Posted on 10/13/2012 11:06:57 AM PDT by nanetteclaret
This thread is to consolidate all information on the Benghazi fiasco.
Starting with the Live Thread on Congressional Hearings, 10 October 2012:
Col. Hunt on the Newest Libyan Revelations (huge coverup!)
see Post #14:
For six hours the entire military, intelligence, diplomatic and civil command structure of the United States government watched, in real time, as our consulate in Benghazi was under attack, while our ambassador and his hobbled security died.
That command structure did nothing. Afterward, they lied outright to cover-up their own culpability for political reasons. An intelligence failure, under the circumstances, was impossible.
And most democRat voters don't care, and will vote for the anti-American, lying traitors.
Why this race is close still amazes me. People voting for free stuff instead of freedom.
Benghazi Worse than Watergate
For over forty years now, the Watergate scandal the June 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters and the subsequent cover-up by the Nixon administration has been the sine qua non of American political malfeasance. It has been followed by myriad other gates affecting both parties but has never been superseded.
Benghazi or Benghazigate, as some call it, is worse. Far worse. Incomparably worse....
(Pat Caddell & Kirsten Powers agree)
Great thread from last night with a lot of links and theories:
Great title: “Let the Leaks Begin.”
Hearings- A few tidbits that may connect the dots:
-Withdrawl of security and support right before attack
-Funding/Money for security was not an issue
-SAMs are a part of the story
-The blind sheik is part of the story
-”Intellegence Community” and “State Department” are different entities
-Patrick Kennedy reports to HRC and appeared evasive
-Lamb was forced under oath to say that decisions about security at the site were made above her level, a job she normally handled.
Another exceptional thread with a lot of links from other sources. This one ties a lot of things together.
Libyan president: ‘No doubt’ attack ‘preplanned’
Thread with many more links.
Benghazi Timeline - Fox News Special Report with Bret Baier, October 10, 2012.
I think this is of key importance as the WH keeps saying they didn't know of these threats and need for increased security. This came out 1 day prior to the attacks and then fell by the wayside.

Likewise, National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor fired back the following response to Politico via email:
The President is among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet, National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor wrote in an e-mail. He receives and reads his [Presidential Daily Brief] every day, and most days when hes at the White House receives a briefing in person. When necessary he probes the arguments, requests more information or seeks alternate analysis. Sometimes thats via a written assessment and other times its in person.
Carney made a direct comparison between Obamas administration and the one Thiessen worked for. I believe if you compare our foreign policy record with the one
that proceeded this one, were comfortable with that comparison, he said at the White Houses daily press briefing. This president is very much steeped in the details of national security issues. Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0912/80992.html#ixzz29CtOaWIr
Great idea bookmark.
I did not know this:
“... Susan Rice married Ian Cameron on September 12, 1992 in Washington, DC; the two met while at Stanford. Cameron is executive producer of ABC News’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” The couple have two young children....”
(Putting it here for the record)

Lies From Libya - TheBlaze
I just listened to the Howie Carr interview with Col. Hunt. If we had a responsible press winning reelection would not even be an issue for the Obama-ites. They would just be trying to figure out how to stay out of jail.
Reuters Tue, 9 Oct, 2012, Excerpt:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. security officer twice asked his State Department superiors for more security agents for the American mission in Benghazi months before an attack that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans, but he got no response.
The officer, Eric Nordstrom, who was based in Tripoli until about two months before the September attack, said a State Department official, Charlene Lamb, wanted to keep the number of U.S. security personnel in Benghazi “artificially low,” according to a memo summarizing his comments to a congressional committee that was obtained by Reuters.
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told a conference in Florida on Tuesday that there was no advanced warning about the Libya attack.
He scoffed at media portrayals of him as “hapless and hopeless” for acknowledging on September 28 a shift in the intelligence assessment of the Benghazi assault, calling it a deliberate terrorist attack instead of an event stemming from spontaneous protest, as initially thought.
Clapper suggested it was unrealistic for anyone to expect the U.S. intelligence community to have a “a God’s eye, God’s ear certitude” right after an attack like the one in Libya.
Henry I. Miller, a physician, and the Robert Wesson Fellow in Scientific Philosophy and Public Policy at Stanford Universitys Hoover Institution,ASKS:
Dont voters have a right to know whether Biden is ill or merely unlikeable, impulsive and prone to deceitfulness?
