As Turkey rapidly re-Islamizes, it appears to be trying to create the justification for a new jihad offensive against Israel.
"Turkish military trying to provoke an incident with Israelis in Mediterranean," from the World Tribune, October 31:
TEL AVIV Turkey has been challenging Israels military throughout the Mediterranean.
Military sources said Turkey has used its Navy and Air Force to disrupt Israeli operations around the Mediterranean. They said the Turkish Air Force and Navy harassed Israeli warplanes during patrols and exercises over the last six months.
They are trying to provoke an incident with us that could have strategic repercussions, a source said.
The sources said the Turkish military was ordered by Prime Minister Recep Erdogan to disrupt Israeli operation near waters or air space claimed by Ankara, including those around the Republic of Cyprus. They said this has hampered recent exercises in the eastern Mediterranean with Greece, including one that took place earlier this month.
The Turks view us as they do the Greeks, which means that the Turkish military flexes its muscles at every opportunity it gets, the source said. In the air, Turkish warplanes are playing a game of chicken with our forces.
The sources said Ankara has been dismayed by Israels growing military cooperation with Greece. They said the Israeli cooperation, which included military exercises, training and arms projects, replaced Turkey with Greece as a leading defense partner of the Jewish state. In November, Israel plans to host three NATO members in the largest international exercise in the country.
Erdogan thought that Turkey could isolate Israel militarily, particularly in NATO, when the opposite has taken place, another source said. Israel has more military exchanges than ever with individual NATO members while Ankara has been marginalized....
Hope that keeps up.
.
Remind me. When did Turkey acquire nuclear and thermonuclear weapons in substantial quantities? What’s that you say, they have neither? Well then, I think I’d leave a nation-state with both alone, wouldn’t you? Not to mention a secret intelligence service that’s considered the best in the world.
There’s a spiritual dimension behind clashes of Israel and Islamic countries.
I don’t think Turkey has any great aspirations at this point. It perhaps only wants the creds of yes, it messed around with Israel and lived to tell the tale.
Which is pretty cowardly because Israel, while it can put the hammer down if it wants, usually only exercises local defense.
The God of Israel is the same God that sent His Son for Christians and all who will ultimately accept (including old covenant saints).
“Well then, I think Id leave a nation-state with both alone, wouldnt you? “
We are at a bizarre moment in history where nuclear weapons don’t matter until they do. For sixty-some odd years the United States has guaranteed global peace by threatening annihilation to any nation that used the weapons we’d have to use to annihilate them. This was never a spoken threat, but implied. Under our present president, I’d say the only nation on Earth this threat still applies to is Israel.
Seriously, if Israel used nuclear weapons it would become the most isolated chunk of land on the planet. Once used the world’s calculus will change in unexpected and unpredictable ways. As one Israeli official publically proclaimed, “Israel will not be the first to use nuclear weapons.” Then, sotto voce he added, “we won’t be the second, either.”
Israel is unlikely to use nuclear weapons unless they state is facing immanent destruction. There will be a whole lot of deaths and maybe lost wars before that happens.
Are the weapons at Murted, Balikesir, and Incirlik gone? (Seriously, I don't know...)
There used to be nukes at those three locations (plus Eskisehir...which I know is now gone) that were under control of the US until released by NATO to Turkey...I don't know if they were ever withdrawn.
(And, btw, for those who say "loose lips" -- I checked to make sure the information was already publicly available before posting it)
I doubt that we left stray nuclear weapons lying around after we left an overseas installation. We’ve never done that anywhere else.
Much of this would hinge on Israel's perception of any Iranian threat yes? If they believe Iran is about to do something real foolhardy they may throw the kitchen sink at them without anyone firing a single shot.
Who said we left?
At least as late as when I was stationed in Aviano (mid 90s), there were troops at those locations (sky cops, munitions maintenance, and comm troops).
