A woman was blocked from early voting near Austin, Texas, last week after wearing a T-shirt that said "Vote the Bible."
A pro-family group called Texas Values said election workers told resisdent Kay Hill at the Taylor City Hall polling place in Williamson County her shirt was quote "offensive."
She was told to turn the shirt inside out, go home and change, or cover up the words "Vote the Bible."
Hill tried to disagree but was eventually forced to cover up her Bible message. Poll workers reportedly provided a jacket for her to wear over the shirt.
"It's outrageous that a person of faith would be mistreated this way while trying to vote," Jonathan Saenz, president of Texas Values, said. "If this isn't voter intimidation, I don't know what is."

“Those wouldnt be prohibited, since they are not attempting to influence anyones vote, therefore, not electioneering.”

I get your point but I doubt that The Bible was on the ballot.
What a world. :-)
.
My sister is a poll worker in Wisconsin and she told me you can wear t-shirts and buttons into the polling places, you just can’t campaign within 100 yards. She does work in a very conservative district.
I’m a conservative and a Christian, and here’s my take: “Offensive” wasn’t the word to use. “Illegal” is more like it. A shirt that says “vote” anything is a political message and should be left at home when voting. It has no business being worn at a polling place.

You captured my reaction exactly.
If her shirt said “Follow the Bible” I would take her side in this.
Well then what about VETO “0” Same letters just changed around
Something not related to a given election is simply not electioneering---
All the voting locations in Iowa have big signs loudly encouraging citizens to “VOTE HERE”. I don’t know anything about Here or Here’s platform, but Here gets away with campaigning ten feet from all the polls in Iowa every election. Here’s some sort of perennial candidate, like LaRouche.
The problem is, you don’t think those are trying to influence someone’s vote, but someone else would. So, it’s too subjective of a standard. I think that’s why the laws are so broad, to err on the safe side.
I’m actually surprised, after reading your post, that no Chicago politicians have tried changing their last name to “Here” just for the election. There are actually quite a few cases of Chicago judges changing their names to sound Irish, because they know people tend to have no idea who the judges are, and just vote for all the O’Briens and McConnellys out of ethnic loyalty.
Good one,Paldin2,good one.

I think that while I am in the voting booth with the curtain closed where I am guaranteed privacy. I will pray before I cast my vote. I always pray out loud. I will pray that God help me to make the right choice to protect unborn babies, To protect our soldiers who are in harms way, To return our nation to greatness, And to deliver us from all of the evil acts that we have seen carried out by the White House in the last four years.

If God hasn't already clued you in a long time ago as to whom to vote for (or against) next Tuesday, then you need to spend more time with the Lord!
Hear, Hear!
Good thing the UN is coming in to stop this outrageous activity.
Personally, as an election judge, I would not have said anything to the lady unless there was a complaint.
The purpose of voting day is to vote. I have to spend 12 to 14 hours working with liberals and refraining from any comments whatsoever about anything that can be construed as electioneering or offensive. I have to maintain a calm atmosphere so that people can concentrate on their voting. The least of my concerns is to police a woman wearing a "Vote the Bible" tee-shirt.
It would be nice if everyone could be discrete when they go to the polls. I have to worry about sneaky poll watchers and the Black Panthers showing up.
Thanks massmike.
