VA leaves deceased veterans to rot in morgue

For the past few weeks, the Obama administration has been the focus of attention as allegations of widespread corruption within the Department of Veterans Affairs continue to surface.

All across the United States, employees in VA hospitals are accused of cooking the books and altering medical records to make the hospitals appear to be better than they actually were. Meanwhile, our military veterans were forced to languish in endless waiting lists, many of whom died while waiting to see a doctor for the first time.

President Obama was briefed on this back in 2008 and even though he pledged that reforming the VA would be one of the main focuses of his presidency, nothing was ever done to fix these problems. In the past week, the VA has approved veterans using private medical facilities in situations with exceptionally long VA backlogs, a crushing blow to those who support government-run healthcare.

These are baby-steps forward and there is nothing that can be done to bring back those who perished as a direct result from this scandal. But the VA seems to be moving in the right direction. That is, until I learned of another disgusting 'scandal' that made me absolutely sick to my stomach.

Today is Memorial Day. This is the day where we all celebrate the sacrifices made by so many veterans who fought and died to protect our way of life. While it is certainly nice to thank active duty military personnel or veterans for their service, this day is specifically devoted to honoring those who sacrificed themselves for the preservation of this great country.

A story coming out of California alleges that the VA left dozens of deceased veterans to rot in the county morgue for over a year without them ever receiving a burial. Many of these deceased veterans had been in the morgue so long that County officials didn’t know their names and were racing to find ways to identify them. For the past year and a half, there have been more than SIXTY deceased veterans who were left to rot at the LA County Morgue.

I’m not so sure the VA is the only guilty party here. What is the VA supposed to do if the bodies sitting in a county morgue haven’t been identified? Are they to assume that every Jane or John Doe who dies is a veteran and to be buried with military honors? I would assume that LA County, which has a long history of incompetence as well, would be doing everything they could to get the bodies in question identified and out of their custody.

There is probably more to this story.

I went to the Memorial Day Service at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery on Point Loma, San Diego today. One of the speakers said that recently 21 veterans were collected from the morgues of New York City and they were given burials at a veterans cemetery in Long Island. The veterans had no families to take the folded flags from their coffins. Gold Star mothers volunteered and went to the funeral and were their family and took the folded flags.

I don’t think we took these men to raise. I would give them a card on three reimbursement levels. level 1 is just an enlisted guy that never goes to combat. Level 2 is a combat Vet that never gets wounded and level 3 is a wounded in battle vet. Each gets more reimbursement at higher levels but they pay the rest. Let’s get off this maudlin crap.

What in the world leads you to conclude that this is incompetence? This is an effort to run out normal people from the military and replace them with the loons.
Would you stay in the military when one of the reasons you joined was the promise of good medical care for you and your family for life after hearing these stories lately?
If you were a Christian and were not allowed to hear the word God or Christ during a service conducted by your chaplain, would you stay in the military?
Would you stay in the military if you were forced to room and shower with homosexuals and you were a Christian heterosexual?
These leaks are intentional and designed to get rid of normal people and replace them with the crazies. The military that is left after the purge is complete will be Obama’s military not the United States military. That in my opinion is the goal of the mistreatment of our soldiers and vets.
I wish it was incompetence, that could be corrected.
