This deal has no effect on future budgets

No deal can impugn future budgets/congresses

‘Sure, but do we lay down our principles along the way? Will the next mantra be, “it’s a bad immigration deal, but we have to fccus othe next election?”’

It's important to lay down core principles and run on them, but, as Herman Cain said on his radio show today you have to pick your battles in order to win the war. Conservative candidates should pick three or four core values and run on them. My recommendations are : pro-life, strong military, repeal and replace the ACA, and border security. What are yours?

Sure, it’s like me charging 10 grand on my credit card today and making a “plan” to pay it off plus interest in less than 10 years. At that point anything I earn will be put into my savings. In what universe is this is a responsible way to “save?”

Excuse me while I attempt to catch my breath.

The GOP had the whole of D.C. for 4 years during Bush, and what did ‘we’ get?: NSA, TSA, No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part XYZ, Tarp, etc.

In fact, I cannot lay my finger upon any reversal of Law, Dept. abolished, line item 0’d out...

What ‘worthwhile objectives’ were YOU talking about?? ‘Cuz all *I’ve* heard recently is: ‘fixing’ OCare, amnesty and more $ MORE $ MORE $$

Ryan's an *ss. I'm hopeful that Rubio learned his lesson after being played by the immigration gang....Ryan should listen to Rubio here. Ryan himself negotiates something with no time to read it and discuss it before it goes up for a vote in the HOR?

Is Ryan an idiot or is he purposely striving to singlehandedly destroy conservative initiatives?

All of the above plus leaving my kids and the future generations with a growing economy and not servitude through a mountain of debt.

Just read elsewhere that, “what’s in it” was already known all over town, (Matt Kibbe reveals this), leaked by Boehner’s office, and this bleed out naturally gave the suspicious the ability and time to follow along and be instantly prepared for the obvious and nefarious.

A really duh moment for Boehner and Paul Ryan, left to complain that the opposition can’t possibly know “what’s in it” because they hadn’t time to read it. The opposition DID know.

Matt Kibbe For President! I like him. What a fighter.

That logic is mind-numbingly stupid. The GOP has more leverage now than in years. The congressional poll shows people want to elect a GOP Congress by several points. If they’re going to cave into the other side now, when will they ever not cave in? Even when they have full power, they’ll still say, we don’t want to lose it to the Dems next year, so we’ll keep passing liberal bills so they can’t criticize us in the press. This is what Bush did, leftist lite, and why we’re in the mess we’re in now.

As long as the Dems hold one branch of government, they will always be able to shut it down. If the GOP is afraid of that, then they will constantly pass whatever the Dems want. The Dems may as well have full power if that’s the case. If the public is too stupid to think passing bad, liberal bills is better than shutting down the government, they get what they deserve. After Cruz was proven right, the public might be more open to listening to us next time.

Bottom line, our reps have to have the courage to lose their seats by doing the right thing and voting the right way. And if they want to run on fear, let them be afraid of getting their butts booted out in a primary. We don’t need to elect anyone who will vote for Democrat bills out of fear or for any reason. And I fail to see how voting for a Democrat bill “helps” the GOP win any elections. If there’s no difference between the GOP candidate and the Dem, they’ll look like another Romney and lose.

OK ... each state has to seek out and draft two warrior politicians.

Two guys (sorry ladies ... this is a possibly bloody scenerio I don't want you in) that will go into the Senate and kick ass

Screw the politicians anymore ... they're all limp and useless to America and her future.

Ever see these guys dress?

1200 dollar suits, 400 dollar shoes, 60 dollar socks ...

I think it's time for some sweaty testosterone

GOD how I wish I was younger and in better health.

Worse, the airline fees increase falls on the heads of Republicans, according to Ryan on GRETA, as he said those fees pay back the sequester cash he gave away. (My paraphrase.)

“You can’t piss off your base in order to win elections. The GOP is toast.”

True, but in many states, unfortunately, conservative candidates cannot win with support only from the base.
*******************************************************************
Yes, that is true but for many congressional districts, Republican candidates can’t lose—unless they’re caught with a dead child sexual partner.

Check out the party registration stats in Boehner’s home district for example. There is not a reason in the world why someone from that district needs to be a RINO. Yet Boehner largely is.

As our generals said, the national debt is the greatest threat to our military. We need to run on paying off the debt. And the military needs to get their budget cut too. We can’t afford it.

Excellent post. You have to admire the Dems in that regard. They got the blue dog dems to vote for obamacare, even though many knew it would mean losing their seat in the next election. With them, ideology trumps elections as long as they forward their agenda. Our side could learn from them. We’ve forwarded nothing and now are going to give up our one constraint – the sequester. Mind numbing.

The bill stinks however the only hope to stop more damage from Obama in his last 3 years is to let Obamacare continue to sink and the Reps get the House and Senate back in 2014.

“All of the above plus leaving my kids and the future generations with a growing economy and not servitude through a mountain of debt.”

Sounds great. How do we achieve the latter without regaining control of the Senate and the White House? (And I understand that doing so is necessary, but not sufficient, for achieving those goals.)

The eras of ‘back room deals’ and ‘party tough guy’ leaders are gone, and we are the weaker for it.

In the old days a leader was closeted with the chosen next generation leaders, they would work their strategy in private and then come out with more or less one voice.

Democrats, the masters of this in Rayburn and Johnson prior to 60s but the old Republicans prior to 1950 were good at this as well.

Now, we betray our stategy, negotiate by sound byte on talk radio and give out our stategy in public with oppostion always afforded the time to work around us.

A Henry Cabot Lodge of the 50s is needed and we have Boehner who has burnt his bridges with the next generation of congressional leaders time and again.

EITHER tactic would get us success if done in unity, pre-planned and done by teamwork. These guys need to work together or there is no reason for a Party, its a group without a winning program, Tea Party types included.
