RALEIGH, N.C. - A Raleigh tattoo parlor is accused of taking hundreds of dollars in welfare benefits for tattoos, Raleigh Police say.
Warrants show Raleigh police learned in early 2013 that Ink Addiction Tattooz at 2012-B Poole Road was accepting Electronic Benefit Transfer cards as payment for tattoo work.
Court documents show an informant purchased tattoo work from owner Clifford Craig Tittle using two EBT cards. The informant also sold Tittle two more EBT cards.

And those darn Republicans want to cut 4 billion from the food stamp scam. Heartless right wingers.
Customers evidently handed over their EBT cards (which can have both cash and food benefits on them) to the tattoo operator to settle the tattoo bill.
Many people would read the title and conclude that tattoos somehow were purchased by charging the tattoo to the food benefit part of the card.
What next— gas station, car repair shop, Best Buy for the latest electronicx?

Has Hairy Reed made brothels accept food stamps yet?
Actually, benefits on the TANF (cash) part of the card can be used at any of those places. That’s what it is — cash.
The food side of the card can be used only for food — unless you sell the whole card, which it what these tattoo customers are alleged to have done.
I would venture to guess that half of all EBT cards get sold for lower amounts of cash, and the ones that are kept are used far more for processed foods and junk foods than fruits or meats.

Food stamps...at an autoparts store????!!!!!!!
President Trayvon hasn’t yet weighed in on the issue, but you can rest assured the tatoo artist acted stupidly.
I agree with the second part but my state (in the west) did an investigation and concluded that about 3% of EBT cards in this state were involved in fraud. It is possible that in some deep urban areas of the country that your figure might be on the mark.
The Electronic Benefits Transfer card is not just food stamps although that is how it is commonly envisioned.
If the person with the card qualifies for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), their TANF benefit is also on the card. TANF is the new welfare in that it is a CASH benefit and spends just like cash. So this portion of the EBT card can be used just like a bank debit card.
If you were receiving food stamps and not TANF, you could not use the EBT card to pay for a tattoo.

Actually that’s a good thing ,,, at least where I live you cannot work without a car and it would be terrible to lose a job because your alternator went out and you couldn’t pay for a replacement.

Do they sell 24” rims?
No one on welfare should be getting tattoos. Or piercings. Or buying jewelry. If they have money to waste on such things, they have no business soaking the taxpayer for their food. Same goes for cable tv. Having cable should be immediate grounds for removal from the welfare rolls.
The Dems meant what they said when they treated welfare payments as “stimulus”; their focus is on the end user, not the taxpayer funding it, and you can bet your bottom dollar EVERYONE accepting these payments views welfare as stimulus as well. The “poverty industry” has become an economy unto itself, from Obama phone makers to nail salons specializing in 6” talons to the unfunded gubmint workers paid to “provide services” (cops, teachers, social workers), and they will forever vote Democrat to keep the payments flowing.
Does anyone know a Dem voter that doesn’t benefit financially from it? I don’t.
Just met Obama lover that just got screwed by the ACA and still loves the guy. Go figure.

Because in some way they are being paid to love him. His supporters have no principles.
