MADISONVILLE, LA - The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has unanimously endorsed Col. Rob Maness (ret.) in the Louisiana race for United States Senate.
"We're pleased that Colonel Maness is willing to continue his service to our country with his candidacy for the U.S. Senate," said RLC National Chair Matt Nye. "The Colonel is dedicated to restoring the individual rights of Americans. This is no small task with the unprecedented overreach were seeing by a federal government that infringes on our rights and interferes in our lives in ways that would shock the founders of this country."

I read somewhere that Cassidy is a very recent Republican, maybe just since 2004, not sure of the timing. And he was supposedly a leftist Democrat before he switched. This may not be true though.
You’re the one that does the bios on the LA politicians. I don’t know what Cassidy was prior to 2006. He’s from the Chicago suburbs originally.
Two reasons:
(1) The majority of non-Democrats disagree with you.
(2) Suicide has never been a “winning” strategy.
Maness is a very recent Louisianan. I don’t think he moved to the state before the Obama administration.
His voting record and rhetoric affirms my conclusion. As for “suicide”, how has nominating weak RINOs worked out so far in beating Landrieu or winning the Senate majority ?
I personally favor drafting former Congressman Jeff Landry, a dynamic and motivating Conservative Tea Partier. Cassidy is weak, like the two prior nominees to lose to Landrieu.

Maness retired in 2011 as a 32 year veteran of the US Air Force. He and his
family moved back to LA at that time.

He seems like an okay guy, but I have doubt his ties to the state are substantial enough to win a statewide election.
Landry (and anyone else) still has six months left to qualify and file for candidacy. Landry is also a military veteran, BTW.
You may well be correct about living in LA. I don’t know any details.
His bio states:
Rob made the decision as a 17 year old high school senior to enlist in the Air Force
and served in the midst of the Iranian hostage crisis. He worked his way up from the
enlisted ranks to full colonel and retired from active duty in 2011, ending his military
service of more than 32 years. Rob and Candy came back to Louisiana to continue raising
their family where he had spent much of his military career. He currently works
in the utility industry as a director and resides in Madisonville, Louisiana.

I don’t think working for Entergy is a great asset either. It’s a very unpopular company.
“Oh, that’s cute.”
I think it’s great that patriotic Americans such as Rob Maness are willing to enter politics and fight for our constitutional rights jest as he fought for our freedom while serving in the armed forces, but why does he have to make his first ever attempt at public office a run for the U.S. Senate, and one that could derail our chances of beating Landrieu in November at that?
Jeff Landry just announced that he’s running for AG in 2015.
Yeah, I saw that. His talents, however, are badly needed in the Senate.
Keep pushing the establishment types, and we'll end up with establishment types. RINOs will be on the endangered species list.
After what happened to Steve Stockman and Dwayne Stovall in TX, Col. Maness might as well drop his Senate candidacy.
If there was a GOP primary in Louisiana I might have backed Manses or the other minor candidate, Paul Hollis.
But there’s not. There’s a jungle primary. Neither Manses or Hollis is going to overtake Cassidy, especially with both of them running. They each poll in the single digits (and Hollis way well beat Manses for 3rd) and have much less money than Cassidy.
The only thing they are accomplishing is preventing Cassidy from winning in November, forcing a December runoff where ML will have a second chance to win in a lower turnout environment.
Right now there is a 100% chance of Landrieu/Cassidy runoff. 100%. I’d rather see the witch go down in November.
These conservative groups are not good at picking their battles. This is how we wound up with Harry Reid as Majority Leader.
