"We know that being gay is not a choice someone makes, and that to suggest otherwise can be incredibly harmful."

Is HRC saying being gay is a birth defect?

“We know that being gay is not a choice someone makes”

Open with a self-serving falsehood like that and anything more you say isn’t worth a bucket of lukewarm spit.

Of course any organism that cannot reproduce or chooses not to reproduce is by definition a Darwinian defective.

Then shouldn’t we be trying to find a cure?

I remember a few decades ago when the gays themselves called it a “lifestyle CHOICE”. This was before they discovered that it was politically advantageous for it NOT to be a choice.

Choosing sexual degeneracy appears to be similar to drug addiction, once the choice is made to steep yourself in it you are addicted and seeking to see yourself as just, well, normal. Of course an addiction mind is not functioning normally. To tell them they’re normal is to lie to them and make their escape that much harder to accomplish.

Actually I agree with that — that homosexuality is not a choice, but it’s also not useful or beneficial to the species. Therefore it’s a defect, or at best an anomaly like our appendix. It reminds me of someone born with a harelip, who wants to insist that having a harelip is cute and cool and fabulous, and that anyone who thinks that they should have surgery for the harelip is a harelipophobe. It’s just absurd.

It is akin to saying "alcoholism" is not a choice, but no one seriously denies that drinking alcohol is a choice.

SOL, that more of what i was trying to say the other day...

one can be alcoholic and choose not to drink, and avoid the problem of alcoholic life...

the queer sex lifestyle is a choice, whether or not we allow the 'born that way' argument to obfuscate the discussion...

just as the promiscuous hetero lifestyle is a sinful choice...too bad most of our culture applauds extra-marital sex and its become 'normal' from our moral standards, not Gods...

It seems that the “Gay Gene” is the holy grail of the gay movement. Won’t it be wonderful when a gene is found that explains homosexuality?

Wish again! How shall we handle the “recreational users” that claim to be gay but do not possess the gene? Do they have rights to gay marriage? What about those who possess the gene and repudiate it? Do they have inherant gay rights due to possessing the gene?

The whole issue of gay marriage falls apart because no one can really define who is biologically gay. Therefore anyone, including the recreational user, can claim rights that no one can prove or disprove eligibility for.
