Facebook meme claims Rand Paul and Marco Rubio have anti-science views on dinosaurs, earth's age
PolitiFact.com ^ | March 25, 2014

A new Facebook meme paints two leading Republicans as anti-science because of their alleged views of the age of the Earth.

The Facebook group Being Liberal posted a picture March 10, 2014, featuring side-by-side images of Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., looking somewhat sheepish. Bolded text under the images describes the senators’ views on the age of the Earth and the extinction of the dinosaurs.

According to the meme, Rubio "believes Earth (is) 9,000 years old," and "humans hunted dinosaurs to extinction." Paul, the image proclaims, says the Earth is 10,000 years old and believes "God made dinosaurs disappear to make space for humans." The post received about 5,500 likes and was shared more than 4,000 times.

Upon seeing this, we couldn’t resist digging in and finding out just what these two senators believe about the age of the Earth and the demise of the dinosaurs.

It’s necessary to maintain their Humanist worldview.

I guess the inventor of the MRI was “anti-science”...

Wonder how he was able to do that...

Just once, I'd like someone to ask some hard questions of a Demon Rat politician:

Do you believe in God? Do you believe God created the heaven and the earth?

Should illegals get welfare? Should illegals be allowed to vote?

Should third trimester abortions be legal? How long should people receive welfare benefits? What top tax rate is fair?

Romney was quoted as saying that 47% of citizens pay no taxes at all. Do you think that number is correct? What percentage of non taxpayers do you think is sustainable?

Instead we get: "How great is it to be President?" and "What superpower would you want to have?"

It's not just the inventor of the MRI. Most Scientific fields of study were established by scientists who believed in creation.

Bible believing scientists of the past

Or they can say, “When my democrat opponent says when they believe that human life begins in the womb, I will say when I think human life began on Earth.”

Liberals/Progressives lie, period! Without lies they have nothing. Not one position taken by lib-Progessives can stand up to scrutiny. They make ridiculous un-scientific claims such as "consciousness begins in the 4th or 5th week after conception" and then accuse Republicans of being anti-science.

Liberals/Progressives rale against religion in government but a theocracy of their pseudo-religious neo-Druidic New Age mish mash of beliefs is just what they want. It's somewhat amusing since the real Druids would have probably considered today's liberals to be insane and driven them out or put them to death.

I don't care what a politician believes the age of the earth is. If the libs think that's a determination of mental fitness then let's have all political candidates take a real mental evaluation exam and an IQ test and publish the results before they are elected. We'll see how many Dems and how many Pubbies are left.

RE: Facebook meme claims Rand Paul and Marco Rubio have anti-science views on dinosaurs, earth’s age

Rand Paul is a doctor, a successful ophthalmologist who still practices today. Does his view on the earth’s age affect his ability as an ophthalmologist or as a legislator?

Same question applies to Marco Rubio?

I would say the answer is NO.

Now let’s ask ourselves the question -— Obama believes that Intelligent Design is divisive and should not be taught. What kind of legislator and president was/is he?

Good... but refined a bit by flipping it over to demand they define when it’s no longer OK to kill a baby in the womb,

and then tell us why 1 second previous it was OK.

I do not think you can say that scientists who lived before discovery of information on the age of the Earth, Universe, etc. can be classified as “creationists” in the sense that they would now believe that the everything was created in an actual week.

As far as 40% of Americans believing in “Creationism,” does that mean that they believe that everything was created in 1 week - or merely that God created the universe?

Democrats wouldn’t know real science if it was a government program.

Ask a Dem if the Earth is at apogee or perigee on Dec 21st in North America and they’ll just stare at you like a college kids trying to name a senator.

Forget apogee/perigee (it’s actually at perigee, but it’s not distance to sun that brings summer or winter, but angle of orientation, because the orbit is so nearly circular). Why is there a summer or winter at all?

Outside of the obviousness of this lie by these liars, I have to wonder why they think anyone’s opinion about the age of the earth is even consequential. I bet these folks consider evolution to be law and not a theory, yet they also somehow think that the “gay gene” has survived evolution....

I’d also bet that they think homosexuality is natural, yet it is impossible for two members of the same sex of any species to pro-create....

Dear “Being Liberal” take the plank out of your own eye before you start talking about the spec in others...

Wasn’t there some recent study or survey where they asked political affiliation and 10 basic science questions and Dems missed 70-80% of them?

And let’s take the bull by the horns. Suppose we stood on one week.

Who says that the universe of pre-Eden and post-Eden are the same? Or of pre-Flood and post-Flood?

The bible doesn’t. Modern science “presumes.” Science fiction has a better grasp on some of the concepts required, ironically.

My question as well. Are they talking about belief in creation or Creationism?
