HAWKINS: Republican Party must remain for life, against abortion
Washington Times ^ | November 15, 2012 | Kristan Hawkins

Posted on 11/22/2012 8:33:27 AM PST by rhema

Not surprisingly, in the immediate aftermath of President Obama's win over Mitt Romney last week, many Republicans bared their fangs at the social-conservative wing of the party, either subtly or not so subtly, blaming the loss on those who vote our values. Now, more than ever, our party needs to hold onto our pro-life, pro-human-rights values. In fact, the Republican Party should become more fiercely aligned to the pro-life position than ever.

[ . . . ]

We believe ending legal abortion in our lifetime is possible, and we hold the great abolitionists of the past, such as William Wilberforce, an English politician who led the movement to abolish the slave trade in Great Britain, in high esteem and aim to mimic their fighting spirit in the midst of seemingly impossible adversity.

The Republican Party, my party and former employer, was badly beaten on Nov. 6. Leaders of the party need to do a whole lot of soul-searching. Maybe some need to step aside and let others step into the spotlight and be the new, strong voices of this generation. The leadership of the Republican Party got its nominees in 2008 and 2012. Unlike the Democratic Party's strategy, the "mainstream" Republican Party leaders and donors wanted a moderate candidate, someone "electable." They wanted someone who could straddle the fences and appeal to a majority of Americans. They actively opposed the candidates who were solidly pro-life and wore their values on their sleeves.

The GOP does not need any more moderate candidates. We don't want someone who sticks to the middle ground on social issues. Just ask one of the millions of Republicans who sat out this election because they could not stand behind a moderate candidate.

Where is the William Wilberforce of our day?

If the GOP wants conservatives to split off into a third party, this would be the way to do it.

And it would not work out well for them.

“The GOP does not need any more moderate candidates. “
Needs to be repeated, over and over.

There's no actual evidence that "millions" of such Republicans exist.

Someone willing to lose the war for losing a battle is not worth voting for.

Small government fiscal conservatism will never work without social conservatism. Millions upon millions of single mothers and other wealth redistributionists will ensure we never have small government, not when they can immorally plunder their neighbors. And, despite what some libertarians think, limited government can be a force for social good. Anarchy is just as bad as statism. So, yes, it’s good when government recognizes and supports such socially good things as marriage. I’m not advocating for a theocracy. That’s what some people irrationally fear from the right without realizing that we have a real theocracy (Gaia worshipping, secular humanism true believers) running the country right now!

Any Republican candidate who does not support the social issues will be defeated as many conservatives will reject that candidate.

Just ask Bush #1, Dole, McCain, Romney.

Meanwhile, the most pro-abortion president this country has ever seen currently sullies the White House and will quite likely during the next four years replace not only Ginsberg, but Scalia and Kennedy as well.

So, how's that litmus test working out?

Romney had more votes in Bible Belt states than Bush #2 did in 2004, and that’s with all the votes note yet counted, and including Texas, Bush’s home state.

The sorts of things you’d expect to see if there were millions of social conservatives rejecting RINOS simply don’t appear in the vote totals.

Yep! Social conservatives sure taught America a lesson. Let's reject the guy who's 75% conservative for the guy who's 0% conservative.

If Republicans want there to be a Republican party that can do something on this issue then they need to stop nominating crackpots like Akin, Mourdock and Freiss who go on TV and say stupid stuff to nuke their own cause. Hell they did more for abortion ‘rights’ than any Dems did.

Re-Electing Democrats like Obama and Reid (as Senate leader) does not save one unborn human’s life and it hardly lines up the weak kneed RINOs behind the cause.

American conservatives -

Godless elites, no matter how conservative they claim to be, will not, and can not, stand up for your interests.

They will compromise with evil, and there is clear evidence of this right before our eyes of this, and Scripture tells us what the reward is for this. Though this passage was spoken by the prophet Isaiah to ancient Israel, of course Scripture speaks to us as well today in ageless truth. In the following passage I have added emphasis on a few verses. Clearly, the American civil government purports to be "caring" for children by extending charity to the poor, but this is a lying and deceitful action, not of God, so it is sin. This is because on the other hand, the government doles out for the poor only in search of their votes, so robbers and thieves of the public treasury can remain in power. And as well, the people of the nation stand, raising our hands up and praying, while our government has sanctioned the murder of tens of millions of defenseless children in the womb - we reach up to God with bloody hands. We have the audacity to make our own "appointed feasts", that is, making our own holidays and proclaiming them to be worshipful of the Lord God Almighty; holidays that are not commanded by God in his Law Word. Here Scripture tells us that God's "south hateth" such appointed feasts. This is quite appropriate today, because Thanksgiving is one holiday that is Scriptural - because it is not declared to be any Holy Day, but simply a day of Thanksgiving to God. Since we do not claim that our Thanksgiving holiday is Scriptural, it is not a sinful innovation, but simply a day of giving thanks to God. Scripture tells us that God "will not hear" the prayers of a sinful people with bloody hands until they repent and turn to God.

Isaiah 1:

"1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the Lord hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

9 Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

10 Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth:
they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

24 Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.

29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

30 For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

31 And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them."

I think the elitists have driven the last stake into the heart of conservatives. Those who held their noses while voting for the elitists pick for a second time won’t be doing it again.

Well, if Jesus returns soon, your vision may come to pass.

If he doesn’t, then you need the votes of the “abortion for rape or incest” voters in order to accomplish anything.

Yeah, staying home and allowing barry to appoint even more trash judges really assisted that goal.

Next election, don’t forget to insist that rape victims be required to follow your lead.
