House Speaker John Boehner accused President Barack Obama on Tuesday of slow-walking negotiations to avoid the fiscal cliff, and urged him to name specific cuts in government spending he would support as part of any compromise.
Lets be honest. Were broke. The plan we offered is consistent with the presidents call for a balanced approach, said the Ohio Republican. Were still waiting for the White House to do the same.
Longer the White House slow walks this process, the closer we are to going over the fiscal cliff, Boehner said.
The White House and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi disputed the assertion within moments.
The irony of this is that the White House offer had very specific cuts, the GOP counteroffer had almost none, tweeted communications director Dan Pfeiffer.
In remarks on the House floor immediately after Boehner spoke, Pelosi also called on him and the Republican leadership to permit a vote on Obamas plan to extend expiring tax cuts for most Americans, while letting them lapse at upper incomes. She predicted it would have overwhelming support.

Lets be honest ... you’re a Boner
Lets be honest ... youre all idiots in Congress.
Boehner is actually part of the problem —he makes ritualized little objections, providing an illusion of a viable political opposition.
It’s Kabuki, and we need to be rid of non-Conservatives.
Nothing in the article spelled out the cuts Pelosi referred to. Does anyone have any links to any proposal that President Obama has made with regards to spending cuts?
First, remember that once money has been spent, it creates a baseline. The President has stated that his winding down of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will save close to $2 Trillion from the baseline defense spending. Links are easy to find.
I'm at least willing to see where this thing goes but I do not have good feelings about it because I see no clear solution.
THE problem is the RATS control the Senate and we have the Marxist/Muslim in the WH who hates American and does not want a solution--he wants to destroy America and he may have the power to do it.
Maybe we should give the US Senate and the WH the same treatment Democrats are giving Lansing, MI.
Ok Boner-Boy I’ll give ya some CUTS:
Entire Dept Of “Labor” GONE
Entire Dept of “Energy” GONE
Entire Dept of “Interior” GONE
Entire Dept of “Homeland Security” GONE
Entire “EPA” GONE
Entire Dept of Mis-Education” GONE
Entire “IRS” GONE
Entire “Federal Reserve” GONE
Break up the “Dept of “Defense””/Re-Constitute the Dept of WAR(Army and Air Force) AND Dept of the Navy(Navy and Marine Corps). DESTROY the Pentagon!
All of this SHOULD save a buck or 2.
He has to be lying.
I know for a fact, because I heard it from liberals I know,
that “the money’s out there”.
Too bad DC is somewhat insulated by the Christmas season. I'd be willing to go to DC. Someone needs to get the message.
I love the idea of all these. Can you imagine the bloodbath to Democrat coffers if we get rid of this many government workers. Remember Michigan.
They need to pass a republican plan in the house with a small tax increase and decreased spending ..call it a Rep compromise bill and send it to the Senate ..let the Dems in the Senate kill it and let them hold the blame for the cliff..
Nancy likes to make up things! :)
Did you ever notice that?
Pass the Ryan budget again and send it onto the Senate. Let Harriet Reid get her panties in a wad for a change. Then, resign as speakah and go home for Xmas, boner. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.
Oh and REDUCE the number of Flag and General Officers by 2/3rds/ Eliminate the E-8 and E-9 paygrades
idiots? yes but not as much as they are corrupt thieves. Every damn one of them in DC should lose all their perks and pay until the US budget is balanced.
He is such a fool. They’re biding their time until it’s Christmas so he’ll cave again.
Add about 35 of those Czars and MamaObama’s 45 assistants.
Let’s be honest — most congresscritters don’t care for this country but are only interested in getting re-elected.
