Having spent a good bit of time nursing a GLD (ground Laser Designator) in several garden spots around the world, something from the report jumped out at me.
One of the former SEALs was actively painting the target. That means that Specter WAS ON STATION! Probably an AC130U. A ground laser designator is not a briefing pointer laser. You do not “paint” a target until the weapons system/designator is synched; which means that the AC130 was on station.
Only two places could have called off the attack at that point; the WH situation command (based on POTUS direction) or AFRICOM commander based on information directly from the target area.
If the AC130 never left Sigonella (as Penetta says) that means that the Predator that was filming the whole thing was armed.
If that SEAL was actively “painting” a target; something was on station to engage! And the decision to stand down goes directly to POTUS!
This is HUGE. It should be obvious by now that someone is not telling the truth.

Watergate was a stupid endeavor that should not have happened. Nixon didn’t even know about when it took place.
Nixon covered up for his subordinates, which was a mistake, and it led to his downfall. the press was all over it. if Nixon would have not had tried to cover it up, he would have got off.
Where are the “press” today? with few exceptions, they are aiding and abetting the coverup. Fox and some others, excluded, of course.
Sen. Goldwater (whom I loved) “the Statesman” told the president that the jig was up and he could either resign or be impeached. He placed his love of the country above His party.
Nixon could no longer be trusted. of course the clintoon did even worse.
find me a statesman that is a ‘rat? should i write a letter to sen. turban durbin (I call him dirtbag dick durbin, but turbin durbin seems to be what those on FR prefer) and expect an answer? is he a statesman? think not

In short, both Suits and this former member of the CIF said that everything we're hearing is a lie. The "fog of war" excuse is a lie, and so is the claim that it would've been too risky to send in any troops.
Panetta also said he conferred with General Ham, but two weeks after the attack Ham said in an interview nobody asked him whether or not to send in troops.
And now the AP is reporting that there were 150 attackers in technicals with antiaircraft machine guns.
That means Obama, Panetta, Hillary, Biden, and Dempsey all watched this massive assault unfold in real time, did nothing about it except send eight doomed security contractors from Tripoli, and then lied about it ever since.

Regardless 'target painted' or not, we KNOW Panetta lied. And who else?
I ok ya used four astericks to highlight the word, “probably”, a word indicating honesty about what was known or unknown. In WHICH paragraph in the original can you cite use of that word...?

To summarize them both; these CIF teams and other assets don't sit on the ground waiting for a 'go' order. They get in the air or water and make as much time towards the target as possible while the bigwigs decide what to do.
Only the POTUS had the authority to say 'yay' or 'nay' on a rescue!

When one or more sides are lying, different partially-consistent hypotheses become in play. According to the Delta person, if someone was painting a target, that means a weapon was on scene and ready to fire at said painted target. But no attack happened, therefore, an order to stand down had to have been issued, and it could only have come from a high place.

Careful here, this isn’t a slam dunk. You can paint a target for a LATER strike. This is key, but not the key.
I should point out that the term "consulate" is a misnomer - THIS WAS NOT A CONSULATE.
I read an article that said this: A consulate has a "consul": a permanent diplomat dealing with visas and there for citizens of the represented country.
Benghazi was not such a place. It was a "mission". This article explained that the govt people had not used teh term "consulate" but had let the press get away with it.
So, what was the purpose of the "mission" ? I think the gun-running angle has already been mentioned.
We should alert this thread to as many ping list (you think would be interested) as possible.

The Obama ad with Morgan Freeman narrating was just on and something in that ad just made me very angry. It says:
“... four years later, our enemies have been brought to justice. Our heroes are coming home...”
Obviously, the recent events in Benghazi show that enemies have not been brought to justice and our current Administration believes in leaving our heroes behind and ignore repeated requests for help.
I can’t believe that OUR COUNTRY would EVER do something like this. Please tell me this is just a dream...a nightmare that will end soon. Because part of my nightmare is telling me that an election is about to be stolen and current coward in chief is going to have another 4 years.

are people shocked that 0bama wouldn’t harm Muslims or that he deliberately caused, thru inaction, the deaths of American citizens and military personnel?
we’ve been saying he’s an anti-American commie for 4 years. what did they think we meant?
What would be the use of painting a target, unless there was an asset in the sky capable of observing and acting upon the paint?
And how much later? Later enough to ask, "Mr. President, we've locked onto some bad Mooselimbs lobbing mortar shells at our SEALs. Ok if we waste 'em?" I would think the position of a mortar crew would be very perishable information.
FWIW the term 'diplomatic mission' has been around for a long time and is used to refer to any outpost of the State Dept. or the diplomatic corps themselves.

I think Obama is toast. Liberals I know are in a very defeated state of mind, their fear is palpable. I think it has been Romney’s race since his stellar performance in the first debate, where America learned Romney was not the caricature the Obama campaign had portrayed him as. Even Obama has been flailing about since then, grasping for an issue. Cheating has always happened, it can push a point or two, but I’m starting to sense a Romney by 8 or 10 scenario. Cheating can’t over come that. It’s ground game time now, and even the weather is not cooperating with the liberals. They can’t go to the Eastern States they need, like Virginia, and don’t know if the Blue States in New England will even have electricity on election day. They are definitely panicked.
I too see how it looks as if Romney is moving toward victory. I just worry about rampant cheating going on that could steal enough votes in any one of the states that could give a lump of electoral votes to the coward in chief.
I’m from WA state where the Dems in one county of our state have stolen enough votes to turn statewide elections before.
