Soon enough, humans won’t be necessary to locate meandering park breachers. Hell, machine learning could help to rake in mountains of revenue by simply observing social media... the question, however... will the “sheople” permit it?

Another lesson in over sharing on social media. It is a compulsion for many people and the opportunities for getting into trouble are endless.

If what she actually posted was “I was feeling bad that I haven’t bought a pass and been bringing Ginger there”, that means the same as “I was feeling bad that I haven’t...been bringing Ginger there”. In other words, she has not admitted anything. I hope she sues the crap out of the Will County Forest Preserve District Police.

Loose lips sink ships.

As real criminals become too violent for law enforcement to confront, authorities are turning toward softer crimes for revenue and “work”.

She should look on the bright side. The cops didn’t shoot her dog or pop a no knock stun grenade in her face....yet.

If you publicly post an admission, don’t be surprised if somebody follows up on it.

I believe a case could be made that its up to the prosecution to prove that:

She was telling the truth
Her account hadn’t been hacked
Any pictures hadn’t been photoshopped

Still a dumbass thing to post.

Facebook - the 21st century “due process” and the digital “court of law”. Innocent before proven guilty? Not anymore.

PROVE she was telling the truth.

IF your version of what she posted is true, she could fight the ticket, and she should.

But in the end she should probably just buy the pass and bring the dog to the park. Assuming they’ve got that cough situation cleared up.

I have no idea what kind of a place this is, you have to get a permit to walk your dog in a park?

A permit to walk your dog!!!!

This is apparently on top of the annual dog license.

I wonder if they had any proof other than her comments - people say untrue things all the time and it isn’t unusual for some to come forward and confess to crimes they haven’t committed. It would seem she may have a good case to negate the citation. Just goes to show how the thought police are intruding ever further into our lives - when they can punish you because you said you did something, with no proof that you actually did it, we have lost.

What do you mean by IF my version is true? My post had to do with the simple grammatical meaning of what she allegedly posted on Facebook.

I do not have a “version” of what the woman actually put on Facebook, nor will I ever know firsthand, because I have nothing to do with Facebook.

As for what kind of place this is, the article mentions “Chicago-area”, which might provide a clue.

The answer to this would be for everyone in the area to start posting ridiculous (but fictional) misdemeanors that they had supposedly committed at that park; i.e I littered in the park, I brought seventeen dogs to the park, I jaywalked all around the park, I exposed myself in broad daylight, I took an elephant to the park, ....

If you read the article, she eventually explains that she meant she was feeling bad about not bringing the dog to the park, but was glad she hadn’t been bringing the dog to the park after all because of the kennel cough problem. The ticket was dropped after she explained her comment.

She also commented on the Facebook page for the dog park, NOT on her own Facebook page. Kind of different as far as privacy expectations, I’d say.

I’ve seen people sound palpably worse on Facebook than they do in this one, a pseudonymous forum where nobody need reveal his true identity against his will.

It’s a new modern venue of mischief. Will it defeat God’s purpose? NO WAY.
