVEN by them taking the time to enroll on the Do Not Call list both at the federal level and here in NYS.

Seems you are on the wrong side of the fence on this one.

By employing these annoying telemarketing techniques you are joining a group of people detested by most Americans who, again, voted by enrolling in Do Not Call.

We pay for our phone lines both land and cell and for you and other telemarketers to assume we have nothing better to do than get our dinner interrupted or stop what we are doing to answer some phone intruder into our home is nothing more than politicians proving once again they are more important than the citizens.

Notice they had to carve out an exception for themselves and I think if you did a little investigation you will find that the Founders did not want politicians excluding themselves from the law they force on the rest of us.

In closing DO NOT CALL, it is RUDE and those who do it are RUDE.

I’ve signed up for this and was ready to go, but man does that script seem stilted. Do you read the provided script as it is, or do you use it as a guide? I’m supposed to know who it is I’m speaking to without it giving me a certain way to ask, in the script. I also don’t see questions on the issues. How do you do it?
