This posting is pretty offensive. He doesn’t really say anything of substance, besides ridiculing the SNAP program and the people on it. This guy is probably a good example of why people don’t like, or think they don’t like, conservatives. The fact is, there are a wide variety of people using the program, some more legitimately than others. Some are working, some are looking for work. Some are old. Some are disabled. And yes, some are scamming. Some retailers are conspiring with them to scam.
I’ve heard that the problem of illegals getting this and other government giveaways is actually grossly exaggerated. I don’t know. But it doesn’t serve the cause of fixing the immigration problem if we don’t have our facts straight. And it doesn’t serve any cause to call people names and perpetrate stereotypes. Is this country really so divided that we see each other in such dehumanizing terms? This is what the left does. We can do better.

Actually, I don’t find it offensive at all. I see SNAP recipients every day at my WalMart. Seventeen percent of the people in my county are on SNAP, 6000 of them.

I never see any of them that are underfed, I never see any of them that are underdressed unless you want to count the ones I see around 10 or 11AM still in their jammies and slippers. I hardly ever see things like rice, potatoes, canned or raw vegetables - hardly anything that you’d have to put in a pot/oven or cook. Mostly microwave packaged food and snacky items. Whenever I happen to be going out with them to the parking lot, they invariably get in a nicer car than mine and drive off home. I hear them talk among themselves and even with the cashier - the are PROUD of what they get, even boast. They treat that card like a Platinum Amex.

47 Million today are on SNAP - Obama has doubled up to that in 5 years! Verification in applications is virtually non-existent and fraud is rampant - just like in EITC. You know, we hear ‘cuts’ in SNAP and all sorts of crying, but the media NEVER tells you that SNAP is only one spoke in the entitlement wheel. Most of them are on disability, or TANF, or SECTION Housing, welfare Mommas are always on WICs, and all of them get a whopping big EITC check every year.

Putting the point of fraud and multiple entitlements aside, just because someone was too shortsighted in preparation for education, preparation (saving) for life’s unexpected problems, and so on, that is no reason their burden should be forcibly solved by the US Taxpayer. That is the job of Churches, Benevolent Organizations like Salvation Army, and family and friends.

I had a renter who was apparently getting cash from reselling steaks she bought on her EBT. But when she moved out in the middle of August and the power was off for two weeks before I found out she’d left, she abandoned $100 worth of steaks in the refrigerator. She did take the several cases of beer, though.

Incidentally, there’s a chemical/bacteria mix that neutralizes the stink. You spray it on and the carrier evaporates. The bacteria eats the live agents you can’t see and the stink is all gone. Thirty bucks a gallon. I had to spray the whole place.

I support emergency assistance for the truly needy, but we are way, waaaay beyond that now. This is Bread and Circuses.

The ENTIRE Food Stamp (SNAP) programs needs to be completely scrapped.

It is an $80 Billion a year kettle of fraud and abuse.

Here is what should replace it:

- Bring back the requirements (before Obama scrapped them) that you can only get food assistance for 3 months in 3 years

- Bring back the work requirements (again, that Obama scrapped)

- Eliminate the Obama guidelines that if you qualify for any Federal handout program, then you automatically qualify for Food Stamps

- Never, ever make the program a plastic ATM card again, ever; it should be coupons that you have to present, and to heck with the "stigma" of those using them. Stigma is necessary when you are taking someone else's money

- Tighten up the qualification requirements so that illegals cannot use the coupons

- Make it illegal again to use the coupons at any restaurant, fast food joint, or any establishment that also sells liquor or cigarettes

- Establish clear guidelines so that the coupons cannot be used for junk, fatty, or luxury items

Think about this... poverty and unemployment are at all time highs. We have more homeless now than ever before. We are going to go bankrupt in the next 5 to 10 years if we do not reverse course. The EBT/SNAP system has an admitted level of corruption pegged at around 80 billion a year. Many say this is a low estimate.

I have people coming into my store with boxes of steaks and they are selling them for 1/2 the marked price... just purchased with one of their ebt cards... most have multiple obama phones. These people are mostly white, black and hispanic. I am speaking of my personal experience here. This is not about race.

