They’ll spread it out over long periods of time in geographically dispersed parts of the country. Do you think the media would report on large-scale confiscation raids? The government is already attempting to control the output. Your proposal relies on the word getting out that it’s happening in a way that Paul Revere would, well, revere.
The spin masters in the police departments would make it sound like they took down a criminal organization with an “arsenal” of “assault weapons” that likely pales in comparison to the stockpiles most FReepers have.
While I agree that firing back is the best solution, liberal activist judges, assuming you make it to the courtroom, would rule that you’re a terrorist, and you’ll end up in a concentration camp or solitary confinement. If everyone who fires back is killed but takes down one or two cops, the media byline would be that “homegrown terrorists” are “taking down cops with lethal efficiency” during raids to try to curtail “drug trafficking.”
I’m completely in tune with what FReepers are saying on this subject, but the realist in me has to believe it’s not going to be that simple. It never goes to plan.
But how does one go about disarming 330 millions in a country this size?
EASY.. Raids by death squads at night to certain known individuals.. they just disappear.. unless they WANT overt terror..

No, it wasn’t a dig. They feel indestructible now because they’re holding almost all the cards. In a cold or hot civil war scenario they won’t be able to implement shock and awe against their opponents, they won’t have the manpower, moral authority or the time to play that game. They’ll be scrambling to keep up. I’m sure you remember the “DC Snipers” don’t you? That was a man with a bit of military experience and a teenager he had trained. Multiply that by 50,000 and you’ll see why LEO and the National Guard will have their hands full. There are more DEER HUNTERS in some states than there are soldiers in the entire Communist Chinese People’s Army. What do all deer hunters have? A high-powered rifle with a scope, camouflage clothing, boots, a way to get to the deer, food, ammunition and tracking & survival skills. See the problem for the government?
You wouldn’t think this nation would allow the killing
of unborn children either and look where we are.
But hunting is a dying art in many parts of our nation, vet. It used to be a rite of passage, but the liberal media has destroyed the idea of self-sufficiency. Many new gun owners are buying their first guns and putting them into a lockboxes for a “just in case” situation. Few are actually going to ranges to hone their skills, and even fewer are practicing long-range or tactical maneuvers.
We can all agree that the Liberals are nothing but patient. They’ve enacted their dismal agenda on America over the course of the last 100 years, and only now are the cracks starting to show. It would only take them pulling back just a little to make the people feel like they’re not losing everything, regroup, and start from a different angle of attack.
That was my point in the first post: death by a thousand cuts. Over a few generations, they can literally breed out hunters, tracking, and survival skills. I didn’t go very far through Boy Scouts, but what I learned from there as a kid I’ve parlayed into adult survival courses and extensive reading on the subject. Kids today are not being put into outdoors groups like 4H, Scouts, etc. They’re being plopped in front of TVs with digital devices at hand and made to self-entertain.
This battle for our nation is multifaceted. The idea that taking down a nation is solely at the feet of gun ownership is foolish. We’re losing battles everywhere to the liberal media and a lazy populace more concerned about handouts than self-sufficiency. I try not to be a doomsayer, but things are looking awfully dim for our republic.
You can’t get into a range here.
That could mean two things: too few ranges or a Hell of a lot of shooters.

Yes, there are astro-turfs, Clintonistas and other forms if intellectually inbred thumb-suckers contained therein. But, they are the minority to a very large extent.
Much of the military, especially in the trigger puller dept, come from a side of our culture that won’t take kindly to our gov rough stomping on its citizenry.
That is, imo, one of the primary motivators for large scale draw downs of the military at this time by the left.
What the idiots don’t want to comprehend is that simply removing a man from the uniform don’t, necessarily, take the fight out of him, nor forever sever him from his uniformed social circle.
But, you are correct in being concerned. Nothing’s a given. And, no “rights” belong to any people who won’t stand up and fight to the knife, and knife to the hilt to keep them.
Those people have very large sets of brass ones. Standing up to all that firepower even while being flanked. Will Our people do that, when the test comes? I would like to say yes but only the testing will tell.

The left really doesn’t understand market forces. Mostly because they are immune. The “haves” just point and buy with money they could be giving to the poor. The “have nots” sit in their nests with their beaks open waiting for mama-gummint to come and vomit tax $ and resources into their mouths.
The obozo private army purchase of billions of rounds ramped up production capacity. Proper concern about shortages and mama gummints general uncaring attitude of prices propelled a brief shift in the demand curve which funded the new capacity.
Thus, we keepers of the 2nd Amendment now have more than enough rounds to keep the tyrants from swarming us — at least on a bullet-by-bullet basis.
In this day and age that is almost irrelevant. We don't depend on the news for all news anymore. nor do we trust the news. The government would have to bring down the internet if they wanted to keep it quiet, and that would paralyze the economy, and cause even more civil unrest.
I fully believe that Americans will go through a time like Ukraine or Venezuela. But it will happen after all these other countries go first. By the time it happens here, the people will have seen all of the tricks tyrants pull on their people in other countries, and it will happen differently than we expect.
Yes, we are seeing a lot of incrementalism in taking our freedoms. And Americans right now are acting like cowards, because we still have something to lose. But even we can get fed up, and when we snap, there simply aren't enough police, army, courts, or national guard to keep us down. I fully expect a couple of Waco type events, but this time with blowback that the government doesn't anticipate. The guns are important, as we can see in the footage of the unarmed in Ukrane and Venezuela being shot down. But it isn't just a gun issue. It will be massive civil disobediance of all kinds, up to secession movements of states. The police and troops will join the citizens or dissappear. Washington D.C. will become a very small city surrounded by a vast territory it has less control over than Afghanistan.

And you think the citizens of Texas, Arizona, Missouri or Idaho will act like the people in Massachusetts or New York? Oh, some will, no doubt. But most of them?
That “midnight knock on the door” approach would only work a few times. After that, the poor schmucks assigned to carry out these raids would meet resistance. No, the individuals who shoot back wouldn’t win their particular fights, but neither would the guy who went through the door first. That 10-man death squad would become a 9-man squad; then 8, then 7... Their masters would very quickly discover that they’re no longer able to find someone willing to be the first through the door. And they would reach that point long before they could make a dent in the American gun owner population. And then it gets worse for them. The gun owners they miss would probably start a few midnight raids of their own.
And this, of course, is the purpose of the 2nd Amendment. It prevents the rise of violent tyrants by taking away the option of one-sided violence used against the People. You won’t see what’s happening in Ukraine happen here because it would never start. A million protesters armed with harsh language are one thing, but a million with AR-15s and AK-47s are quite another. No aspiring American tyrant would ever be willing to run the risk of provoking an armed uprising.
There are people here on FR who are screaming that Tsarnaev be executed even though he hasn’t been tried. There is no evidence that he killed anyone, only that he placed “bombs” which before detonation were tampered with by a Saudi Arabian citizen (and friend of Al Qaida and the Obamas).
Decent people can be channeled into hysteria.
