Writer Dwight R. Worley not shown as gun permit holder on Journal News internet map

Did some digging. From Dwight R. Worley's own piece at the Journal News website and Angry White Dude - Journal News reporter Dwight R. Worley owns a Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum and has had a residence permit in New York City for that weapon since February 2011.

I went to the Journal News map. There is no red dot on his address showing that he is a permit holder.

To be fair, they may not have updated all of the info on that website yet. BUT, there are red dots shown in his area.

Now, you would think that the Journal News would want EVERYONE to be safe and sound and would put themselves front and center as an example. Mr. Worley seems to have been given a pass.

It may important to watch who they decide to leave off that map as well as who they put on it.

Worley is not on the map because he obviously doesn't have a concealed weapons permit.......

That is incorrect.

To create the map, The Journal News submitted Freedom of Information requests for the names and addresses of all pistol permit holders in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam. By state law, the information is public record.

To clarify, in New York, you need a permit to OWN a pistol, not just to carry one. There are several levels of permit, with the hardest to get being the carry permit.

NY requires a permit to own a handgun. Those were the names and addresses published ( except Dwight R. Worley's)
