As Cruz hews to hard line, other 2016 contenders go mute on shutdown
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3077997/posts

[snip] ...in the aftermath of Cruz’s fiery speech... The shutdown went unmentioned by Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), both early champions of the defunding battle. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who is working toward a compromise with the White House on the shutdown and debt ceiling that does not erode ObamaCare, made a short argument for his alternate plan in Friday afternoon video message to the group... Paul’s and Rubio’s dodges, and Ryan’s implicit rebuke, demonstrate that they are seeking to avoid being tainted by the fight’s fallout while avoiding any confrontation with the party’s base. Cruz used his speech to frame the debate over ObamaCare and the government shutdown in stark terms, painting it as a key battle in the larger war for individual freedom. [/snip]

Good...I really hope some of our folks with particular political views, you know, conservatives...That actually live in this shmups district give him a ring, and tell him to hold the line, he’s doing great...Don’t screw this up...

Obviously he is susceptible to influences of a moderate bent anyway...Might as well pull him by the arm the other way...

>Unless the Republicans totally capitulate to Pres Stompy Foot there shall be no agreement.

This WAS a total capitulation and he still didn’t take it. Obama is going for the kill. Wonder why he is so confident? Just the regular narcissism and delusion or something else this time?

Agree Don C. and Yorkiemom! I've thought that all along. These people have gone to such extreme lengths/measures/tactics - you name it - to gain and hold on to the levers of power in government. They will not go away quietly, easily, graciously - no matter, no way! There's no telling what it's going to come to, where it's all going to lead, to oust the commie/marxists so bent on remaking America in their own image. Don't know if there are enough of us left in the country right now to make a difference.

But I remember history, too, and the "freedom fighters" of our nation's founding, both in battle and in the continental congress (Washington, Adams, Franklin, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, Hancock, et al.), who all - against great odds - held strong and eventually won this nation's freedom from the British. Can it be done again...against the marxists? Dear Lord, God, I hope so!

Once the Marxists have seized power it is not easy to get them out with just ‘words’. Other means will be necessary.

THANK YOU for stating the TRUTH that most Americans, even here on FR would rather just pretend is not an historical FACT.

There is NO WAY POSSIBLE to stop Marxists once in the positions of power they have usurped for themselves without the use of 'other means'.

History teaches that the ONLY remedy is the use of force or the threat of force. Marxists rewrite the rules and remake morality to suit their permanent hold on power. They will not respect or acquiesce to laws and rules they have decided they can ignore and pervert at their pleasure.

Wake up to reality folks. There is no stopping Obama and his MarxoFascists within the entire system they have corrupted for themselves, INCLUDING the GOP leadership.

Other means will be our only chance to survive without being made slaves or worse.

Ping, from earlier threads.

It looks like this time, Obama may be demanding 100 % capitulation from the Republicans. If he was willing to make concessions to avoid default, why hasn’t he done it already? The banks, like JPMorgan, are going public with how a default would, at least in their view, literally destroy the nation financially, and so if Obama is aware of this now, and would not actually cause default, why hasn’t he already reached an agreement?

So, House: impeach him. He will have more to worry about then, maybe he will exit.

He should be arrested treason against the Republic.

Obama wants to set the the precedent of raising the debt ceiling himself by EO. He’s laying the framework for how he will operate independently of Congress for the rest of his term.

Drudge has deal broke down, alright, the deal shouldn’t even be, give them nothing. Give the bureaucrats, ruling elites nothing. I fear a deal, they said the deal funded Obamacare.

This negotiation is really not that complicated and the solution is simple. This is like a home purchase negotiation where the buyer wants to spend $190K and the seller wants him to spend $210K. To get a deal done, both negotiators have to agree on the amount the buyer is going to spend and they both have to move off their original
positions into the center and meet the other negotiator half way. They have to move towards each other and agree on a price of about $200K, or there will not be a deal and a home purchase. That’s the way these negotiations work in the business world. It’s very simple, and that’s what will ultimately happen in these debt limit negotiations, because it has to happen.

It’s time for everybody in Washington to stop all the name-calling, insults, wild exaggerations, and filibusters, and then move to the center and make a deal that re-opens the federal government. Both parties need to move substantially toward the other party, reach a deal, and re-open the government. That’s what will ultimately happen, but why do negotiations have to continue all the way down to the supposed “day before default”? That just scares the financial markets and causes unsophisticated investors to sell financial assets at bargain prices to savvy institutional investors (...again). Everybody just needs to move toward the center and get a deal done this weekend. Then Obama and Boehner can watch Monday Night Football and drink a beer together, while Harry Reid watches re-runs of Vega$ on another screen and drinks Dasani water. This deal could be completed by late Sunday night or early Monday morning if everybody just makes a substantial move towards the other party in a calm business-like way. That’s better for the county than long, nasty, politicized negotiations and last-minute deals.

Good news

They already made an offer. Just because Obama rejected it does not mean he will accept it after he sees what the Senate has to offer.

Obama doesn’t care one way or the other. If the government stays shut down the media will blame the republicans and the idiots always believe the media. If the debt limit is not raised obama will simply not make the loan payments and the media will blame the republicans. The truth of the matter is, the republicans are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

But it’s the republicans’ fault they’re in this predicament. They should have challenged obama when he first announced he was running for president. There was the Chicago paper that said he was from Kenya. There was the book he was trying to pitch that said he was born in Kenya.

Once he got into office he put his people on the court, his people in charge of the military, his people in charge of the FBI and CIA and his people at the NSA. Now the republicans are being controlled by what he knows about them.

He repeatedly said he would NOT negotiate. Then that started to backfire on him so he called the republicans to the white house to TELL them to their faces that he won’t negotiate. And the people think that’s negotiating.
