Yes. HE opened the door. The screen was locked, and there is apparently no evidence that she tried to open it. It will be very hard for him to argue that he reasonably feared imminent death or serious bodily harm when he opened the door to the supposed threat.

Was his porch light working, Did he have it turned on. Visibility through the screen. If there was no outside light, could he see through the screen?

My understanding is that she spoke with “people” at the scene of the accident. Witnesses said she was driving very fast. At least one woman described blood [I don’t know how much or where].

Even through this young lady had high blood alcohol, her actions may have been from shock or the effects of the accident.

There are no winners here.

I feel for all the law abiding citizens of Detroit. It can’t be easy.

There is no Dearborn County, this is Wayne County.

Dearborn Heights is actually just 8% Black.

The news says Dearborn a white enclave surrounded by questionable neighborhoods.

Dearborn and Dearborn Heights share a common border with Detroit and are in the same county. Dearborn especially worked hard for decades to keep Blacks out, fearing an influx would turn them into high-crime slums. Now that the Black population of Detroit is leaving, they’re turning the formerly all-White surrounding areas to the point that some have already become majority Black or will be within a few decades.

Wasn’t it, like, THREE HOURS after the car crash that she allegedly “sought help.” (That is, she was finally sobered up?) Why do they miss key points like this in the first couple of sentences? Oh yeah - agenda. Think George Zimmerman.

I don't suppose that his claim of accidental discharge has the potential to change the equation...

Some folks seem to think that shoot to kill is the only/best answer to anything out of the norm - I hope most of them dispense with carrying their weapons if they lack the ability to be situationally aware and to keep their brains in gear.

It's in Dearborn Heights, which is in Wayne Co. (the County Detroit is in) but it's not part of the City of Detroit.

From Wikipedia:

The racial makeup of the city was 86.1% White, 7.9% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 1.0% from other races, and 2.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.7% of the population.

The Demographics for the county:

The racial and ethnic makeup of the county was 49.6% White, 40.3% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 2.5% Asian, 5.2% Hispanic or Latino, 0.1% from other races, and 2.0% from two or more races.

I believe major crimes are prosecuted at the county level and so the jury pool will be drawn from the county as well. He might get a 1/2 white jury.

Something else to figure into this is what police response in that area is like. The comment "call 9/11" will be made alot. But does anyone come. It's well known in Detroit that the Police often never show for emergency calls.

More like BAM BAM BAM BAM on the metal frame, then grabbed the door handle and gave that several hard pulls. Just saying I doubt the scenario was her knocking on the screen door in a dainty fashion, and being a polite little lady begging for assistance (”please kind sir....”) - at 3 a.m.. If the cops in that area really take an hour to respond, I probably would have taken matters in my own hands (if I owned a gun), except I would have kept the safety on until the B attempted to step inside w/o an invitation. Call me racist, don’t care.

It doesn't, and most rational people have worked out how they'd respond in a situation like that. Call 911, activate remotely the alert button on the car, or buy such technology to have on the property. Scream so she can hear...sit down, I've dialed 911 for you.

The homeowner might have been justified. He does have some expaining to do. JMHO