One other point: funny thing about the SOFA with Turkey. Any property that stayed in country more than 90 days became property of the Turkish General Staff.
As an example, the 401st TFW was actually war planned to operate out of Incirlik, but because of the Turkish SOFA, they were only ever TDY to Incirlik...and were stationed at Torrejon. They rotated in and out on 89 day TDYs to avoid that little provision of the SOFA (of course, when Torrejon closed, they moved the wing to Aviano and redesignated it the 31 FW...but that's another story altogether)
“Much of this would hinge on Israel’s perception of any Iranian threat yes? If they believe Iran is about to do something real foolhardy they may throw the kitchen sink at them without anyone firing a single shot. “
As whacko-crazy as Iran sounds, I don’t think Israel perceives them as being that crazy. Iran would most likely arm a third party actor with a nuke that could be assembled in Israel. But the Ayatollahs are probably not as suicidal as their religious adherents and probably Israel perceives this. Instead, the Ayatollahs will use their weapons for extortion. They will subjugate the entire middle east by threats much as North Korea on a much smaller scale extorts whatever they want from the west. NK has even sunk a warship with no response other than a strongly worded diplomatic note.
A nuke will probably explode someplace before Israel takes action. Once one has exploded the myth of their non-use will evaporate in the 3,000 degree heat. But whichever side uses them first will lose the resulting “peace” in the long term. The inability to predict what the post nuclear world will look like will stay many a finger from “The Button.”
Have they tried insulting their mothers?
Here's hoping.
Unfortunately there are many who seem rapturous at the thought of self detonation and the more spectacular the better. That number is growing.Their so-called god drives them into the dust and their hatred of Israel through the roof.Somewhere in that seething sea of islam is the wrong person who will end up in the wrong place at the right time.It seems merely a matter of time.
“It seems merely a matter of time. “
I agree. Given a 100 year window a major nuclear war and several minor ones seems inevitable. While a seemingly stumbling cowboy who couldn’t pronounce “nuclear” had his finger on the button the whole world backed away and played nice. But with a metrosexual more concerned about subjugating his people the world’s bullies have gotten peckish.
Having said that, I think that in reality Islam is most likely to use nukes against other Islamists first. At some level they’re more threatened by other sects than Israel, which is more or less a caricature to frighten their children.
Yeah, um, that’s real smart. Terry Bradshaw is getting to be an old man. I’m going to go right up and punch him in the nose. I’m sure I can take him. Uh huh.
Mess with the Bull and you get the Bibi.
Trivia: Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson was the starting QB for Louisiana Tech. His backup: Terry Bradshaw.

Ancient history is about to repeat itself. When Israel & Judah were under the control of Persia, a new, liberating power arose in the west that swept through the Persian Empire and into India, conquering everyone in its path in just 12 short years.
That power was Greece led by Alexander the Great.
When Alexander was marching towards the Levant, history tells us that Jewish priests ran out to meet him waving scrolls of Daniel’s prophecies about him. Alexander was so pleased by this, he ordered his army to spare the Jews and Jerusalem, finding them to be allies rather than enemies. Jews fought in Alexander’s army as it swept through the rest of the Persian Empire.
Unfortunately, years after Alexander’s death, the Ptolemies of Egypt and the Selucids of Syria didn’t treat the Jews with the same respect as Alexander did, but even this was prophesied in the book of Daniel.
Jews and Greeks allied to sweep through the old Persian Empire again? What a sight that would be!
I’m a frequent visitor to Turkey for a last 20 years and it starts to smell 1975 Tehran all over the place.
Older people are open minded and secular but the ‘youtes’ are full of crap. 35+ women are mostly “mom’s” blue jeans etc, 15 something are in their full “ninja” pajama outfit. Younger guys are bearded and full of crap. Their president is actively screwing their national economy and voila it is US, Russia (major trading partners) and of course the “jooooos” to blame.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

So, if Israel attacked Turkey from the rear do you think Greece would help? _ :^)