Rohrbacher laid to rest any suggestion that the inadequate security had to do with budget/financing constraints.
Washington Examiner on 10/12/12, Excerpt:
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland ended a series of questions about the Obama Administrations changing narrative about the terrorist attack in Benghazi by saying that shes paid to be dumber than other government officials.
Look, Im generally dumber than most of the rest of the government, Nuland told reporters yesterday. I mean, thats what Im paid to be.
The comment drew a laugh, but Nuland was serious about not taking any more questions on the topic. Were not going to parse this any further, she said sternly. Were just not.
(You can watch video of Nulands briefing above. To see these remarks, made towards the end of that dialogue, start at the 21:45 mark.)
Here is another link to GITMO attorneys.
Thanks for the ping...still trying to catch up. :)
“The State Department has released a transcript of a briefing that two high-ranking department officials gave to a number of reporters via conference call on October 9 (Tuesday)
In their desperation to avoid responsibility for the Benghazi debacle, Obama and Biden have pointed fingers in two directions: at the intelligence community for reporting incorrectly that the incident was a protest over a YouTube video clip, and at the State Department for not providing adequate security for the Ambassador.”
Link to transcript in thread.
“The Obama State Department testified this week that the rational that they were not on the ground for 17 days in Benghazi was because they could not get Visas.”
“Just Who DID Answer the 3 AM call?”
Libya is 6 hours ahead. The attack began about 9:30 PM Libyan time which would have been 3:30 PM EST.
Post 54: Schedule for Clinton and Obama on 9-11-12:
“12:00 p.m. Secretary Clinton meets with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, at the White House.”
“Later in the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with Secretary of Defense Panetta in the Oval Office.”
“Obama was informed about the developments in Libya by his National Security Adviser Tom Donilon as the president began a weekly meeting Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey. The White House said Obama was kept apprised throughout the evening and then again Wednesday morning.”
Background Briefing on Libya by U.S. State Department (long and detailed)
Awwesome! Are these in chronological order - most recent at the top?
They are. Also, I noticed an APoD topic got in there, probably my fault. Sorry. I deleted it in the combo version. There may be more debris in the list, I wasn’t fussy.
Thanks for your efforts on this, SC. I was just about to ping AlamoGirl to the task, since she did such a bang-up job during the ‘Toon’s years, and other times.
I added the keyword ambassadorStephens. I have been using Benghazigate, but I appreciate the views of some folks that we ought to simply call it “Benghazi” ... and allow “-ghazi” to be used as suffix for the Bamster’s scandals...
I just realized, after reading some more articles, and reading thoughts that the cover-up is likely intimately connected with weaponry that Zero and administration gave terrorists who were part of the “arab spring” foolishness.
>>> This is the MOTHER Of ALL “Gun-Walking”
assuming that is the true situation.
VERY good point!
I added the “impeachnow” keyword, but also “libya” and “benghazi”. A number of the topics had one or both of two and three. Automatic keyword fishing would be nice around here. :’)
Obama on Benghazi: Believe Me or Your Lying Eyes (or at Least Wait Until After the Election)
“Since September 12, the Obama administration has been asking us to believe him, his press secretary, and his proxies that our Libyan ambassador and three other consulate officials were killed by a spontaneous mob driven into frenzy by an anti-Muslim film produced by an unknown Christian film maker. He asks that we not believe his state department or top intelligence officials who testify that this narrative is false. Nor should we notice the coincidence of the attack taking place on 9/11 or that this was revenge for the fifteen top al Qaeda leaders killed by drones under Obama. Of course, Obama spiking the I-killed-Osama football at the Democrat convention had nothing to do with this either. Nor did the Libyan President warn of impending violence three days earlier.”
Issa: State Dept. Sitting on $2 billion-plus for Embassy Security (Budget cut by R myth busted)
“Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) says the State Department is sitting on $2.2 billion that should be spent on upgrading security at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, but the Obama administration will not spend the funds.
Issa made his comment during an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” to discuss the recent attack in Benghazi, Libya, that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead. Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, held a highly partisan hearing on the incident last week.
Issa claims the State Department will not spend the already approved funds because they didn’t want to the appearance of needing increased security.”
Clinton: “I take responsibility” for Security Ahead of Benghazi Attack
Excerpt from CNN:
“’I take responsibility’ for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN’s Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, were the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions, Clinton said.
‘I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha,’ she added, noting that it is close to the election.”