In the past 5 years of obama, the Federal Government has spent 3.7 Trillion dollars on welfare (directly). Now go read my first sentence again.

It isn't working, we can no longer afford it and it is harming those people who truly need the help and are unable to help themselves. I think being worried about "feelings" and what people who are never going to vote for you any way... think of you... is waaaaaaaaaay down on the list of mandatory priorities. Spending is going to have to be slashed to save America... it is not going to be pretty or pleasant and riots may just happen... but no matter how we "feel"... we either save this republic or damn Earth to many years of darkness. Without us... the light will dim.

Visual evidence is compelling. A friend is a cashier at Krogers and she lives this joke. Food stamp recipients are pretty much all the same.......overweight, elaborate hair and nail designs, lots of bling, always on a cellphone, expensive food and at certain times of the month there are endless lines of them.

When I visited Yellowstone, I saw recommendations not to feed the wildlife, along with explanations of why it is a bad idea. When they are fed, they lose the ability to forage for themselves and they become aggressive when they do not receive handouts. A wild animal that has become accustomed to handouts is far more dangerous than a wild animal that fends for itself.

It seems to me that these characteristics apply equally well to people who are conditioned to depend on handouts.

Cut the fraud and abuse. Period. I certainly recognize that many people need assistance..I’ve seen in and know several who’ve lost jobs, barely making it, trying to raise families. But there’s far too many straphangers abusing the system.

Obviously there are some people that truly need help. But it isn’t one out if every seven people in the us. The conservative message should be we will eliminate fraud so that those that really need help will get it at a much lower cost to the taxpayers that pay for it.

I'll say it's offensive.I could tell you stories about the members of the "leisure class" (I *love* that term) that I met during my 20 year career at a large,big city hospital.A quick story from that hospital..a young woman,leisure class,several kids,no husband,medicaid card.She was in to have surgery to "tighten" her private area.Seems that after a couple of kids it needed it...according to the new boyfriend who insisted that this surgery be done so that he might "enjoy" himself more during his intimate moments with this breeding cow.The surgeon wrote that he advised the woman that the surgery was unnecessary but that she insisted on it because the *boyfriend* insisted on it.She had the surgery...courtesy of the taxpayers of Massachusetts and the United States.I *saw* this with my own eyes.And I saw lots,and lots,and lots,and *lots* of equally nauseating things connected to the "leisure class".

Very true.Some,IMO,truly need and deserve assistance and,therefore,I'd never support the elimination of certain "welfare" programs.But I will,until the day I die,demand that at least half of those in this country receiving this $$$ be cut off completely....the half that have,with the encouragement and assistance of the modern Rat Party,chosen welfare as their career.

Actually, I do know some people who are disabled and cannot get SNAP cards cause they get social security, so yes I call the vast number who get SNAP what they are-parasites, ticks, and deadbeats.

Yes, some are legitimately using the program, but many are gaming the system for free stuff. 41,000,000+ people are on the program. Don’t tell me most are legitimate.

Just one more quick comment...I took a peek at your profile and see that you have arthritis.The hospital for which I worked is considered to be the world's leading hospital for the treatment of arthritis...along with many other things (it's in Boston).As a result I know how disabling arthritis can be,having seen it up close and personal.So *you*,IMO,are one of the people who I'd support getting government help if you needed it.We shouldn't *eliminate* various welfare programs...just restrict them to those who really need and deserve them.

Why should any non-citizens get government freebies of any kind? If these non-citizens (legal or illegal) can't support themselves in the US, it destroys the argument that their presence in the US is necessary.

The "prize" for a non-citizen applying for benefits of any kind should be a one way ticket home.

Only a welfare scammer (or a politician) could argue with that logic. At present, the system is functioning largely as a taxpayer funded cash transfer from the "ruling class" to the "leisure class". Deadbeats, scammers and illegals (including Muslim terrorists such as the Tsarnaevs) shouldn't be swilling from the public trough, period.

Btw, that woman having the elective surgery on her private parts at taxpayer expense is just plain gross. The way the state squeezes hard-working taxpayers (including young kids working part-time to save for school, and families struggling to put bread on the table) for every possible penny and wastes it in such noxious ways is utterly immoral.
