Speaker Pelosi 2014 (Vanity)
Self

Posted on 12/20/2012 5:22:16 PM PST by indianrightwinger

By defeating the Speaker tonight, the GOP delegation in the House gave him the blank check to cut lousy deals with the lousiest President of all times that will pass with Democratic votes. Mark this day. It leads to Democratic control of the House in 2014 at worst or significantly reduced (bare) majority for the GOP.

This is the most suicidal political outcome I have ever seen. Good luck!

OK, so how about telling us what your solution is.

Sniping from the peanut gallery does not add anything to solving the problem.

Let me explain to the “conservatives” what was supposed to happen. And, that is to extend THE MOST of the Bush tax cuts as possible in this damn political climate. All else is BS.

Well, let's see what happens.

I asked elsewhere, what would compell House Republicans to want to sign up for two more years of this thug behavior of threatening committee seats after seeing this behavior played out, when they have a way out at their disposal?

My reason is that we need a Speaker who can restore the legislative process. I've said for two years that Boehner shouldn't be taking on Obama directly. All he's doing is making Obama look presidential and Boehner look small and weak.

The Speaker should be taking on the do-nothing Senate and Harry Reid. We know why Reid hasn't moved any legislation forward - it's because anything he does will instantly be labeled the Democrat position. They feel it's better to just keep whacking away at the Republican position because the MSM will never call them on not having a Democrat position to debate.

The Speaker should force Reid to have to work with Obama. Make the MSM talk about that, instead.

Simple. Protect 99.8% of tax payers from expiring Bush tax cuts. Period.

Do you recall Bush’s “Read my lips, no new taxes”?

And do you recall what happened to him?

How much better off will you be with all of those Tea Party conservatives replaced by dims?

When people of character shake your hand and tell you that it is a deal, there is no more discussion about whether or how it is to be a deal. It is a done deal.

Whether it is a good strategic move to change the deal is not even a matter for discussion. It is a deal.

What you and boner suggest is that all of those conservative house members should take the attitude of the GA senator who says that its a promise made years ago and it is OK to go back on it.

Not for those who have ethics. Its called character.

There are no more Patrick Henrys.

Only Henriettas.

Boehner may not keep his Speakership if this continues
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
As screwed up as the R’s are, they will try to oust “BO’s favorite Boner” and Pelosi will end up as Speaker.

Which in itself may not be bad BUT the D’s will quickly hop on the issue that nothing can be done because of the ‘do nothing R’s, who couldn’t even take advantage of their majority status’.

That may ‘wake up’ the R’s, but I actually think ‘we’ are lucky that ‘we’ kept the House, the way everything else went.

D’s probably thought the lead was uncatchable this time and didn’t waste any time or effort to regain it....

House to Recess for Christmas with the Bush tax cuts for the RICH, oops, I mean Bush tax cuts for everyone to expire.

I think, let the rats own it. Let them own the increased taxes on everyone. The rats have lied for years about the current tax structure. Saying repeatedly that the Bush tax cuts were only for the “rich”.

If boner had any balls, he would remind obumbler that he has a long 4 years ahead of him. There will be budgets, deficit ceilings, lots of appropriations bills that involve stuff that the voters care nothing about, like the EPA, Commerce, State, etc., that the ordinary voter cares nothing about one way or the other and that if this tax thing continues as it is headed now, the next 4 years is going to be very unpleasant for the president.

The way I see it, from here on in the republicans need to stand for smaller government and more economic liberty and no more compromise. None.

We're screwed anyways if things continue in this vein.

I'd rather see the GOP go down swinging.

They will have to make sure that it's done in a way that doesn't split the ticket and let Pelosi have the most votes.

I think there are quorum rules for this vote, where a vote for present is not a vote for Pelosi. I read some threads about it last week. It sounds more like a caucus vote - you keep voting until someone crosses a threshold or someone drops out.

If Boehner gets what is essentially a "no confidence" vote, would he continue to run and twist arms stronger, or would he drop out and let someone else be Speaker?

House did good in rejecting the bill. Boehner’s fault for putting it out without any support. Tea Party is mad at Boehner.

“By defeating the Speaker tonight, the GOP delegation in the House gave him the blank check to cut lousy deals”

This makes no sense. Defeating Plan B means Boehner cannot pass a plan and is thus powerless. It’s the cliff baby...

We see it, many see it, why can't *Boner* see it?
Time for the corrupt, probably blackmailed, bastard to go.
He has done conservatives no good.

From what they have recently shown etc, I don’t believe they have enough sense to pull it off.

Naturally, I hope I am wrong but I don’t have much confidence in them. Especially since Boner tried his scorched earth policy so he must feel he has enough votes to keep his seat, otherwise he wouldn’t have purged the Conservatives....
