Obama: Some Gun Control Measures 'I Can Accomplish Through Executive Action'
The Weekly Standard ^ | 1/14/13 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 01/14/2013 9:45:07 AM PST by Nachum

"My understanding is the vice president's going to provide a range of steps that we can take to reduce gun violence," said Obama. "Some of them will require legislation, some of them I can accomplish through executive action. And so I will be reviewing those today, and as I said, I will speak in more detail to what we're going to go ahead and propose later in the week.

Likely will make some of these foreign companies to set up shop in the US.

Looks like he’s following the advice shouted so much on discussion boards (”EO,” conspiracy, dictatorship, end of the world, etc.). Bad advice. Most Democrats would switch parties, stop voting, hate the richest few constituents behind gun control, and so on. They like their snazzy firearms to go with their other stylish, tacticool apparel, too.

It’s more obvious every day, that the whole effort is to push prices and availability out of reach of the peasants. Look at prices for the hugely available AR bolt carrier groups on Ebay. Heh—yesterday, scalpers raking in about $500 dollars for each bolt carrier group.

Most likely, yet more subgroups of constituents will be further outlawed by bipartisan elites before long. So far, it’s fathers in child custody disputes (’90s, VAWA, restraining order accusations, misdemeanors) and a few others (veterans with PTSD-whatever-new-letters-added-to-the-acronym). Maybe they’ll go after people with lowbrow credit scores or employment histories with gaps.

That’s because (IMHO) AR-15’s suck.

I’ll put my Saiga (that I lost in an unfortunate boating accident) up against it any day.

Seems to me the DEMONcRATS constantly complained about Dick Cheney having too much power. Is it just me, or does this have the smell of Obozo playing second fiddle to BiteMe???

Reloading will get a bit more populare

Reloaders are in the same boat.
Components have dried up - primers and powder. Folks who sell reloaded ammo are stuck as they can't get components, either.

***No more imports of ammo or gun parts.***

Again this is beginning to look more like 1968 when Bobby Kennedy was killed with a cheap American made handgun.

The libs cobbled together a bill that covered almost everything they hated in the 1968 Gun Control Bill.

It banned the import of 5 shot army surplus rifles and handguns, banned small foreign made handguns, banned the import “military” items.

It did NOT ban the manufacture of the handgun used to kill Bobby Kennedy, or stop the manufacture of small American made handguns.

So some of the foreign companies built parts and shipped them to the US for assembly.

One gun dealer in Tulsa, OK was raided because he imported foreign made MILITARY EQUIPMENT! What was the equipment? MUSKET FLINTS.

About the only thing I think that I see him being able to do is to stop the import of some weapons to this country. He can direct the ATF to issue opinions and then threaten importers with ‘action’. An effective embargo.

I don’t think he can stop the manufacturer of AR-15s, etc. He could also withhold federal funding to those states currently allowing magazine sizes greater than 10 rounds.

He should know this, I hope for most gun owners like myself:

We are not his employees who have to follow his orders; we are not his subjects. We are not going to comply with registration, nor present our weapons for confiscation.

My DEMOCRAT Congressman (Barrow) said on the radio this very morning that:

1. He refuses to vote for any new gun control legislation.
2. That, if proposed, it will not pass the House.
3. That he is not in the minority of Southern Democrats whom see it this way.
3. And... that any E.O. that Obama writes “won’t be worth the paper he writes it on.” /Direct quote.

Exactly what can he accomplish via EO? Maybe insist that the existing laws be enforced? We know what a stickler he is for enforcing the letter of the law....

I'm assuming you're talking about those 'open' bolt carrier groups of early design....

***He could also withhold federal funding to those states currently allowing magazine sizes greater than 10 rounds.***

Forty two years ago Viet Cong blacksmiths, back in the jungle, were using sheet metal and tin snips to manufacture 30 round magazines for captured M-16s.

Does O really think he can stop Americans from manufacturing a 30 rounder if they wanted to?

Remember, these same VC blacksmiths where hand making copies of the .45 1911 pistol.

since Congress and the Courts are complicit co-conspirators to the new Caesar....

” Caesar’s very first enactment after becoming consul was, that the proceedings both of the senate and of the people should day by day be compiled and published. He also revived a by-gone custom, that during the months when he did not have the fasces an orderly should walk before him, while the lictors followed him. He brought forward an agrarian law too, and when his colleague [Bibulus, Caesar’s co-counsel] announced adverse omens,16 he [Caesar] resorted to arms and drove him from the Forum; and when next day Bibulus made complaint in the senate and no one could be found who ventured to make a motion, or even to express an opinion about so high-handed a proceeding (although decrees had often been passed touching less serious breaches of the peace), Caesar’s conduct drove him to such a pitch of desperation, that from that time until the end of his term he did not leave his house, but merely issued proclamations announcing adverse omens.

2 From that time on Caesar managed all the affairs of state alone and after his own pleasure [without regard to the Senate or Bibulus]; so that sundry witty fellows, pretending by way of jest to sign and seal testamentary documents,17 wrote “Done in the consulship of Julius and Caesar,” instead of “Bibulus and Caesar,” writing down p27the same man twice, by name and by surname. Presently too the following verses were on everyone’s lips:—

“In Caesar’s year, not Bibulus’, an act took place of late;

For naught do I remember done in Bibulus’ consulate.”

From: Suetonius’ De Vita XII Caesarum, S. 20

Nope. That will take someone with the one thing that Republicans in the House—guts- to file articles of impeachment. And you can forget about the Senate convicting him.

Yeah VP Biden is the one he assigned / tasked to deal with the 2nd Amendment / gun control issues my a$$. He’s giving the marching orders and pinning it on his VP to keep the crosshairs aimed the other direction,
AT least you know the man’s not dumb. If he gets a gun control mandate ipassed you’re going to see his entire disposition and demeanor change and then his true nature will come out horns and all

Just so everyone knows, when the left says “gun violence,” they really mean “gun ownership.”

So, when they talk about “reducing gun violence,” it means “reducing gun ownership.”

IMHO, the AR15 is a fine choice because it is chambered for the same cartridge that may be used by our adversaries in the coming unpleasantness. Remember, your civilian weapon is only useful as a means to procure a military weapon. Unless your Saiga is a class III weapon and you’ve got buttloads of ammo, mags and spare parts, you’ll be handing it off shortly after hostilities begin. Saiga ammo and magazines won’t be much use in an M4, but AR ammo and mags work just fine.
