Whence cometh the revolution? (...compares level of despotism today to what founders faced in '76)

Why is Justice blindfolded?

I am speaking of the allegorical Justice, also known as “Lady Justice.” She is usually represented holding a balance and sword, the former symbolizing fairness and the latter her power. Altogether, she represents the moral authority of law, or rather, that the law ought to observe morality.

She is also blindfolded. The blindfold represents the impartiality of Justice, that she is subject neither to prejudice nor influence. The second one – influence – is most significant in terms of our discussion.

It has been pointed out that the Boston Tea Party was carried out over confiscatory taxation on a scale far lower than that to which the average American is now obligated. Similarly, recent revelations concerning the egregious and illegal deeds of the Obama administration have given rise to the question of just how much our current situation parallels that of the men who founded this nation.

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

– The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America

Our founders were predominantly Englishmen, most of whom held a love for their country and their heritage, so the decision to risk their lives, property and the future of their progeny was not taken lightly. I believe that the most difficult question they had to consider concerning the impending struggle against the British crown was this: When? When is enough … enough? When, or at what point, was it appropriate in their estimation to seriously discuss revolution? There could be no ambivalence as to their moral right to engage in war with Britain.

Why have gun sales have taken off the last couple of years now?

Panic. Plain, unadulterated panic.

Coupled with the dealers buying up all the merchandise, and reselling them for profit.

No German stopped Hitler and his officers killed millions. Hussein’s officers will do anything he commands. It took the Allied forces to stop Hitler. Will our Hussein step down in 2016? I’m beginning to doubt it.

Yes, our Founding Fathers would have been shooting by now. Truth is though, they were fighting a power across the Atlantic in an age when oceans were a big barrier to resupply and easy victory. Even so they barely won. Most of our Founding Fathers died having lost their fortunes.

We would be fighting federal troops on our own soil. The military we would be fighting would have the best possible tools to take us down. The idea we could win such an insurrection is laughable.

How do you win a war against a force that could hit you from 20,000 feet from over the horizon? Folks, this talk about shooting by now and such is not well thought out.

I do realize something needs to be done, but I’m thinking massive peaceful marches on Washington, D. C., and an awakening of our populace, so that only reform minded people make it to Washington and our state capitals.

When looking at what needs to take place, we need to look at people like Gandhi and King, not Washington and other notable figures from the Revolutionary War.

We could not win a military conflict. Talk of it is dangerous.

We already have idiots in D. C. who want the military to operate on our soil, and think nothing of recording every phone call we make.

I would suggest we need to be careful what we say on forums like this. I would keep it limited to what peaceful things we can do to get things back on track.

What you’re not accounting for is the fact that massive amounts of military assets (soldiers and “equipment”) would become active on the side of the revolutionaries. It wouldn’t be as one-sided as you think...

Never fight the guy sitting in the tank. Fight the guy who voted to send the tank.

I have been saying this for some time now.

I don’t believe that turning our nation into Kosovo is the route to a solid future.

Even if part of the military did break off, you wouldn’t get command and control assets out of it.

You would get bits and pieces of military hardware.

It’s a losing proposition. Count me out of that nonsense.

70 to 80% of the nation would see you like they saw David Koresh or those members of that small church that protests at military funerals.

Exactly. I agree with you both.

Some of these posts about how our Founders would be firing by now, are playing the exact card some in the government would like them to play.

It gives them the talking point they need to justify active military on our soil.

Such talk is a losing proposition. I would go so are as to say such talk it the talk of the enemy, not our ally.

Correction of sloppy sentence...

I would go so far as to say such talk is the talk of the enemy, not our ally.

IMHO, Obama is the one who would start a war.

The ammunition purchases over the last year or so should have people thinking. We’re not headed for a big ground war that I know of, unless...

They’re all nervous. This talk of the Tea Party members being the problem, is real. That’s what they think, both parties.

All of a sudden it’s “dangerous” to revere the Constitution and our founding principles.

I was sometimes accused of not hearing what my wife was saying.

In this instance, we better not be tone deaf. A lot counts on it. We need to observe and gain meaning from it.

We have corruption and a badly run administration in the White House. Each day brings something new.

Been reading commie blaster and this site and it is just one thing after another. Commie Blaster does use a lot of the blogs and sites we all go to. It is like Drudge on steroids.

Only 3% took part in the Revolution.

I have a strong suspicion that percentage would be a lot higher today.

That’s 9,600,000. Can DC handle that many before the swamp sinks?

It's been estimated that no more than fifteen thousand 'insurgents' were ever actively involved in the fight with US forces in the Iraq war. That small number tied down the finest military on the planet for ten years.

What is Big Brother going to do with MILLIONS of angry, armed American citizens?

...where is our red line? Sadly, he has crossed it so any times, and nothing is done.

Nothing's been "done" because as bad as it's been, that red line hasn't yet been crossed.

There's a tremendous amount of outrage among us, but the one crucial spark that will light the prairie fire hasn't yet dropped. The building scandals are most definitely raising the pressure, but so far the regime has been careful enough not to light a match in this flammable environment.

But look who we're discussing. Do you really think they'll be able to control the behavior of every one of their actors forever? Can they even control themselves? They're as arrogant and out of touch, as the day is long. Overreach is their middle name. They're going to make a misstep at some point, and all hell is going to break loose.

Revolt is coming. Not today or tomorrow even, but it is coming.

Revolt is already happening on the most important level - people are deliberately earning less income than they otherwise might try to earn. Even the able no longer care to fight a rigged system.

Rather than an angry, fiery revolution the average American is already engaging in a quiet revolution: "F**k it - they are all crooks." Respect for government and American institutions is now at an all-time low - middle-class whites having little more of it than poor, urban blacks and Hispanics.

And the drying up of revenue is making the tyrants more and more frantic, as they scream wildly at Bernanke to make something happen NOW.

Eventually the money will run out. Whoever is President will lash out wildly with the military at some hapless foe in an attempt to seize gold or resources. We will lose - again - and continue to diminish.

We may well become like Russia in the 1990s - a military superpower with a Third World economy. Would-be billionaires will start assassinating each other, recruiting ex-Special Forces and CIA operatives as personal security. The "little people" will be totally disconnected from government, but unlike in Russia, our multi-racial society will lead to many nasty little civil wars being fought beneath the notice of the government-media-entertainment complex.

Ugly times lie ahead. A turnaround may not come until many decades in the future.

D.O., you're a smart person. I don't know why you let your pessimism overrule your higher analytical functions over this question.

Think of the orders of magnitude we're discussing. 1.5 million armed federal troops versus 100 million armed 'insurgent' citizens.

Of course the federals have awesome force multipliers, but those weapons have to be directed by someone. Those people are Americans too, with family and friends intermingled amongst us. Do you honestly think that every single American in uniform will just blindly obey an order to suppress their fellow citizens with force?

An order to implement Martial Law will first result in an internal struggle within the military itself. It'll be patriot against drone, and I fully expect the patriots to carry the day. Even if they were somehow outnumbered by loyal drones, the havoc they'd wreak on operations would be so intense, that the entire effort would be scuttled. Meanwhile, you'd have tens of millions of patriot citizens helping in every way they could, to help their fellows in the ranks.

Again - think it through. Don't you think the regime would have hauled us off to the gulags by now if they had the power to do so? Of course they would. Instead, they're forced to attempt their treasonous overthrow of the Constitution through skullduggery and hidden means, and the covers are being ripped off all of that as we speak.

“70 to 80% of the nation would see you like they saw David Koresh or those members of that small church that protests at military funerals.’

70 to 80% of people in this country aren’t God. I’ll get as near to right as I can by my God.
