Funny how elections that resulted in amendments to state Constitutions have very easily and consistently been overturned by judges at every level of the judicial system. The only elections you’re talking about are PRESIDENTIAL elections; IOW, the POTUS is the king who trumps the Constitution. Why is this OK/tolerated by so-called “conservatives”?
Under my #1, judges are running scared of their legacy as well as their public reputation.
Under my #2, well, thank Roberts for that. Essentially, if the majority of individuals residing within the borders of the US (illegal or not!?!) vote Satan into power, then Satan has free reign to interpret our founding documents as he sees fit...as long as he calls it a tax!
The fundamental understanding of the Constitution was undermined in 1865 and its slow erosion has come to this point, today.
Here on FR, we shouldn’t consider ourselves “conservative” or “originalist” but, more accurately, “Constitutional Fundamentalists”. Too bad that the left has so denigrated the term “fundamentalist” as it wouold be an apt moniker for a viable 3rd party...

It’s almost like it dropped off the face of the earth.
The Constitution does not authorize Congress to interpret or define the term natural born citizen. Consequently, Congress cannot make a determination as to eligibility of a Presidental candidate or President-elect to serve and take the oath of office.
Only the Judicial Branch of government can interpret and define the Constitution or legislation.
